PDC - did Martin show any receiver capability? He has athleticism and speed.
The varsity receivers that are starting are tall - Bodamer is the shortest at 6'1". Tompkins is 6'3", Vollmer is 6'5", TE Ward is 6'5" and his back-up Moriarity is 6'4". Is there enough speed?

The JV LT is James Raynor (6'6", 290#) , who is also listed on the varsity roster. I believe he is Henry's ('21 basketball) younger brother

I think the back-up RB is Steve Favazzo, who sat out the McKinley scrimmage.
bluengold,

Martin looked quick and big enough to play on the Varsity. Again, very limited action, but the starting WRs, while tall, were not separating much on routes.

Overall the offense should run ok but it's not exactly filled with any speed.

I watched Raynor in the JV scrimmage and he did well. Huge kid, still working into the role.

I believe at any other school Martin would be starting on the Varsity in some position.

Springfield will be a tall order. They are loaded with skill and burners on the outside. The Ignatius WRs might have a tough time getting open.

Thanks for the insights PDC. Agreed on the Varsity offense. Would like to see Webster and Martin both get some touches.

Fyi, the Springfield game is at the HS, not Evans Stadium which is what Ignatius' website says

Ignatius and xavier are playing at pat catan stadium......has this been done before and anyone know why?

Don't know why, but they have played at Byers, Lakewood, JCU before, but not Strongsville. A couple years ago, they were scheduled to play a Canadian team at Fairview, but that had to be moved because of an event at Fairview. It was moved to Brooklyn.

Wild that the school hasn’t put out any sort of preview with the first game tomorrow. They used to do position by position review articles, recaps of the jamboree, etc.

It's really been poor for the past year or so. The website set the standard, so this is not me being overly critical.

Here you go:

Much was lost when Eddie Dwyer retired.
