Springboro vs. Mason- huge game this Saturday!

Who you got?

Whoever wins this game has a really good chance to win it all!

I think Mason squeaks it out in a lower scoring game and Princeton ends Walnut's magical run. Mason and Princeton should play in the Semi-Final with the winner being the favorite to take the title.

I think Mason wins this game. Should be a great game to attend. A shame we can't get this battle in Dayton for the title. With Springboro dropping two games during the season to Fairmont, it makes me think Mason will be too much to handle.

Walnut is playing really well. Not sure MND was ever THAT good in the first place. MND is going to lose some really important pieces this year, but the whole reason they brought this new coach in is because he thinks he can bring in kids through AAU, so we will see. Hackney, Ava Simpson, Carine Harris, and the Vieth twins will play much bigger roles next year. He will be bringing in some Legends kids in too, I'm sure.

Sycamore is set to be really good. They got way better as this season went on. The loss of Burgess will hurt, but the most talented kids on their team are freshman.

Princeton will be interesting. Gerton is going to graduate but obviously they still have Erin Thomas. And Princeton is always a destination for random transfers.

Mason will obviously graduate Parrish, but Habra and Stanfield remain. Can Dudgeon keep the same level of play with a little less talent?

Springboro will graduate a ton but they have some real talent at the younger levels. May take a a year to develop into a good varsity team but it's there.

That Lakota West class of Fox, Bayliff, Williams and co. will be in their senior year next year. Can they finally do something?

Lakota East had some really strong classes come through and have now graduated. Who's left? Not sure.

Milford got upset early but they feel like they are on the way up with a lot of young talent.

Seton got better as the season went. The talk has been that they have the younger talent for a few years now. Does it ever develop into a dominant team?

Fairmont is a team to watch. I thought they would get further this year, but they are going to be even better next year as they return basically the entire team.
MND looses a lot but they will still be solid.

Walnut has a great team. I'm a huge fan of Ross. She's a beast!

Never saw Sycamore play but from what I hear, they can shoot and will be solid going forward.

Princeton....what you said

Mason should still be a top contender.

Springboro will still compete but they will be nothing like the last two years. To your point, Springboro's JV was 1 of 2 teams that gave Seton's JV team a game. I don't say that proudly, BTW. See below...

Milford has a great program and a great coaching staff. Losing a huge piece with Shuluga.

Seton got better because they started putting some of their best kids program wide on the varsity floor. While I'll enjoy the ride while it lasts, they have a lot of work to do to be dominant but have an opportunity to make some noise.

Fairmont scares me : )

Springboro 59
Mason 44

Great game at Fairborn. Fairborn’s facility is first class.

Mason’s best player #4(and she is tough) got into foul trouble and Springboro held the lead the entire game. Springboro had their share of foul throuble as well though. The big 3 for Springboro (#12, #23, #30) dominated the game with points and rebounds. #23 and #30 were the difference of the defensive end.

My apologies for the mediocre assessment as I don’t know their names, I am just a casual fan.

Springboro's defense was the difference maker. Mason's offense isn't super creative (neither is Springboro's, really). They have been able to score off ball screens and one on one advantages all year, but Springboro had the players to match up with them. Parrish was forced into many, many tough shots, especially late in the game when they were down 6-10 points. At least yesterday, Springboro's big three outplayed Mason's big three.

Predicting a Princeton win today but nonetheless could be a close game if Walnut hits some threes and is able to keep Gerton from getting to the basket. Great season for Walnut win or loss no one thought they would be here and Lazar has proven once again like with those teams from a few years ago that he definitely can get the most out of his teams. As for Princeton I think they got a real shot at winning the whole thing they just need to stay composed and take good shots. I think them v Boro could be interesting game.

Princeton 25, Walnut 15 at half. Rough 9-0 stretch in the first quarter the difference right now.

Princeton still leads, 43-35, midway through the 4th. Walnut got as close as 1, but the Vikings starting to dominate the glass.

Princeton will have 3 starters returning. Losing Gerton and Fortson.

Final: Princeton 58, Walnut Hills 45. Eagles run out of gas at the finish line. Princeton reaches States for the second time in three years.
Walnut will have a LOADED freshman class next year. Not sure how that will translate to doing better than this year finishing top 8 in the state, but they should have more than 6 in their rotation next year.

Yeah that if MND or Mason doesn't pick those kids off!!

Walnut Hills, Summit, or Princeton - Mari Gerton was going to take off at any of those places.
That is very true. But I also know one program has multiple state team titles and has name recognition like Kelsey Mitchell, Dee Davis and Sole Williams to name a few. Easy to understand the appeal.

The other two offer some of the best, and in the case of Walnut the best, educations around. That should be the appeal. But they stopped being STUDENT-athletes a long time ago.

I feel like it's harder to draw someone to a school with academics in high school than it is in college, though. Especially at a place like Walnut, where the emphasis on academics is known to make life harder for athletes.
