What a moron. Where is it written that you can only be a fan of one team or conference? OSU is my favorite team. I became a fan of Florida State when Bobby Bowden was the coach. Still follow them and root for them against any other team that isn't Ohio State. I like Kent State for personal reasons. Fortunately I have an above average IQ and I understand why you are in awe of me.

All of the time you say you can’t stand how I cheered for Michigan last postseason. Well who did Michigan play in the postseason? An SEC team. So how could I be a fan of both?

We are not talking about you, we are talking about me. The referendum is on YOU to prove to everyone else how I’m a supposed Michigan and SEC fan. You’re the one here claiming I am both. Just because YOU prefer one team over the other doesn’t mean I also do. So we still waiting over here
 
The obvious major issue with letting Day go is who replaces him?

I left off coaches who are clearly not leaving for various reasons...DeBoer, Sarkisian, Smart.

Current coaches:

Bill O'Brien -- Not good with boosters and all the glad-handing.
Justin Wilcox -- Can really coach, but I don't think you can sell his overall record.
Dabo Swinney -- Not leaving Clemson.
Jeff Brohm -- I'd give him a look, but he's probably a Louisville lifer.
Matt Campbell -- The shine has wore off a bit, but he's worth considering.
Chris Klieman -- Solid coach.
Kyle Whittingham -- Too old.
Bret Bielema -- Not this meathead.
Curt Cignetti -- Too old.
Jonathan Smith -- I like him, but he needs more time.
Luke Fickell -- Not lighting it up at Wisky.
PJ Fleck -- He would take it in a heartbeat.
Dan Lanning -- Solidly in the running, but would he leave the Nike bottomless money pit?
Greg Schiano -- See Bill O'Brien.
Matt Rhule -- I think he wants to see it through at Nebraska.
Lincoln Riley -- Could LA not be all he thought it would be?
Marcus Freeman -- An alum.
Mark Stoops -- Has done as well as can be expected at UK.
Brian Kelly -- Not sure he would leave LSU.
Josh Heupel -- Not sure he's ready.
Eli Drikwitz -- See Josh Heupel.
Lane Kiffin -- Feels like a hard sell to the OSU booster types.
Mike Elko -- I wish he had more experience under his belt.

Former coaches:

Urban Meyer -- No appetite left for him at OSU.
Mike Vrabel -- No college HC experience.
Chris Petersen -- Would he leave the West Coast to coach again?
Jimbo Fisher -- No.
 
Maybe there’s a surprise hire to be had in terms of drawing someone in you may not expect, but IMO this is basically would you rather have Ryan Day as the HC or see him be replaced by Fickell, Stoops, Fleck, or Freeman. Heck, Freeman may not actually want to come back.

There’s no mega star sitting on the sidelines to be had as was the case when Urban was hired, and you can’t have some clown show process of chasing “name” coaches until someone says yes.

IMO the “heat” on Day would be a lot more credible when or if Fickell starts winning at Wisconsin.

The last thing OSU needs is a PRO guy similar to Day. Day will excel as an OC in the NFL but does not check the box when it comes to motivating kids, understanding the entire picture (little things, defense & special teams).

There are all kinds of existing college HCs out there who are more qualified than Day. cjb's lists them.

The guy that’s never recruited a day in his life? Bring Urban and Saban on as recruiting experts to supplement his zero experience in that category and I might be able to get on board.
