We can only hopeIs there any way both Ursuline and Mooney could lose? ?
Best post I've read All Season!!Is there any way both Ursuline and Mooney could lose? ?
It’s a complete show. I think Ursuline would be fine against them again regardless. Hard to beat a team twice when they’re similar coaching will come into play. Both know how to get kids in obviously lol but coaching them up will be they key if they meet again.Ursuline may be looking at a new set of circumstances for the post season. It looks plausible that VASJ may have to forfeit their wins and not participate in the play-offs. Does any one know what is going on there? Once again the mismanagement by adults impact kids who just want to play football. A great loss to the innocent, if true.
I mean he did get suspended for three playoff games so there was definitely smoke thereYES! The whole thing was more social media BS that someone started and people just believe it and spread it. Such things have caused havoc for our country--like believing something because it's on Facebook. And I'm embarrassed to say I fell for it.
SAD when you think about their many, many decades of the usual 8,000 per game--- especially vs. SVC teams not that long ago.I saw highlights from Mooney-Harding there and it looked like Mooney filled up like 25% of the home stands
They played in Austintown back in the '70s when CM used Fitch as their home stadium for a time. But Austintown has a Youngstown PO address. This is the first Holy War in Trumbull Co.How many times have Ursuline and Mooney played each other outside of Youngstown? It seems like they had a playoff game against each other in Campbell years ago.

That was in 1973 but I don't think it was that Mooney used Fitch for home games. I believe it was due to some type of strike in Youngstown and South and Rayen stadiums could not be used for a few weeks at the start of the season. I know Mooney opened the season against Akron East at Struthers and I'm pretty sure that Ursuline played Rayen at Hubbard in week one. They played each other at Fitch in week three that year. They played in Austintown back in the '70s when CM used Fitch as their home stadium for a time. But Austintown has a Youngstown PO address. This Ursuline fan misses your expertise! The CM-U game was at Fitch that year. Pouring rain throughout--extra long halftime due to lightening. It seems light years ago that Mooney was welcome to use Struthers. I remember listening to that Akron East-CM game on the radio. I was working nights at St. E's and all of 20 yrs old. The mills hadn't closed yet. so a different Mahoning valley. What was your favorite game in the Holy War? Mine was '72 at Rayen when the Irish put on an air blitz (Banks to Hernan) under two minutes left to win 18-14. An all-time gem for Ursuline. Mooney fans & band had lined the field ready to run out. They played at Campbell in the first round of the D3 playoffs in 1990.

They also played each other at Fitch in the first round of the D4 playoffs in 1995.
Good luck to both teams tonight.
GO CARDS!!

Exactly and the hardhats are so much more important than y’all. Can't play at Struthers, it would conflict with the Hardhats. : /
so very, very sad...how far the mighty have fallen...but let us all remember that these are boys.Watching in TV. Hardly any Mooney fans in the stands. Looks like everyone is jumping ship.
Agree Cinci,,,It’s just a game played by kids. I hope Mooney can right their ship,,, I don’t mean just on the football field. That is not the most important. Although, they could do well by wiping the slate clean at the top and starting over,,,that should be obvious enoughso very, very sad...how far the mighty have fallen...but let us all remember that these are boys.
No they simply said we willCan't play at Struthers, it would conflict with the Hardhats. : /

Keep him don’t careAnd that being said, means that mediocrity will continue on Erie Street.
Pelini is doing them no favors by staying.

’67 was probably the hardest loss to take In the entire series. I was a frosh @ Ursuline, we finished 8-1-1 but CM won the City Series (our final year but we didn’t know it). Ursuline had rallied vs Chaney the week before, 18-8 @ Rayen, and #5 in Ohio AAA. We never recovered from the upset and ended the season tied by East, 8-8. We could feel the air coming out of the entire school in those days when football was absolute king in scholastic sports. (I was an east side boy so that tie with East was particularly jarring)That 72 game was a tough loss to take. I remember the Cards had about a 20-play, roughly 75 yard drive to take the lead that used up most of the 4th quarter and looked like it was the game-winner. Mr. Banks had other ideas though.
Favorite game for me is tough to answer because there have been so many good ones. I saw the first one as a young kid, still have the program. Mooney being the new school wasn't supposed to win but did behind Jim T at QB. The 67 game was certainly a huge win for Mooney. They were absolutely not supposed to win that one. 1993 is another game I don't think many thought the Cards could win. I might have to go with the 67 game.
