Ouch. Hard to compete in the MAC with numbers like that.Watched some FR practice.
-Numbers really low (counted 26)
-Offense is really bad.
-Assistant coach had to be full time scout team QB
Things have to change.
They won't
Me being a diehard Fort Recovery supporter seeing the program dwindling worse than the pre-2014 years:Ouch. Hard to compete in the MAC with numbers like that.
I'm pretty sure that was 1975 - I attended that game because I begged my dad to take me. He finally relented and we drove to Minster from Maria Stein. I think we arrived late.I believe that a nearby resident allowed use of their garage for a gameday locker room.
I remember a scrimmage there where admission was a bar of soap so that the team had a supply for the coming season.
I also remember a big 8-7 win over Marion Local somewhere in the mid-70's.

Anyway, with the score 8-7, I believe ML had a 4th down very close to the goal line late in the game and hc Jim Lippincott opted for a td attempt rather than a fg. The Flyers were stopped.
I recall ML qb Frank Griesdorn throwing his helmet in frustration at some point very late in that game - he did it on the Marion sideline. Tough loss for the Flyers.
Lippincott coached at Marion for two more seasons - he eventually became Director of Football Operations for the Bengals.
Did you guys run him out of town?sounds like a play that Coach Blackburn would draw up.....
in the preseason that year Coach Blackburn made the statement.." if Minster doesn't go undefeated, they should run me out of town"
one point win over the flyers... and a one point loss over parkway...
No no no no no you absolutely don't have to do that. You can simply wear a black polo shirt when you go and support your grandkids. Now if they were Cardinals, I bet you'd look great in crimson and gold....And I guess I'll have to begrudgingly buy Minster gear one of these days since my grandkids will be Cats.
nope he coached one more year as the HC for football. But coached various sports of many years at Minster helping out in Boys basketball, girls basketball and was a heckva PE teacher for many years at Minster.Did you guys run him out of town?
Wasn't Blackburn the head coach for boys basketball for a while?nope he coached one more year as the HC for football. But coached various sports of many years at Minster helping out in Boys basketball, girls basketball and was a heckva PE teacher for many years at Minster.
Grandpa was a Steiner, and only would come when we played Marion. Always sat there with his blue and gold on, made me laugh everytimeNo no no no no you absolutely don't have to do that. 7 on 7's are nothing but a passing practice, teams that win state titles consistently run the football. SH however has a very good jr. class should be good this year, and very good next year.Saw the first two possession from each in the SH CW 7 on 7 tonight. I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously hard to make any judgements from a 7 on 7, but we seemed to at least have the athletes to compete with Coldwater. Now let's see if the athletism carries over to when it's full pads.
Totally agree. Was more to see where we stacked up size/speed wise. Plus I've had an itch for football that needed scratched haha.7 on 7's are nothing but a passing practice, teams that win state titles consistently run the football. assistant... for guys and also for girls... unless he was when i was living away from Minster for a few years...Wasn't Blackburn the head coach for boys basketball for a while?
how many kids are out for Football for the Skins?Saw the first two possession from each in the SH CW 7 on 7 tonight. I was pleasantly surprised. i thought this was a DEAD week for HS football? two-a-days start Monday?Saw the first two possession from each in the SH CW 7 on 7 tonight. I was pleasantly surprised. Rules do not apply to the Great Chip Otten.i thought this was a DEAD week for HS football? two-a-days start Monday?
There’s not an OHSAA-mandated dead week this week, but it seems like a bunch of teams are treating it like one. And 2-a-days officially start on August 1 this yeari thought this was a DEAD week for HS football? two-a-days start Monday?
I believe you get 10 "camp" days that you may use anytime during the summer. Versailles is using their days right up until August 1 practice.i thought this was a DEAD week for HS football? two-a-days start Monday?
I feel like there's little choice. With 2 scrimmage weeks and a August 23rd Week 1 that is one hell of a packed schedule anymoreThere’s not an OHSAA-mandated dead week this week, but it seems like a bunch of teams are treating it like one. And 2-a-days officially start on August 1 this year
Our dead week is usually July 4th dudeRules do not apply to the Great Chip Otten.
It used to be 10, I think it's like 15 or something now including 7 on 7'sI believe you get 10 "camp" days that you may use anytime during the summer. Versailles is using their days right up until August 1 practice.
That's the worst part of the playoff expansion IMO - The early start hamstrings teams flexibility in august, and puts pressure on schools to have more stuff in julyI feel like there's little choice. With 2 scrimmage weeks and a August 23rd Week 1 that is one hell of a packed schedule anymore
In 1995 he coached 7th grade boys basketball.assistant... for guys and also for girls... unless he was when i was living away from Minster for a few years...
With the analysis I change my picks as the top 4 in the MAC:Saw the first two possession from each in the SH CW 7 on 7 tonight. I was pleasantly surprised. It is Mr. Chip Otten to you.Rules do not apply to the Great Chip Otten.
The rule started last year that you could use camp days to to get the five days of acclimating in so teams can start contact on 1st day of two a days.I believe you get 10 "camp" days that you may use anytime during the summer. Versailles is using their days right up until August 1 practice.
