Very tough region this year, probably 12 very competitive teams. Hubbard I think is going to be a lot better then Niles and Edgewood
Tough region. In my rankings #'s 3-11 will be very competitive. All should make the playoffs. Lake Catholic should go undefeated and be the #1 seed IMO, Glenville could go undefeated but I see 3 losses so they will be probably 5-8 in harbins, maybe a little higher. The only blip on Perry's schedule could be Kirtland (but they won handily last year). As stated very early but I don't see a Canton South type team in this region this year.

NDCL is DIV now???

Glenville is the #1 IMO. They reload year after year and will definitely be a tough out. Lake Catholic is the #2. They have made some really impressive strides over the past couple years, and should be a shoo-in to win the North Coast Conference. Curious to see how they do in their non-con schedule, featuring the likes of Avon, Upper Arlington, St. Eds, and Hoban, all teams who made a regional final run or deeper.

West Branch is #3, as they've made deep runs the past few years, but can they win a regional title for the first time since 1994? If them and Glenville met in 2022, I could have seen a very high-scoring competitive matchup.

Norton is #4, having been winners of the Metro Athletic Conference a couple years in a row. They made a solid run in Division III, and will be right at home in Division IV.

Rounding out my top 5 is Perry. They just made the cutoff for Division IV, but they do return the majority of their team from last year's state title run. Curious to see how they gel this year, as their first three weeks will definitely be a tone-setter for the season.

I like your input Mr Red Raider. I see Perry as #2. How is the QB situation at W Branch?

That I am not certain about. They had two really great QBs walk through the halls the past couple of years. Word on the street (don't quote me on this) is that one of the WRs is gonna get moved over to the signal caller position.

I'll get the scoop soon on W Branch. My grandkids go there. I would not sleep on Perry!

Yes you’re correct, they’ll be more athletic at the QB position this year

Would really stink to be in this region. Ginn Academy should be given the trophy and not waste everyone's time. Not only this region but perhaps all of the other d4 schools. The only thing that could be a factor is whether in Canton early December.

One of the toughest regions in the state. Two defending state champs in the same region. MLC, West Branch, Struthers, Buchtel (Who gave Canton South fits last year in the playoffs), Norton. Can't count out Mooney either. They can win 5 games, get in and be a problem. Should be an interesting year.
I think if Stevie diamond wasn't hurt buchtel would have beat canton south last year but it was a good game

I dont think Buchtel gets mentioned enough as a possible contender. Theyve done some damage the past two years coming into the playoffs under the radar. Wouldnt be surprised to see them put it all together with this being Diamonds senior year

Speaking of Thomas, I believe that Buchtel has an incoming freshman starting QB by the name of Arthur Thomas who may contend for the starting role. The Griffs are always a tough team year in and year out.

Norton is super underrated. They don't get talked about a lot as far as Akron-area programs, but they've been doing their thing as of the past few years. They've won the Metro Conference three straight years and have won a playoff game each of the last four. I see it being between them and Streetsboro (and maybe throw Field in the mix?) for the top of the conference.

Wow I'm getting old! I remember watching Arthur Thomas's father running track for Buchtel, setting the Div 2 4x200 state record that still stands today, and a week later him and Curtis Eaton leading the the Griffs to a Division 2 team title in track.

Yeah. I think Niles is still way too high on that list. They should be in the bottom 10, not the top 10.
