As the title states. What are some long overdue games you would like to see happen? These can be teams who have never faced each other before, or maybe faced each other sometime ago but haven't in awhile. Here are some I can think of:

Chillicothe vs. Unioto
Clinton-Massie vs. Marion Local
Clinton-Massie vs. Jackson
Chardon vs. Mentor
Painesville Riverside vs. Perry
Bellbrook vs. Xenia
Tippecanoe vs. Wapakoneta
Trotwood vs. Wayne
Harrison vs. Elder
Winton Woods vs. Princeton
Hoban vs. Massillon (as a regular season series)

And of course....

IRONTON VS. MARION LOCAL

Canton Central Catholic vs New Philadelphia

Hoban vs. La Salle

There was a stretch from 2017-2020 when it seemed inevitable that it would happen in the playoffs, but it never did.

And it was just posted elsewhere they just came to terms on playing in '26 & '27!

Very happy to see this one come back. While it won't have the gravity of those great powerhouse match-ups of the 80s, it's probably my favorite HS rivalry of all time.

Whoda thunk back then that we'd ever see the day come when Margaretta was actually bigger than Huron?

Coldwater vs Celina: Separated by 8 miles but haven't played since 1991. 26-17-1 in favor of Celina.

Fort Recovery vs Jay County (IN): This is Forts rival and they've only played once to my knowledge. Should be a yearly game regardless of records. Going to speak it into existence @IndianaBanana. 1-0 Fort Recovery in the series

Anna vs Fort Loramie: This one happens for the first time this year!!

Bluffton vs Bluffton (IN): Why not lol

Lots of great matchups here! I would love to see Xenia travel to Clinton County more often and play Wilmington and/or CM (they scrimmage them already) in games. Greeneview and Miami Trace I have a feeling would bring a pretty big gate!

Bedford vs. Solon (I am surprised that the two have NEVER played each other!)
Mentor vs. Lake Catholic

Although they will be playing in 2025, I feel that Avon/Saint Ignatius should be a yearly matchup.

If Chagrin Falls' enrollment bounces back, I'd like to see Chagrin Falls/Kenston resume in the future. They aren't gonna be playing each other for a while.

Bedford and Solon surprises me too.. those two are essentially neighbors!

Iggy and Avon played in 2024 as well. It might be turning into a yearly contest

The two schools are VERY far apart from one another (and Chardon is not easy to get to). Avon's enrollment has been on the continual upswing in recent years, while Chardon has remained steady, at best. And Avon is in a quite competitive league and typically has one non-league game in which it likes to challenge itself... in other words, there is no room on Avon's schedule. Chardon is also going to the CVC next year, so schedule limitations will arise there. Not saying never, but if these two ever do play, it'd only be a 1-2 year one-off contract.

I can tell you Bedford did play Solon back the 1960s and early 1970s. Maybe they just happened to stop after 1971.

Avon has contacted Chardon at times when they had openings, but Chardon wasn’t interested. Great program for sure, but Avon might be more than they want to deal with at this point. For the same reason they aren’t playing Mentor. Bigger schools with diverse offenses that typically only get slowed down by teams loaded with athletes on D. To be honest, Chardon might be more comfortable with Hoban, for example. Sounds crazy, of course, but against Hoban you can pretty much focus on slowing down the run and if you succeed Hoban is not comfortable passing. Avon, or Mentor, are diverse offenses that will take what the D gives them and are equally comfortable running or throwing for 400 yards to win. I know Avon and Chardon have faced one common opponent in each the last four years (Avon Lake, Avon Lake, Olmsted Falls, Glenville) and both Avon and Chardon won all four, but Chardon scored a combined 98 points while Avon scored 205. Still, it’s a potentially attractive westside vs eastside game that would draw a lot of interest.

WW VS Princeton should happen but with only one out of league game in the GMC and ECC most like to schedule out of area decent teams or GCL. Makes no sense with the expanded playoffs bring back some rivalries. Colerain vs Northwest would be a good inter district match up now that Colerain has fallen off the track. The GCL week one games are a thing of the past for Colerain until they can get competitive.
