They will absolutely get one Super Bowl. Not another one, but they will get one courtesy of the NFL for doing what they want. B1G football championship? Possibly not. Final Four and/or some occasional NCAA tournament regionals? Yes. Minor bowl game if they want one. Also possible neutral site college football games.Brook Park Dome will be a flop in my opinion. Greater Cleveland will not host a Super Bowl. Not enough hotel rooms for the NFL, and while you don't have to be a huge market for a Super Bowl, we don't have any of the draw a city like New Orleans has for it. B1G championship game is not coming here, doubtful any CFP games for the same reasons as no Super Bowl. Maybe the MAC Championship because of the MAC HQ, but they may like Detroit. A small level college bowl game? Probably. NCAA mens final four. Maybe once but I have doubts about that as well.
It'll be a less utilized Ford Field, if Ford Field was built around the factories in Detroit and not downtown. I think it's far too ambitious of a project. Reminds me of the Medical Mart in Downtown. At least it won't be taxpayer money thrown around for it.
I really wanted them to stay downtown. Didn't care about dome/open air. This is a mistake long term imo.
They will join the rotation of Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis and eventually Chicago for the big events in the Midwest.I don't see why Cleveland would be denied any of those events. If they'll put the Final Four is the f-ing Alamodome, they'll put one in Cleveland's new dome.
They should only be afforded the same things others businesses are offered....tax breaks...infrastructure....etc. I'm tired of professional sports teams holding cities hostage. Fukum.Governemnts should not be giving a dime to sports teams, much less teams that are trying to replace perfectly adequate facilities that aren't even 25 years old. Complete insanity. Let them leave.
Only problem with the last thing is that no mayor has even attempted to do that. The new facility in Brook Park would be one of the best in the worldI'm surprised at the number of people who seem against this move. There is ZERO advantage to playing on the lakefront in an open-air stadium. It's not overly loud. Our own players would rather play inside (how many SEC guys do we have). It's miserable for the fans. Parking is a joke. No bars/restaurants nearby. And the stadium itself was rushed and lacks the frills that the big money people want in a facility. If they do this right, the new complex could be incredible. And then Cleveland could HOPEFULLY properly develop the lakefront. Get it done!
I have a feeling the taxes to cover the cost will be done (forced) regionally, but Brook Park would definitely be picking up massive infrastructure and security issues they’ve never dealt with before and at what cost? I would guess they will adjust. I look at Avon’s growth over the decades and they kept raising taxes and adding services to keep up with the growth. It is different, though, in that Brook Park is going to be hit big all at once.Brookpark should cede that land to Cleveland, kinda like the land swap they did with the IC Center years ago. It's a losing proposition long term. They could still benefit since they would still have land close by. But having that stadium, not something a smaller city like Brookpark should do. Probably a bad deal for their taxpayers long term.

Of course there is an advantage. The kicking game being the biggest one. We don't win the SF game indoors. Did you see Miami in the playoffs? They wanted no part of those conditions.I'm surprised at the number of people who seem against this move. There is ZERO advantage to playing on the lakefront in an open-air stadium. If you’re so against it then when they build it go sit outside on your porch in the middle of January and watch the game on your phoneOf course there is an advantage. It's not miserable for people who know how to dress appropriately.
Parking is cheap. Enjoy paying 100 bucks at the new place because Haslem will control it. Does Brook Park have parking decks outside the footprint of the stadium i.e. out of Haslems reach? They don't even have the roads to handle the increased traffic...but wait the state will stick the burden on the taxpayers for that on top of the stadium costs.
Wah you have to walk to the stadium...judging by the average person at a game they can use the workout.
The only frill you need is the game on the field, that's why you are there. If you need something else you gotta wonder why you are there in the first place.
The Browns hosted one of the all time coldest playoff games against a West Coast team, the Raiders, in January of 1981. Remind us again about how that cold weather advantage worked out for the Browns.Of course there is an advantage. The kicking game being the biggest one. We don't win the SF game indoors. Would've worked out great with better execution. Chip shot FG if Sipe doesn't try to play hero. The Browns hosted one of the all time coldest playoff games against a West Coast team, the Raiders, in January of 1981. Remind us again about how that cold weather advantage worked out for the Browns.
LOL you picked one game just look at the dolphins record in cold weather games. I could care less what the browns do but to suggest northern teams don't have an advantage hosting playoff games https://www.profootballnetwork.com/...d-games-ominous-numbers-ahead-of-chiefs-game/ is ridiculous. The Browns hosted one of the all time coldest playoff games against a West Coast team, the Raiders, in January of 1981. So are we going to make a major regional infrastructure decision based on the cold weather ineptitude of one football team, the Dolphins?LOL you picked one game just look at the dolphins record in cold weather games. Not a browns fan care less what they do but to suggest weather does not help a northern team in the playoffs when playing a team from the south or So. Cal is ridiculous facts suggest otherwise. Same when a "cold" weather team goes south or to So. Cal not used to the heat and humidity (Florida). When is the last time an indoor team won the SB - 2009 so go build your dome.So are we going to make a major regional infrastructure decision based on the cold weather ineptitude of one football team, the Dolphins?
Here’s the thing, sadly. The Browns don’t make the playoffs enough to bother using it as a consideration for or against the dome. Not a browns fan care less what they do but to suggest weather does not help a northern team in the playoffs when playing a team from the south or So. The Rams won it three years ago. I know Sofi isn’t considered an indoor facility, but it has a roof on itNot a browns fan care less what they do but to suggest weather does not help a northern team in the playoffs when playing a team from the south or So. I remember that because I was there. Also that team sucked. When you have talent it is an advantage which barring injury we'll have this year.I also remember the cold weather warriors we know as the Browns whooping up on those dome-home pansies from New Orleans on Christmas Eve a couple of years ago. Oh wait…
Maybe if we had an indoor facility for that game the tens of thousands of fans who stayed home that day would have actually showed up to give the Browns a home town crowd to fire them up?
