Preseason HS rankings 2010-11 (divisions)

I do not think finishing 3rd in the state tournament is struggling. The kid lost 7 times during the season, and think how hard Wadsworth's schedule really is... That's growing pains?

Tavanello was a stud coming out of middle school, and in my opinion, he lived up to the hype. Like I said, he lost seven times with a tough Wadsworth schedule and finished 3rd in the state, far from a "struggling" year. Not to mention, the #1 kid in the country was the state champ that year.

3rd in the state at any weight class in Ohio, are you kidding me? Some people have distorted views on what constitutes success.

Stonewall I have respected you for years on this Forum however at 2 am you need to be reminded to read the actual context that Yankee made his made up argument by paraphrasing, changing words and distorting the intent of the thread. Finishing third at state as a freshman at 215 is HUGE bigger than you suggest however the 4-5 month season that took place saw excited high expectations, some losses in which some to better wrestlers and some considered upsets at the time especially after he finished 3rd. Tavanello was not the subject of the thread but the analogy of how fans should be touting Gunner Lay as a freshman coming in at a heavier weight not the way his (not all) fans started touting him as a shoe in to beat or be even with some of the elite upperclassmen in the state. This vocalization beyond the excitement can create added pressure on the kid and a bigger than normal target on his back in addition to nay sayers jumping on every slip he may make.

Never was there a comparison between the 2 wrestlers, never was the word "struggling" used in describing Tavanello (Yankee translated "growing pains" as struggling and attempted to use it as a quote).

The analogy used Tavanello because he also was highly touted (another lie Yankee attempted by saying I never stated he was touted highly) as an incoming freshman but the fans of Tavs wasn't saying he was going to compete or beat Scales prior to even the Preview!

I think stonewallj may have taken things out of context because he didn't have the benefit of being able to read the entire discussion. The admins were hard at work yesterday evening scrubbing the wrestling forum down. There are a lot of posts on several of the active threads as well as at least one entire thread that disappeared into cyberspace sometime late yesterday afternoon...

Yet they let the Felipe Martinez thread stay up, so that we can hear stories of the kid being 21 years old and that's why he can't wrestle. It's just ridiculous.

Ah Censorship the good and the bad. The good was that the entire rant was uncalled for the bad is that the censors left the post up that started the entire rant, the one that paraphrased, took out of context and changed key words.

Oh well?

Matt Meadows(CVCA) beat Ty Walz in the season opener 11-6. I think this legitimizes his move to 215. His preseason ranking for DIII, might be a little low.

I think Smith from Chanel would beat Meadows, heard he had his way with him at a scrimmage a couple weeks ago...

There may be a little of both with walz and meadows - walz too high, meadows too low. Good result for Meadows yesterday - same to a lesser extent for Kennedy Smith. Either way, we'll find out more on both kids as sample size increases through the month (Meadows at Ironman and Medina, K Smith at Brecksville, and I think could see the a decent Crestwood kid in a dual; I don't have Chanel's schedule memorized for the rest of this month).

Thats because Chanel wrestles such a weak schedule.:thumb: Right Boro.

I agree with the assessment of Meadows/Walz.

I think it's safe to say that when the words "unbiased opinion" are uttered, Boro is not the first person that comes to mind, lol.

I agree with Bucksman, When Smith wrestles well at Brecksville than we'll move Smith up in the rankings.

215 Will be a meat grinder at Brecksville. I doubt you'll know much about Smith after that. All three state champs will be in that bracket! That's just a start..

I believe that Boro Fan has done a great job with his rankings. I know he's a chanel guy but it's nice to know he's a fan of the sport of wrestling. I've been a fan as well and my son graduated 8 years ago from Moeller and we've since moved to the canton area. Keep up the good work, Boro fan.

I think an ip check is in order. No one but Boro Fan himself would think he does a great job on his bias bs rankings.

Yeah you're right, I have two accounts but post everything on one and agree with myself on another, Sting has disagreed with me before which is why I find this surprising as well...

I enjoy reading when Boro Fan posts, why? Because of the time involved processing useful information for all of us to read. By the way, it's fine to disagree with the information which is posted, this keeps the discussion going. We do appreciate your effort Boro Fan.

I agree.....if you don't like his opinion, then dig up some facts to support an alternate take on things. That's what keeps this board lively. How boring would it be if we all agreed on everything?

Looks like you might want to move Walz backup and Meadows back down?

Great to see him avenge that loss yesterday

Let me see Meadows was ranked #8 in D3.He beats the #3 ranked D1 215lber 11-6 and you make it seem like it was a mistake. Then he loses to the same #3 D1 guy 3-2.And you jump back on here and seem to feel that he must have been rated too high in the first place. He was ranked #8 in D3 for heaven sakes. Not #8 in the country, not #8 in all of Ohio, not #8 in D1.He was ranked #8 in D3 and beats the #3 ranked D1 wrestler by 5 and then loses to him by 1.If anything he should be ranked either tied with him or right behind him.Oh by the way I must have missed all of the great Chanel wrestlers competing in the toughest tournament in the country this past weekend.I am sure that they all won every weight class. You are becoming a joke

Meadows (D3) may just be a MH Finalist, and a top 4 at State, so rank him where ever, he placed at Ironman in a very tough weight. Not bad after making a jump from 160 last season.
