Predictions: Year 2007 Ohio Volleyball Official Thread

Nick Strasser from centerville broke his leg in tryouts and has now had a rod put in....seeing that he was such a key player for centerville idk how they will respond...i would drop them from the top four in state tho...hope he feels better asap too

Question for someone from Elder? I'm seeing/hearing this as your starting line up ....

setter - wessel # 1
outside - wessel #2, austin averbeck
weak - big lefty (name???)
middle - hanneken and toth
libero - keith

Fill me in if im wrong

Setter- Johnnie Buttelwerth
Outside- Austin Averbeck and (Keith Friedmann, Mike Kappa, or Alex Herring)
Weak Side- Tony Baldrick
Libero- Travis Schimmel or Alex Bertke
Middle- Nick Hanneken and Nick Toth

The Wessels will compete for positions whenever basketball gets over but right now they aren't even on the team...

Hey any of you LaSalle players...How is your team looking this year?

This is by far our best team since the final 4 team of 3 years ago (I still think we would have won state had it not been for key injuries). This has been the first time in a while (if ever) that we have had a significant number of players play club (Our setter, 2 DS's, and 2 middles). I believe our biggest question mark will be our outside hitters. You really need someone that can pound the ball from out there when your setter has no other options and I'm not sure we have that...not yet at least.

what about ben rechel?
he seemed to be a fairly decent outside although he play libero for attack

He was one of the DS's i mentioned. I hate to say it, but he is way too short to hit outside on at the varsity level. He will definitely play some defense this year, and may even set if we decide to run a 6-2.

Anyway i hear that oak hills has decided that it would be better for the team if Ries did not set... Any truth to this? or did i hear it from a faulty source?

Wouldnt doubt... i bet he hasnt been on here in forever cause he is so mad and doesnt want to talk to us and completely ripped on for bein all talk like he was

skove, kues, jennings, and walsh all were moved up to varsity this year for x
depending on the coaching decisions all four players could help with the team

Yeah I heard you guys were supposed to be decent. I sub for attacks 18 3's team sometimes and know a few guys who play for LaSalle, they seem pretty good. We play you guys on your Senior Night. Good Luck :thumb:

Idk how my name got started in all of this. Probably my gay teamates. But no I am setting this year, running a 6-2 pretty sure. But will occasionally try a 5-1 against bad teams. Because I'm too short to block people who are like 6'5''. My Coach has also told me I can start Libero if I want, due to a lack of good passers. But I have yet to decide which of the two I will do. And yes I did talk a lot of trash prior to try outs, which I probably shouldnt have done because after our showing at try outs and injuries we will be far from equal to last years team. Me and Cella are the only Seniors. With one or two good juniors. The rest of the team is pretty inexperienced

State Rankings?

Everyone . . . just edit these so they become more realistic.

1. Cincinnati Moeller (everyone's saying they're taking states ... we'll see)
2. Cincinnati Elder (JV was strong last year, some should step up; they're in the south)
3. Cincinnati St.Xavier (they lost some pretty good seniors; they're in the south)
4. Mount Vernon (Pat Blubaugh's solid, team should be solid)
5. Worthington Kilbourne (St. Ed's east region style; lost so many seniors/players but they're always solid, Jekeli/Scheaf are strong outside/setter; they've got some other decent guys too i guess)
6. St.Edwards (maybe the north's year? they're solid in the back row but im guessing they're not the tallest team? lost their setter too....)
7. Centerville (Someone got hurt, didn't they?)
8. Hilliard Darby (lost some team, who hasn't? Dreger was a big loss, I'm thinking they'll be decent)
9. Pickerington North (lost some seniors, should be average . . . as usual)
10. St. Charles (random... yeah I know.)

by all means . . . edit (i'm thinking anything everyone but moeller is in the wrong spot)

Ed's above Kilbourne. All returning starters but one(granted it was the setter). Might even put them above Mt. Vernon but its a stretch

rankings . . . maybe?

im starting to think st.edwards and worthington kilbourne are over mt.vernon. pat blubaugh isn't going to make that big of an impact is st.x supposed to be as good, who do they have. same with elder? ur probally right about st.ed's over kilbourne but idk, season hasnt even started.

1. Moeller
2. Elder
3. St.Xavier
4. St.Edwards
5. Worthington Kilbourne
6. Centerville
7. Mt.Vernon
8. Hilliard Darby
9. Pickerington North
10. **who?

worth kilbourne graduated libero moore, the Luckabaugh twins and johnson and ocheltree aren't playing this year.......who's filling in to make this team 5th????

i heard mt. vernon srimmaged pickerington north today. no scores kept.... both teams had streaches where they out played the other but seemed to be about even over all.

kilbourne lost the lookabaugh's, moore, palmer, ockletree, and johnson i think.... maybe? (they supposevely had a loosing record last year) they're setter, scheaf, has improved a lot and jekeli (outside) looks like he's All-State material. i heard they destroyed thomas, delaware, and westerville north at their scrimmage, not that those teams are state quality but....

they're up there because right now it's looking like they can lead the OCC and everyone else in the east lost a lot of players.

how does centerville look like now with that injury?

1. Moeller
2. Elder
3. St.Xavier
4. St.Edwards
5. Centerville
6. Worthington Kilbourne
7. Mt.Vernon
8. Hilliard Darby
9. LaSalle
10. Pickerington North

any better? comment.

i guess st.x isnt as good as elder this year . . . just what ive heard.

darby's in some trouble.

hows lasalle looking, player wise?

best guess is that pick.north takes that 10th spot, they supposevely played well vs. mt.vernon at the scrimmage saturday.

whose st.ed's new setter? i know they've got the libero that everyone thinks is sweet.
