Top 5 Teams in your County's History

I'd put 2013 Marion Local in there over 2014 Marion. That 13 team beat the dog snot out of my Tomcats in the 2nd half.

2014 Marion Local was better than 2013. Ask any MAC fans. That's not even up for debate. 2013 Flyers were an excellent team though. The 2013 team was very fortunate to get past Covington in the playoffs. Covington had that amazing RB that went on to be a standout at Ohio University. Marion Local generally has a good run defense, but they just couldn't contain that Covington rushing attack.

Montgomery County (Dayton Area)
Div 1
2015 Wayne (14-1 State Runner up)
1999 Wayne (13-2 State Runner up)
1991 Centerville (13-2 State Runner up)
1984 Centerville (11-1; beat #1 Team in the Nation; Moeller)
1975 Centerville (10-0; 6 shutouts, allowed 34 pts)
Montgomery County (regardless of Division)
1) - 1976 Centerville ( 10-0, 2nd state tot. computer points, 322 yards rushing allowed, best Elk team ever under Bob Gregg (according to him))
2) - 1983 Centerville ( 10-0, 6 shutouts, D1 QB, Better offensively than the '84 team)
3) - 2015 Wayne (According to Vamps, Wayne's best ever)
4) - 1999 Centerville ( 11-1, beat state runner-up Wayne 35-14 at Wayne)
5) - 1999 Wayne ( State Runner-up )

Others...( Again...Regardless of Division)
- 1984 Centerville (see above)
- 1991 Centerville (see above)
- 2010 Wayne (State Runner-up)
- 1971 Dayton Jefferson "AA" (10-0, 30+ point margin of victory)
- 2008 Kettering Alter ( State Champs D3)
- 1976 Dayton Meadowdale (10-0, Arguably best Dayton City League team ever)
- 2011...OK, Trotwood D2 ( State Champions)

Once again, most people aren't old enough to know that Centerville's best teams were Before the everybody gets in playoff era.

Lancaster beat them heads-up when they played. 06 Lancaster went 10-0.

06 PC was talented, but putting them as top-five in county history is questionable.
Well I can see your point. Just my opinion. I have watched PC since 1999 when I moved here. And yes they lost to Lancaster. But going to the state finals that year has to trump the loss to Lancaster. Just my opinion. But, also to add to my point, when you have a public school go to the state finals 5 times ( once in D2 and 4 times in D1 ) that has to carry weight when it comes to this argument. Remember the bottom line is the best of the best.

really the 2020 team was a bunch of frauds X showed that 2011 actually put up a fight
Fraud ? Your a joke ! They were rolling all season and got against an opponent that was definitely ready. Maybe PC was a little overconfident. No excuses we got beat royally. But tell me any team in Fairfield County that could keep up with the 2020 team ? Remember this is the best of Fairfield County. Dont give me Amanda or anyone like that. PN in 2017 would be up there and would score 50+ on any team at anytime.........except for PC !

Jefferson had the states longest winning streak in the early 70s when Bob Gregg was the coach. Northmont was the winningest program in the Dayton area during the decade of the 70s.
For Miami County I'd say...
2006 Piqua Indians. D2 State champions
1978 Milton-Union Bulldogs 10-0 only gave up 3 tds all season. This was during a 20+ game winning streak of 77-78-79. Didn't make playoffs any year during that time.
1972 Troy Trojans with RB Gordon Bell
1980 Covington Buccs state runner up
2006 Milton-Union Bulldogs. Regional runner-up

Miami County

1. Troy 1971 10-0 pre playoffs
2. Piqua 2006 D-2 state champs
3. Troy 1985 12-1 D-1 state semis
4. Covington 1974 10-0
5. West Milton 1969 10-0
Good list, but I would argue that the 1968 Sidney team, as well as the 1970, '72 Troy teams were better than West Milton, or Covington.

1997 Defiance- only state champ in county history
2000 Defiance- 12-1, lost to Buchtel in OT in the regional finals
2014 Tinora- lost to state champion Minster 14-13 in the semis. Would have had a legit shot at Kirtland had they won, one of the few D6 teams who had a shot at beating the MAC/Kirtland in the last decade.
1986 Ayersville- 13-1, lost to Newark Catholic 28-27 in the state finals
1994 Defiance- 10-2, gave Walsh Jesuit all the could handle in the regional finals before falling short.

Only went with the playoff era.

Hicksville and Fairview had some nice runs, but no teams that really stood out as legit threats against the top teams in the division. I'd have no problem switching one of them, likely 2004 or 2011, regional champ Hicksville.
Tinora, was a HECKVA team!!!!

Auglaize:

St Marys Memorial - 93 State Champ
St Marys Memorial - 90 State Champ
St Marys Memorial - 92 State Champ
Minster - 89 State Champ
New Bremen - 20 State Champ

Many from St Marys will say the 78 (or possibly 79, I can't remember which) should be second on this list. Minster 14 or 17 could replace New Bremen in 20 and I wouldn't argue too much.
actually I would put the Minster14 team in front of the 89 team, the team they beat Kirtland, then the 89 team with 19 team from Minster that lost to a GREAT team in Anna. above that New Bremen team, who they put a 40-2 score on, THE YEAR before they won the state championship.

Don't forget 1967-68 Sidney. 22 in-a-row, I believe...

What is their whole 30-0 Field gig?
I might have been 30 straight. I'm going on very old memory. I just know they didn't lose for sure for 2 full seasons plus...Although they didn't lose, they weren't, however, nearly as dominate in as those '70-72 Troy teams.

No 1984 Roth Keith Byars team? Runner-up i think.

Id have to say the 16 team with Seth Harmeyer leading the O-line could be up there too. State runner-up. He had that O-line impenetrable

I don't disagree with you, I used State Champion as the first criteria, otherwise St Marys would have the Top 5 (probably 10) teams on this list, in my opinion.

I also don't use the year before criteria. That Anna team was very, very good and a good chance Minster wins it all if they didn't play.

They should definitely make the "others" list, as would 1974 Fairmont West (9-1 I believe, with sensational RB Jeff Fight...sp?) and 1986 Dayton Dunbar 11-1, lost close in regional semis to state champ Fairfield.

I would considering Byars finished 2nd in the Heisman voting. ;)

Good list, but I would argue that the 1968 Sidney team, as well as the 1970, '72 Troy teams were better than West Milton, or Covington.
Sidney is Shelby County. Totally different day and time. Milton was very Big back then and a larger school than it is now. MU was in the SWBL with Northmont, Trotwood, Butler, Tipp, etc. Troy was very good, but Milton would've given them a very hard game.
MU was the second-winningest program in the Dayton area for the decade of the 70s. Northmont was the winningest of the 70s. Milton and Northmont were bitter rivals back then.

Sidney was in the Miami Valley league and Troy was in the WOL. Played Piqua in week 1 and rest was in conference. (Wayne, Xenia, Beavercreek, Fairmont West, Fairmont East, Stebbins, Springfield North, Centerville and Fairborn.)

Yeah — you’re right. Friend reminded me that in ‘99 they beat Chanel that year before they beat St Henry in the final; when I picked 2000 it was the year they beat Chanel in the state final and for some reason (prob because I respect the former Chanel tradition) I put greater emphasis on them beating SPC than I did St. Henry. Was Bam Childress in that state final? That’s where I was thinking 2000 was better originally.

Is 1999 the year they beat the hell out of the team from Canada?
Childress was a senior on the 99 team, played in the semi-final game, also played in the State championship undefeated BB team that year

Sidney is in Shelby County And they were 10-0 in 68, 69 and 1970.

Got it. Stuck in a 10 team league. Tough to get that 1 non-league game right. And you go .500 in computer points. In the era where only 1-2 teams per region were invited to playoffs, you mis-schedule that 1 game and you're out.
