2010 NBC softball

Greene and Robinson didn't look bad considering the long layoff, Rachel Montgomery and Allie Norcia look solid, with Norcia and Robinson showing good power at the plate. Schneider's coming around and Clapper looks solid on the mound. If you were expecting 2 easy wins against South, you might have to rethink that.

I don't think there are two gimme games in any year in the NBC. I remember the pitcher from youth and she has a live arm and is a competitor. As for the new players, well they are excellent athletes, and I'll bring up the Perry RB from a few years ago who ran track for a couple of years and then came back out for baseball his senior year and batted over .400 for the season.

I am from southern Ohio, and I have family connections with the NE. The Federal League is, well the Federal League and a great league is an understatement. But the sophmore from Louisville, Flannigan she is VERY good. I believe she was the MVP at Queen of Diamonds North. I have seen a lot of pitchers in my day and she is the real deal. If she gets a little more size she could be a legit D1 college prospect. For the record though they have to get by the Federal League powers to get out of the district. As for the NBC, I don't think that Louisville was planning on sneaking up on anyone, they don't have to.

Preseason projections:

1. Louisville - I think the Lady Leps return seven starters from the defending league champion. The soph Flanigan returns on the mound and Givens is the toughest out in the NBC.

2. Marlington - the Lady Dukes return both pitchers from last year and have the best power hitter in the league in the junior 1B Gorman.

3. Alliance - the Lady Flyers return the soph Bondoni on the hill and have a solid nucleus back from a team that was tough last year.

4. Minerva - the Lady Lions return the junior Kerr in the circle and six starters from a .500 league team last season.

5. Carrollton - the Lady Warriors return most of their starting lineup and Sheets on the mound.

6. Northwest - the Lady Indians return both pitchers (lefty/righty combo) from last year.

7. Canton South - the Lady Wildcats have a new pitcher and return only two starters from last year.

8. West Branch - I think the Lady Warriors lost their lefty pitcher so they may experience growing pains on the mound.

I like Alliance over Marlington but finally someone who know's the teams a little . Also Canton South pitcher will be fine but ss and the bottom of the order are real week .

Clapper gave up 6 runs hit a girl and also gave up a homerun. She is not a solid pitcher. She couldn't even bend over and field 3 balls that came her way. By the end of the 4th inning she was breaking out in a sweat... this chick is not in shape. Minerva was hitting her fastball. They had her timed up by the 1st inning. The defense is what the won the game. It was a joke to watch. If it wasn't for hits by Robinson, Norcia, Greene, Gaskins, Schnieder, and Miller she would have been hung out to dry. The defense did all the work. Clapper loaded the bases several times. Gaskins came in and held Minerva for 3 innings. Gaskins had a few strikeouts. Greene is gonna have a rough season.
I will be surprised if he stays ahead of the game. He got lucky today.
Lousiville or Alliance will take the NBC. South should have hired Forshey instead of Greene. She is more experienced and doesn't have a daughter on the team.

Wow Forshey ya please that way the kid on jv playing short and center and were ever can never play var. cause she will have to play her kid and her kids friends . I mean lets let all the parents coach at south .while your at it fire the baseball coach and let rich what ever his name is coach baseball so his kid gets to play . Get a life let your kids get what they work for .

Louisville beat West Branch 7-0, at least that's what I heard from one of the players. Flanigan pitched a 2-hit shutout and hit a homerun. Givens also homered for LHS.

Greene IS playing daddy ball for this year along with his friends favorites so whats your point dude?

It doesn't matter who coaches at south they have their favorites and their buddies kid backs dude. In fact daddys kid left early to play basketball...no other kid would be allowed to leave a game early with out repercussions. Daddy ball at its finest...need I say more...

Nikolia484... We all know you are a Gaskins... Shut your mouth, you all are poison to the team... appreciate a win and stop complaining... the only reason Nadia did ok was because when we switched between kirstie and nadia there was a 15 mph difference in fastballs and all the girls from Minerva were swinging seconds early and hitting everything off the end of the bats. Forshey's are a cancer to a dying athletic program and I'm glad they aren't around anymore. As for players leaving, Shavon will miss the next 4 games for basketball, and everyone knew that going into the season. It shouldn't matter, it's a young team, and it lets other kids play. Gaskins for real stop posting bull on yappi I will call you out on everything you post, I'm sorry you've spent thousands of dollars on your kids for them to still suck... You should know you can't polish a piece of crap to shine like chrome. You people would be the only one to bash a pitcher who won a her first Varsity game and hasn't even pitched for over 2 years... Get a life for real... you want to talk about mommy and daddy ball? how about how all you do when Kirstie pitches is stand in the shadows and bash her and Greene but when Nadia pitches even Kirstie's brother was cheering for her... It's a team concept... Everything for the team, I think having the speed difference is a hude aspect to take ahold of no matter which one of the two starts... And really who cares who starts aslong as the team who is picked to be last, is winning, especially against a solid Minerva team? What about base running? There were 3 more runs South could have scored if they would have ran the bases properly! Ever think about that? So stop trying to bash people because your kid can't throw a fastball over 40mph. It was the first game with a new coach, new players, and a new philosophy, and we won... I mean it, you better stop bashing people because Nadia doesn't start but yet she pitched 3 innings.... GET A LIFE

Dude you sound so angry:

You must be the pitchers mommie… how cute.

I resent you calling me “Gaskins” sounds as if you have a problem. Get some help honey. I can’t believe yappi would print such accusations. What I wrote was an observation no judgment: just what I saw.

As far as the other pitcher, I don’t know her or your kid. I just watched the game…

I don’t take kindly to your threats either.

It was an ugly win… seriously giving up 6 runs

Hey retard read my name... "MAN"inpaint3408...
And no person goes to a game just to watch... then you accuse greene for playing daddy ball so you have a connection to the softball team.. you are so retarded.. you werent there just to watch so shut up... you are just digging yourself in a bigger hole now

All of you posting on here that attend CS sporting events should be real proud of yourself. No wonder our schools are such a mess with people like you representing Canton South. Makes me sick to my stomach.

Congrats to the Lady Cats on the win. I think they will sursprise alot of teams this year.

Ya Minerva is a great program the JV game was 34 to 4 south Forshey and Greene stink . Forshey had the most talented JV team around and could not win no one should be aloud to miss games when there are other dedicated players behind them .Why should one kid sit so another can play another sport please . Ask Massillon if there best football player can miss 4 games to play basketball wow were do you guys get these coachs Rock is leaving so he dont car what there doing with the kids well the board should

How can you pass judgement on a coach tht has one game under his belt? Win or loss

Im with you he is doing alot better than I thought to you can read my past posts I was not a big fan at first but things are looking better . I see were some of the post are coming from but I guess everone should get a chance .
and he is doing better than I thought.

Canton South is not as good as there 2 and 0 record sounds right now. I think both the pitchers moms bickering back and fourth at each should both sit back. You are making this look bad not only for your self but for your two girls and neither of them deserve this.
My honest opinion, neither one of them are ready for the varsity level and that will be seen. One quit playing after her freshman year because she didn't have a prayer starting over Bowles and the other one just doesn't throw hard enough. Neither of them are at the level they need to be at. Rec ball doesnt cut it when you get to this level of competition and when they get into playing Louisville, Marlington, and Carrolton they are both going to have a rude wakening and Carrolton is definately a team to watch out for this seaon, don't be shocked! Sheets could dominate the NBC!

Wow. This is sad for CS. Why would anyone bash their own like this? It’s a shame the girls just can’t go out and have fun and be a team without “spectators” criticizing them and their coach. The CS team is a fine bunch of young ladies who certainly don’t deserve the bashing they are getting, especially from those who should be supporting them most. Coach Green has coached for years. He knows the game and he truly cares about his players. He’s a dedicated, upright CS alumnus; as is Cassie McGuryt. So what if a couple of seniors decided to play ball again after being off a few years? The last thing that should happen is to discourage or criticize any athlete who wants to play ball. Coach Green inherited what he has. It takes time to build a program. There have been far more players with travel experience than most people are aware. As for the bashing of the pitcher…from what I hear, she and her parents are just thankful that she can return to the game after missing her entire freshman season with a torn ligament in her pitching hand and almost losing her life in an automobile accident a few months ago. CS is lucky to have her. And, for your information…her mother is above getting involved in this petty anonymous “courage”. So just bash away.

It is a shame that this thread has taken a turn for the worse with a couple of sour apples from South. There is absolutely no need to direct comments at a certain student-athlete by name that is just crossing the line. South is 2-0 and beat Minerva and Lake and people are complaining that it is not enough? A shutout pitching performance over Lake does not happen by mistake. Those two programs have historically been solid programs as has South in the past. I thought it would take awhile for South to mesh but it does not surprise me now that I know who is coaching them. I coached a couple of years against David Greene in the youth league and he always fielded a solid team. I imagine someone will allude to it being youth ball, but the bottom line is he knows the fundamentals and is "baseball" smart so it equates well to the high school field as well. I don't agree with hiring parents to coach but I would not have a problem with Greene coaching my daughter whatsoever if she went to South. You people need to realize also that those seniors are probably enjoying playing another sport together before they graduate and it should be no problem that they are playing and making South a more competitve team this year. It sounds to me like a couple of people have a problem with these players taking playing time away from their kids, and knowing the talent level of these seniors the coach is justified in playing them over someone who was there last year. There is competition in sports and the last time I checked they keep score so a coach will more than likely play the best nine to compete. I would also like to mention that I coached against Karen Clapper in the youth league as well and have as much respect for her as I do David Greene.

Let the season tell itself! People need to back off and let the girls play the game. The Wildcats have the Dukes tonight and this will definately be a game to tell what there season will be like. Marlington has a strong team with a few great hitters. The Wildcat pitching staff will have to be dominate! No ball should be thrown over the plate or the dukes balls will end upon the other side of th fence, they have some swingers!

And make sure the moms stop bickering I know this is them!

People need to stop instigating things. There is nothing going on between those two players' mothers and those girls are teammates and support each other as do the parents of one another's children. If people are so obsessed with the CS team, before making assumptions, they should go to a game and observe the parents - maybe even approach them and talk to them.
