2023 Glenville Football

Can we at least come to a little agreement here?

Some people willing to admit that there might just be some at the very least bending of the rules with GA, Glenville.

Some people willing to admit that the only reason they really care is because it’s a smaller division school that doesn’t fit the narrative of inner city school that is predominantly black (99% to be exact). Not the only reason someone would care but at least skews the feeling a little bit.

Then those people can all call a truce and we close down the Glenville topic 🤝 I am just trying to be a peacemaker.

What does Perkins do well? And most importantly its going to start up front so do you think theyll be able to stop the run? Genuinely asking

Lethal passing attack with a great RB. 4-3 D is the only chance to compete with them, just an absolutely stacked team. Edison is a great D5 team & was down 42-14 at the half. Clinton-Massie, Perkins, Glenville, Steubenville all look like the favorites in D4 at this point.

But I'd be remiss if I didn't say Glenville is a D2 team disguised as a D4. Battling a team like Avon the way they did? I mean sheesh, Avon blew the doors off McKinley.

Alter in R16 could be a turd in the punch bowl for Massie, though I would not count out McNick as a darkhorse (will see week 10 against Badin). Can R16 stand up to the other regions? Probably not but when all is said and done, it may not be Massie in that final four.

Interesting. Up here Region 13 should be one of the best brackets in the state. No idea who is winning it with a lot of real contenders

I'll keep you posted in the R16 and how all this pans out. Right now, Massie is the favorite, Wyoming may be a bit over rated (game tonight against Indian Hill will give some clarity), the school is out on Taft, Unioto is a mystery and Shawnee could be the other darkhorse along with McNick. If I had to pick the R16, I'd go with Massie vs Alter and Alter taking it in a close one.

R13 seems loaded, wow. The R16 winner may give a good run at Canton South, Lake Catholic, Hartley or Steubenville but I dont know if they can pull it out. I just dont have a lot of info or insight to those teams. Southern and Southwest OH is kind of like Mars compared to other areas of the state, lol. Obviously, Glenville is the favorite and hopefully one of the other three regional champs can give them a good run....

Actually nice talking football instead of politics...

Name the other schools that added 10+ transfers this year and didn't get tagged. And seriously, why would someone who grew up in Steubenville and played for Steubenville High School give a if an all-blk school was in D3 or D4?

Preciate that. Region 13 is ridiculous and a lot of the contenders have high scoring offenses so there should be plenty of shootouts.

I honestly think a repeat would involve 2 maybe 3 real battles. Going to sound kind of simple but there is a huge difference from having Arvelle Reese and not having Arvelle Reese lol. He was just unreal and made it impossible for an offense to function.

Did you see the leaked video on Bleacher report pregame with the Colorado players trash talking to Oregon?

I have no sympathy for Colorado getting the score ran up on them every game. They deserve the backlash with the way they act.

I have zero sympathy for them getting taunted after they lose especially with the leaked Bleacher report video that came out.
Everyone will have a smile on their face when a team beats Colorado and they did it to themselves.
As a Hoban alum and fan you should be careful passing judgement based on how your strength coach conducts himself on the field before, during and after games.

I think people are just upset that Glenville is no longer Glenville High football it is Ginn Academy of football, and the true children of Glenville are being forced out of the lineup then forced to transfer because all the Out-of-town players are taking their spots.
Upon
I think this is Avons year in D2
Could be. I have not seen them play. If not them it will most likely be Massillon or Hoban

Which is the elephant in the room. If even one of these players does not live either a) in the Glenville attendance zone, or b) outside of CMSD in a house for which Glenville is the closest CMSD school, then those players were not eligible for the first 5 games. If one of those players participated, that's a forfeit.
Dummy, it’s the last 5 games! They switched that a few years ago. People cried and said it was unfair for a player to sit the first 5 games then play the last 5 and the playoffs where they helped their team the most. I see you still speaking boldly from ignorance!!!

Because Stuebenville is D4 not 3 and the whole world knows high school football is king to detriment of everything else down there. Boy that was easy 🤣

Those 3 are impossible for me to separate. Nasty Defenses, devastating power running games with GREAT athletes at QB who can also make throws. I know they have had the D2 championship on Thursday the past few years but it really needs to be Friday or Saturday night. All state championships are great but D2 is the crown Jewel this year

Dummy, read. If the kid shouldn't have been playing for Glenville at all, it's a forfeit.

Example: a kid who attends GA has his eligibility vested at the CMSD school closest to his residence. That is, he might go to class at GA, but he has to play for John Marshall, John Hay, or whomever. If he suits up and plays for Glenville, that's an ineligible player.

That's why this is such a big deal, and maybe why OHSAA is taking so long to issue a ruling. Because unless every one of those kids can show that he is eligible to play for Glenville, they're looking at 3-6 record.

None of this applies to these kids. Dummy it’s just your wishful ignorant thinking!!!!

Something applies to them, else they would have all been eligible the last four weeks.

Just be clear: you are asserting that every single player on the Glenville team has established residence in the Glenville attendance zone to OHSAA's satisfaction?

It’s laughable that they come after you when they are the school that had their coach and school put on probation for recruiting violations
This is at least the 5th thread on an alleged football forum derailed by the same topic even though the playoffs are a week away. Thats not normal lol

These guys won’t stop until Glenville football is erased from history.
I don't think it’s like that. Like another poster stated; if someone from Glenville/GA would admit that they are at least using a loophole in the system to get better players this would all go away.

This thread is 21 pages long and nobody is taking shots at Ginn Sr. Yet, when the Glenville faithful are backed into a corner that’s their response. Same with the whole race card thing. I can’t speak for everyone but I think most have ZERO issue with an inner city school being successful. Yet again, when backed into a corner with nothing else to say other than the truth that card gets played.

if all the players for Glenville are eligible then they are still the favorite to win D4. That isn’t in question. It’s the tactics the administration and OHSAA is allowing is the issue. I think it wouldn’t matter if it were a city school or rural school with this particular arraignment it wouldn’t matter.

Name me a time when people lost their minds over a rural school getting transfers? If it's the rules and OHSAA doesn't say anything is wrong then let it be. There are fans who's schools aren't even in the same division losing it over Glenville being D4.

How is anybody backed in the corner? The reasons kids go to Glenville is public knowledge. Nobody take shots at Ginn? Thats a real sentence even though he is part of the administration you're saying implements shady tactics? We had someone come in here to talk sh- about freshmen football, be serious the hate is real and abnormal. Notice how non Glenville fans are starting to say the same thing as those of us "backed in the corner." You are literally quoting someone who isnt a fan, what does that tell you? Give it a rest, make a Steubenville thread, discuss region 15, etc. You guys dont even talk about YOUR team. Just Glenville 24/7/365.

Let me let yall in on another little secret. Yappi dont do sh- for Glenville one way or the other. There is nothing said on this forum that will every affect the program. I dont have to "run pr" the kids hard work and success did that. Nothing rollredbuckeye or Racks162 says on here (over and over again) matters in the real world. Elite programs who arent scared will be still be calling to play and college coaches will still be flocking to give kids free education. Do you at least understand that?

Dude, I am going to steer you another way... I am over this whole eligibility thing and would like to talk football and Glenville, their region and the upcoming playoffs. Anyway, I posted this on another thread and was curious as to your take.

Racking the regions (per Drew Pasteur's F50) of their predicted champs, as of today, and odds of them winning the state:

Perkins at 26% - R14
Glenville at 17% - R14 - I had to throw them in here, well, just because.
Steubenville at 16% - R15
Lake Catholic at 6.3% - R13
Clinton-Massie at 4.4% - R16

What's your take on this?

I would suspect the semis would be the same as last year. R15 vs R16 and R13 vs R14

Region 16 I know absolutely nothing about except Clinton Massie scares with their ability to chew clock and make it a low possession game.

Lake Catholic has the best win in region 13 and they do seem to be the slight favorites. Everybody says Canton South cant stop anybody but I also read on another thread that the athletes on offense will play more D come playoffs. West Branch seems to be peaking too and seem to be flying under the radar this year which may actually help them. Those are my 3 favorites with the slight edge to Lake Catholic and wouldnt be super shocked if you saw Struthers in the championship either.

I really dont know a lot about 15 but Im guessing Stuebenville wont face much resistance. Hartley will try to do the same thing as them offensively with less explosiveness. St Clairsville did play Canton South tough though maybe they have something to say about it.

Lastly there is a lot of respect for Perkins over here and its growing. They will not be taken lightly whatsoever if/when the time comes.

I'm a R16 follower and yes, Massie would be the favorite but Alter seems to be peaking at this time and could upend the Falcons. I have a couple of Darkhorses in the region but I don't believe any can come close to what is happening in the other regions.

It would really be interesting to see Massie and the Big Red on a neutral field to hash that out.

Glenville and Perkins should be one heck of a ballgame....maybe I need to put in a drive for that one:ROFLMAO:

Should be a really good tournament people honestly sell this division short. Speaking of drives Im just happy that neutral site with Perkins should be more reasonable than last year with Van Wert and West Jefferson 😂
