2024 Federal League

Shout out to my fellow teammates and former Panther players who came out in support of our Head Coach at Perry, Tom Winkhart (1965-1976) who was inducted posthumously into the Stark County High School Football HOF this evening at the Pro Football HOF Event Center. He and his teams laid the foundation of the tough, never say die attitude that was maintained throughout his tenure and the many future Panther teams inherited. His high water mark was the years 1969 thru 1972, when his teams went 35-5, which topped Don Hertler Sr. at Hoover ( 31-8-1) and Louisville’s Paul Starkey (32-8), during that same period, who he had the utmost respect for.

He said he was not going to go out on a year like this past one...is what he said to his staff
I can't believe he is getting the option. I figured the administration would have made the decision for him. Sorry for the size of that school. There was no way they should have been that bad.

Per Sam Bourquin at I-Heart Radio and WHBC, Perry has relieved Zach Slates of his head coaching duties. 😲 WOW!
Well I know some Perry fans on here wanted him out, now the question is who replaces him and will they do any better?

What candidates should we narrow down on for both schools? I’m not sure where to start.
Start by forming an executive search committee, staffed with committee members who don't have a bias for former McKinley football players. That experiment has failed. Some committee members should be independent individuals who are not currently employed by the CCS, such as retired head coaches from Northeast Ohio schools. Of course, Thom McDaniels comes to mind, along with Dan Boarman, former HC at Akron St. V.-M, and Keith Wakefield, retired HC from Perry. Need to clearly avoid community activists and politics getting involved.

Agree with not letting the community get involved. And for that reason, no thanks to Brian Gamble being in consideration. He seems more partial to baseball though given his pedigree.

With Perry’s being open to anyone statewide, they may get some interesting applicants. Then there are those who may apply clandestinely….lol. Meaning try not to let my current school know until the last minute. I might be wrong, but I don’t think running the wing t will be a prerequisite. Unless it’s a wide open version.

along with....what is each school's designation in accordance to open enrollment - I thought there were a couple

I have to ask - why would the league care - its already not uniform
I would think it would be an issue....but that is me....that is why I asked the question. Let me ask this then...why would McKinley consider going to open enrollment?
