SW Ohio

Anyone have any early thoughts on the major leagues so far GMC ECC GGCL AND GWOC? Feel like its been pretty quiet on here and was wondering if anyone had any predictions for the rest of the year now that we are a solid 5 or 6 games in for each team?

The GMC is going to be Mason and Princeton. After bringing in Stanfield, Mason has a strong trio of her, Parrish, and Habra. Of course Princeton has Gerton, Thomas and others. These two just have too much talent compared to the rest of the league. As for West, the coaching change doesn’t seem to be generating much optimism, though that almost may have been expected. In the GWOC, Springboro has been all the talk after last year's run, but Thorton and their new freshman at Fairmont are forming a nasty duo, so it'll be interesting to see how the league develops. Springboro and Fairmont are clearly top teams in the area. The GCL is clearly Mount Notre Dame, and Seton being the next best team I guess, though not much else stands out in that league. The ECC is more interesting to me. West Clermont is off to a strong start, but I still think Winton Woods is the best team in the league. West Clermont heavily depends on Hale, and Kings seems to have regressed after losing key players in recent years. Milford has potential for the future, but they’re still leaning on a lot of young kids. Walnut Hills is tough and it feels like they can beat anyone on a given night. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone but that's what I've seen so far.

Edit: I suppose we should mention Purcell too? Congrats on winning the MVC and a D3 title I guess?

The optimism around Seton basketball is gone.
Seton will make a run in the tournament. They have a quality win vs West Clermont. Getting beat by a bottom tier GMC team isn't that bad. I think Fairfield would be 2nd/3rd best team in the ECC so don't knock Seton for dropping that game.

Using as much available information as I can get, here is what the RPI should look like at this point. If the state is on the same calendar as last year, it should come out this week!

Will computer count out of state games?
If I remember correctly LY some did/didn't?

Would make a difference in win % (Princeton, Sycamore and I think a few others)

From what I've been told, this year they are accounting for Divisions in your own Win%. That is why there is an Adj Win %. All out of state games are equal to Division 4 opponents. So, yes, they are counting out of state games.

Fairfield isn't that bad? Losses by more than 10. Lakota West x2 (19 & 28), West Clermont (26), Mason (23), MND (33), Badin (36), Fairmont (40). Fairfield isn't a good team.

Who is Fairfield better than in the top 4 of the ECC? Winton Woods, West Clermont, Walnut Hills, and Milford?

Better argument would have been Seton's loss to Fairfield was "a bad game" for Seton. Played back to back nights. Big win against West Clermont and had a let down against Fairfield less that 24 hours later.

💯💯…. I know WC game against seton was absolutely awful, and can only assume seton played awful against Fairfield…. Fairfield isn’t better than the 5 best teams in the ECC…

Is Sycamore a team on the rise?
Almost all Freshmen

A Boxscore that makes you say WOW!!
Down 19-2 after Q1 on the road vs an undefeated (in league) foe?

Great insight SWOH, Sycamore seems to be a very unassuming program. I don't know the grade of the players but if they are mostly Freshmen that is great and bodes well for the future. But no matter the grade, as you mentioned, great result on the road. I don't see much if any self promotion coming from their program either.

Just looked. 5 of the 6 players that logged minutes yesterday are freshman. Impressive! Coach said the heck with the bench. 4 players played the whole game and the other starter played 28 out of 32 minutes.

5 game winning streak after starting the season 1-7.

Absolutely not. Fairfield may be the worst team in the GMC and would also be near the bottom of the ECC.

I really feel for Jim Comarata. Not much to work with there but really puts his heart and soul into coaching those girls.

Great game to watch between Seton and Ursula. Two evenly matched teams. Callie Nichols is a great kid and really good player.
