2024 ECC Football

ECC has become my favorite conference to follow the past few years. There's more than 1-2 teams that just dominate year after year. Should be an exciting year for the conference, and I wonder who the surprise will be?
I totally agree. I think it has the most personality of any Cincy conference. Watching the same team every week running the ECC gauntlet, you see such a contrast in styles, from the boss level defense and D1 rb’s of Winton Woods, to the ultra modern no huddle passing offense of Anderson, etc. Lots of great, proven coaches with individual styles. Most years there’s at least a top 3 with a chance of winning their region, and then a 4-7 or 8 capable of beating anyone else in the conference on a good night. Three straight R8 titles with a state champion thrown in speaks for itself.

Miller and Brewsaugh both had games with 330+ passing yards last year and have more experience against ECC defenses than Sandhar. I think Chenault will make the right call.
Would anyone like to provide insight as to why Little Miami had a DB throw a majority of their passes instead of any of the three options discussed here?

I would love to know where you found a box score. I know Brewsaugh played some RB last night. This team is so undersized again. We will get bullied in the ECC.

GWOC website had a box score. Showed that Kameron Everett threw 16 passes and Case Miller threw 9. Maybe it was actually Sandhar and since he's not on their ECC website roster they didn't know who he was.

Found a broadcast on youtube and yeah, it was Sandhar, but since the ECC website has Everett wearing #5, the scorer recorded it as him playing QB. Ignore the discourse.

Miller (or whoever was wearing #3) got the entire second half.

Got to see the Edgewood @ Milford game on Friday. Was really impressed with how improved the stadium is for the Eagles. That place was still kind of an outdated dump when I graduated in the 2010s, so it's beyond awesome to see them put a lot of money into it and for it to actually be the kind of place you'd be proud to call home.

The game was pretty good, too. Slow start for the home team, but they eventually found their footing and just wore down the Cougars over time before calling it a night with a final score of 33-3. Luke Brand definitely looks like he could be something special if he keeps it up and stays focused during this senior year. Hope he gets to really show out against Walnut Hills.

Lot of chatter about how banged up this Milford team is already, though. Kept hearing in the stands that the Eagles are a few injuries away from total disaster. Don't love that...

Oh no! I’ve been talking a lot of trash on the ECC vs GMC thread and kind of need them to beat Princeton and West, so hopefully they get healthy. 🤣

Saw Milford scrimmage Sycamore and it was certainly a lot more competitive than Sycamore just played against Kings (it was 7-0 Milford in a half with the starters, which was why I was optimistic about Sycamore this year). I also saw Sycamore scrimmage Winton Woods and just play Kings, and Sycamore got murdered by both. Not sure Milford is on the level of Anderson, Winton Woods, and Kings this year. Brand is a good QB but he doesn't have the playmakers that he had last year in Webster and Warther and there is certainly no Tofa Luani on this year's defense or at the goal line on offense.

Coach Myles gets his first win as an Eagle. The season is pretty much already a success, but screw it, let's go beat Milford.

My college roommate was a Walnut Hills alum, so I'm extremely happy that those eagles finally got a win. Losing streaks like the one they had stink.

Still think that Milford is going to completely curb stomp them on Friday like they ultimately did to Edgewood. I need them to, anyways, if this team is going to win about 2/3rd of its ECC games and be a dark horse playoff contender...

Walnut Hills breaks The Streak in dominant fashion, defeating Western Hills 30-8, with the latter's touchdown coming on the final play of the game with a running clock active.

Rivers 3 TD, 2 INT. Ty Austin ran for a 91-yard touchdown and caught another one. Bronson caught a 66-yard touchdown. Joshua Thornton caught two passes of 25+ yards, one for a TD. Walnut defense was swarmy all night and had several TFLs as West High rotated between 5 different RBs in an attempt to find something that worked.

They did not beat Milford.

Sorry boss. I was hoping that it would be a close game, but it wasn't that, either.

Milford has been rockin' in their last six or seven quarters of football, but I have this sick feeling in my stomach that the good times will be coming to an end next week against Winton Woods. The much superior 2023 Eagles squad BARELY beat that program last year in OT with a field goal. No clue what'll happen now...

Still, I'm gonna savor the undefeated season that we have going on for this weekend...

Grippa will always give you guys a chance. Love seeing the Bailey kid have a big year so far. His dad was my 7th grade basketball coach!

Hearing rumors about all kinds of drama coming out of the Little Miami area after 2 weeks. Don't know if any of it is true, but I figured I'd pop it up here and see if there was any fire to be found around the smoke. I never chime in, and I don't have dog in the fight but I hear the ol LM Faithful are being led into another sh*tshow. Coaches with some poor play calling and quick gameplan abandonment...punishing players by benching them and then playing them on JV (including a Senior QB) to prove a point. Parents losing their minds in the stands and ready to run off the new coaches only 1/5 of the way through their first season. I'm no expert but Little Miami can't seem to get out of their own way and the dumpster fire on 22&3 keeps on burnin! Anybody hear anything about any of this?

This happens when you're not winning, I'd encourage the "LM Faithful"....whoever that is, to relax and give new staff a chance. Whatever was happening in the past obviously wasn't working 🤷‍♂️ Coach Chenault has a very capable staff but like the old saying says "hard to make chicken salad out of chicken chiznet?"

I know they didn't report their stats last game. LM parents love to run off coaches. Been happening since the late 90's with Coach Martin. Maybe I'll check out a game to people watch in the stands. It would damn sure be more entertaining than the game. This team is 1-9 bound again.

I always thought the ECC was a tough fit for Little Miami. I felt they would have been better suited in the SBAAC with Massie, Wilmington, Goshen, Western Brown, etc...... Little Miami being D1 probably worked against that. Back in LM's FAVC days they would lose a lot of good football players to Kings, I would imagine that is still an issue. Milford football ought to serve notice to everyone that if you get the right Coach, and can get him to stick around, you can build a solid program. The last thing you can do is play musical coaches.

Parents @ LM have had a history of overstepping and prying into matters they are clueless about. Parents thinking they know more than coaches, it's a tale as old as time in Morrow. Sad and laughable at the same time. They can't get out of their own way and actually let a good thing develop. In over their heads now that they are DI, & that'll be tough enough, but the parent issue is elevated at LM.

Numbers don’t lie…. They each played a half against Turpin. This isn’t the business of playing guys just because they are seniors.

So which Senior QB played JV? Brewsaugh or the rent a QB transfer portal kid from East? Not that it would've mattered. We can't control the line of scrimmage or run the ball. Maybe have 2 kids to throw it to and we are still too small on defense to stop anyone. Even after hearing how this wonderful new weight room would get our boys ready to compete in the ECC.

I said it in the off-season and I will say it again, the only way LM has a chance to compete is run the triple option, shorten the game, keep your defense off the field and give other defenses a look they rarely see anymore. We have less talent than everyone minus Walnut. The triple option gives a lesser talented team the best chance to compete. That's the only way. Otherwise we will be 1-9 or 2-8 and recycling new coaches every 3 to 5 years, which seems to be a tradition in Morrow for the last three decades.

Speaking of parents overstepping at LM, makes me miss our old yappi friend ptpackerfan aka Pastor Tim Patton! Its a shame his kids graduated, that dude was unhinged and had some of the best Yappi rants of all time during LMs best seasons ever. I know coaches, administrators and school board members were glad to see his kids graduate!

no doubt. Kinda miss his Vince Lombardi long winded diatribes myself...kinda like a bug to a bug-zapper; just couldn't help myself. He was an absolute loon.

Two classic ptpackerfan posts that I remember. The time he challenged an Edgewood parent to suit up and go 1 on 1 with him in pancake drills after the Edgewood/LM regular season game in 2018. Those two went at it well into the playoff rematch (LM victory) and into the offseason. I'll have to look that thread up.

The second was when he complained his son was over worked in a game against Western Brown when he had like 34 carries. Then a week or two later he only got 6 or 7 carries and old pastor Tim was on here bashing Mahon and saying his boy should be more involved in the offense. He couldn't stand Mahon and bashed him throughout the playoff run. It was classic LM parent over stepping and being unhinged. He set the blueprint for the parents of today. Old pastor Tim wrote the book on coach bashing/ running coaches out of town on a rail!

The real kicker of it all was that the guy genuinely believed he was the almighty knower-of-all-things-football. Had all the answers, if only folks would just hear him out...complete self-absorbed windbag, but damn, were his posts epic and hilarious.

LM parents need to shut up and let this new coach cook. At least for this year and next. The daddy ball is what caused the issues with Jones. LM has historically hired the same teachers, youth football parents, and retreads. Mahon who was not a good ole boy had this team in the right direction and frankly I expected more of Jones. Jones started bringing the good ole boys back to run the team and it all got screwed up.
