Really? Bc I would say it’s forcibly injecting your wildly speculative views on the death of the sport.
Well, there are all kinds of ridiculous viewpoints— yours being one of them— while my viewpoint is supported by facts— legal facts. You keep trying to play in this game— but you’re il-equipped. Resorting to profanity and name-calling to win an argument has been long and widely viewed as both a non-winning strategy and a poor reflection on the person who does it— but you keep at it— I’m sure that things will turn for you soon.

A reflection of (smart) Moms making their CTE fears known, wouldn't you think? But regardless, when all the best players start getting paid (via NIL) to play where they're playing, don't you fully expect Ig to get MORE than their share of the best players? And I assume that you are wistful for the days of Ig being dominant on the field-- not in sideline numbers... bring in most of the best players, and that dominance will be back, regardless of the total team roster size (akin to the last really good Mooney teams). I don't expect that ANYONE (in Ohio, at least) will be back to those kind of ~125-count rosters (that X and Ig once had) in the modern era of CTE awareness.
I wonder about the CTE situation also. However, if one still wanted to play football, Ignatius would be an excellent place to go, since Chuck Kyle is employed by the Browns and NFL to conduct workshops for coaches and players about teaching proper methods of tackling to minimize concussions. I also doubt that the playing of players will affect the enrollment of football players as long as the school continues its strict transfer policy. I would expect players would gravitate more toward schools that would let them transfer in during their upperclassman years. The athletic emphasis has gradually gone away from football. The lack of many rivalries has also hindered excitement in the program on a weekly basis. It's hard to get excited by River Rouge, Mi ( no offense to them, but it is a team that is unfamiliar). and we all know the excitement and talk during the week leading up to the rivalry games. During the " heyday" of Ignatius football, local teams were still playing, and great rivalries were established with teams such as Boardman, Warren Harding and Canton McKinley. Thank God for Mentor.
Tom 48.. I believe your view on the “transfer policy” is a bit outdated, unfortunately... check out basketball program. Staff is recruiting kids all over the AAU circuit. Ignatius has a sophomore transfer tplaying with the varsity.. this before setting a foot in the school or attending a practice or class. So much for the hardworking sophomores looking for a spot on the varsity team…seems the school is adopting the “best player available” strategy when it comes to basketball.. will other sports follow.. ?

Massillon had 36 players on their varsity squad that showed up at X today-- as a point of reference.
The Massillon freshman team is not part of the varsity squad. There is only 1 freshman on the varsity team.

Who said otherwise? I'm talking about how many players I counted, when Massillon's varsity came out to warm up for the scrimmage. The JV was playing on the other field, and then the frosh (which had already played) came over and populated the Massillon sideline during the game-- but the actual Massillon varsity players appeared to number ~36.

However, you responded to a post from Wildcats1886 who mentioned the 100 members of the Ignatius freshman team. If you meant the Tiger JV team, I agree.

I thought you might find it comforting that Ig's teams are still substantially larger than those of one of your (historic) area rivals.

Thank you, but please take the discussion about Massillon -St. X to its own thread.

SIBN announcers said the first 2 games vs Springfield and Mentor will be audio only. 3rd game vs Baltimore Mount St. Joseph will be video

Cats have talent on the JV and especially the Freshmen.

But I have said it/posted it many times, I hate the Ignatius offense. Starting Lenihan from a stopped position seems stupid to me. Damn that kid would be dynamite if he could come out of the I formation.

Same with Martin on the JV. That kid should be spelling Lenihan on the Varsity.

But it's Ignatius and Kyle so that won't happen.

PDC - how did the frosh and JV scrimmages go? Hopefully the JVs look much improved after finally getting in some offseason practices.

Agreed on Martin, he has the talent to contribute somewhere on the Varsity (I think he could be an excellent secondary player and return man in addition to RB).

The frosh numbers are great. Way up. Talent is also way up. Outstanding passing game already. (Thanks to a very good WR) Taller kids all over. Looks very promising.

JV does not have good numbers but there is talent. McKinley scored easily on their first series, but then the Cats defense settled in.

JV also has great size at LB, TE, a WR the starting QB and of course Martin. The JV LT is massive already at 6'6 290 lbs.

I am serious about his (Martin) splitting carries with Lenihan on the Varsity. He would really help the offense IMO because the passing game looked a bit off.

PDC - did Martin show any receiver capability? He has athleticism and speed.
The varsity receivers that are starting are tall - Bodamer is the shortest at 6'1". Tompkins is 6'3", Vollmer is 6'5", TE Ward is 6'5" and his back-up Moriarity is 6'4". Is there enough speed?

The JV LT is James Raynor (6'6", 290#) , who is also listed on the varsity roster. I believe he is Henry's ('21 basketball) younger brother

I think the back-up RB is Steve Favazzo, who sat out the McKinley scrimmage.
