2010 NBC softball

The more I read it sounds like notacsfan23 is a parent that is upset that their daughter did not make Varsity. I went to the Louisville game to watch both JV & Varsity to see what all of the hub bub was all about and saw fundamental mistakes being made by both Louisville JV/Varsity and CS JV/V. I am sure it is frustrating, but as parents we should be supportive and help our daughters be the best person and player as they can be without being critical about the coach, other players, and not having stats to compare them to.

Back to the actual thread...since the season is turning around the last corner, you has been the most surprising player and most dissapointed player? And also the most dissapointed NBC team this season and the most surprising? Coach of the Year? Player of the Year? Who has the best pitcher? Best catcher? Best infield? best outfield? best lineup?

Most Surprising player- Brittany Lippencott/Regan Rito - WB

they have been surprising to me. Both I believe are either freshman or sophomores(i know Rito is a freshman), and they have been giving a spark to this West Branch lineup. West Branch has always had a solid #1 pitcher, but no offense to go with it. Now they have some offense, and the defense is playing more loose because they aren't always playing from behind, and the pitchers don't have to pitch a shutout every game now.

Most Surprising Team- West Branch

I thought they would be one or two years away from competing in the top four of the NBC. They only have two seniors this year(catcher and 3rd base/UT). The pitching staff is coming back and the 2 seniors aren't great hitters, so the lineup is going to be solid again next year. The catcher will be missed and will be hard to replace and so will the UT player, but I'm sure with some of the talent at the WB JV level, they should be able to fill the hole with some experience. West Branch softball should be a force in the NBC and beyond in the near future.

don't know much more about the other teams, but the Most valuable players to the West Branch team are senior catcher Danielle Agnew, Regan Rito, Emily Weber, and Brittany Lippencott.

Im no parent at south and you got something to do with the coach if you tell me that junk . Who are you Greene trying to clear his name, Im from Marlington been on here for years . I see 2 of the jv kids from south in travel and there is no way them kids would be on varsity if he was not the coach . If you really watched the jv game and the varsity you would see that.

Did South JV beat Louisville JV?

No it was 2 to 1 . Its still time to give some younger players a chance, don't you think . Is there anything wrong with a change when what your doing don't work .

Carrollton gave Louisville a rough time today before the Lady Leps rallied to win. The Lady Warriors were up 3-1 in the 5th due to stringing some singles together. The Lady Leopards chipped back in the bottom of the 5th and 6th to tie it going into the 7th. Brit Flanigan helped her own cause by smashing a homerun in the bottom of the 7th that sounded like it put a nice dent in a car to win it for Louisville.

You have 4 post all about south and all directed to me, are you the coach or one of them . If so this is what I think remeber its the good old USA. I have written a number of times its not the kids that are bad at South its the coach. Its not one kid you cheat when you play favorite's its the team . This is not about one kid its about the "Team" . But one thing I have saw this year from Greene and --- the team means nothing. Good luck to South kids the rest of the year, cause to the kids Im a fan all the kids . To the coach I am not.

There have been surprises in the NBC. West Branch has improved from the beginning of the season. Carrollton plays tough, scrappy softball. I always enjoy watching a team develop over the season. These two have improved.

"Most disappointing player"? "Most disappointing NBC team"? C'mon. All of your suggestions are subjective and relative to the team and coaching. An awesome pitcher can have the worst defensive team behind her. A skilled catcher can make the best throw-downs in the world to a player who can't catch a ball. Best line-up? Who has any control over where a player is put in the batting order? Coach of the Year? What does that mean? The one with the winningest record? Does that mean he/she is the "Coach of the Year"? You're suggesting subjective opinions on matters to which most players have little or no control, but to which players will get on this thread and take to heart. All of the girls in the NBC should be commended for this season. It's been rougher for some of them than others.

As with any situation, there are always circumstances to which most people on the outside looking in are unaware. Likewise and unfortunately, every team has its share of drama, misperceptions, and speculations. Very few are truly knowledgeable of what goes on in the dugout, on the field, or in practices, but many feel a right to pass judgment. For those watching CS, what knowledge do you have of the past coaching staff and dynamics of the teams in recent seasons, what knowledge do you have regarding why the previous coach’s contract was not renewed, what knowledge do you have regarding the three candidates the Board had to choose from to fill that position, what knowledge do you have about any of the players’ experience or potential, what knowledge do you have regarding the current coaches’ relationships with their players, what knowledge do you have regarding when players are injured, ill, absent, or disciplined…? The parents and players at CS realize there have been many challenges and adjustments to this season (and some are more knowledgeable of the entire set of circumstances than others). No matter what, the parents support the players and the players support each other.

Your right everyone should support the players . I did not say any of the other coaches are better, this one is just bad . I have been around since his hot stove days I know who and what kind of a coach he is . Thats what I think and everyone can think what they want .

:-) School district resources are limited everywhere. Everyone knows certificated employees get first consideration, then down the line through other school employees. Remember, there's a system that has to be followed whether parents agree with it or not. Do you have any idea who the other two candidates were and what either one of them would have been like? It's been a struggle, but CS was spared two other potential bad situations by the Board. All-in-all, the girls at CS did a good job relevant to their obstacles for this season and not having played together at all prior to the season. Hopefully, next year for the girls who return, the dust of this season will settle for them and the best nine players will be put on the varsity field in the appropriate positions in the best interests of having a winning season. The talent is definitely there. See what happens in the off-season and just keep supporting the girls.

First of all...this is about NBC softball...if there is a dispute over Canton South players/coaches/parents on what should be what, then you need to take it to pm or take it to the CS school forum page. I agree too. Why do you think I only did WB as a "surprising team" and "surprising players" from WB. I only did that post about "best lineup?", "best catcher?", and such becasue of this stupid stuff which is about the players and schools in NBC softball. Not over who's a parent on here or not. I'm just trying to get this thread back on track. I hate the awards they give like that, cause it's so stupid that some players are better than others, but not really...it's like you said, catcher could be good at picking off baserunners, but the second baseman might not catch it.

Its an Nbc thread as long as your talking about Nbc schools who cares . By the way West Branch has done a great job, can we have your coach . Great job to CS 2nd baseman on a great season .

you did beat us friday, though. So i don't know why you would want our coach.

Anyone going to Canton South-West branch softball tourney game in Beloit thursday. I'll be there just in case you want to stop and say :hello:

Allie Norcia, the Canton South 2nd basemen, might just be the best kept secret in the NBC. A consistant hitter with power and plays solid defense. Congrats on a very good season.

I have to agree . Would have liked to see her at short , but she still was a tuff out and a bright spot for the cats. Has to be one of the best hitters in the county . Good luck at the next level .....

The Indians beat New York every once in a while . I would still like to have there coach :wallbang:

Canton South lost their first tournament game to West Branch. West Branch's coach really turned it around this season. Canton South on the other hand, you need another new coach or go back to the old one your team was terrible before he got there was good when he was there and terrible now that he is gone. Season next year will even be worse! Hopefully the Wildcats have some talent including pitching coming up or it will be a long bumpy ride. But congrats to Louisville pulling out with a 10 inning win over the aviators! 1 to 0 game must have been great.

Brit Flanigan pitched all 10 innings, had 17 Ks in pitching a 3-hitter vs Alliance.
Louisville had 8 hits in wrapping up the NBC.

I have been saying this all year . This guy is horrible, Greene was bad as a baseball coach and he is bad as a softball coach . Its not how you play in some sports at south its who your mom and dad are. I have said this all year

Louisville will have a tough tournament road as they have to get through the Fed - teams loaded with travel ball players. I consider Perry and North Canton as both capable of winning state.

Louisville blanks GlenOak 11-0 in tourney play, in 6.

2-hitter for Flanigan. Double by Baumgardner in the 6th finished things off.

I'm glad Louisville is doing good but honestly no one they have beat has been that great. The NBC is Just weak this year, the Federal league is weak aswell besides Perry and Hoover! Flanigan doesn't really throw I'm suprised teams don't beat her. But whatever she's doing I guess should keep it up.

Louisville has wins over Jackson, GlenOak and PERRY this year. They beat a good Walsh Jesuit team also. In the Fed, Boardman is also pretty good and so is Jackson. Louisville lost to Hoover 3-0 but Flanigan only gave up 5 hits, and Louisville had three.

You don't know what you're talking about. Or else you're a troll.

I like to call this "Clueless Parents"

Flannigan has a nasty change-up, that's why she's doing so well.

Louisville 11-0 over GlenOak...I know Hoover is state champion caliber, but Louisville could give them a run for their money. I mean people were saying how GlenOak would beat us and it was 11-0 (including us leaving the bases loaded with 0 outs in the first and not scoring, so it could have easily been over in 5). 2 Hoover players were at the Louisville game today, they are serious about sweepers and softball over their in North Canton.
