12.00 to watch a HS baseball game.No worries. They all go home from work and are very tired from watching everyone else do their work for them. They will post these on Monday for sure. Their only concerns are that they get their cut at the door.
Yeah. The semifinal game Badin played vs Indian Hill had the scoreboard running. Yesterday did not. Pretty pathetic. On top of that, D2 was the only division not playing on college fields. Seating sucked and parking was ridiculous on Thursday when school was still in session.12.00 to watch a HS baseball game.
No scoreboard, total insufficient seating at Mason. Probably 4-5 deep on both sidelines.
Mason runs it well but just not a good site.
Discrimination. Well maybe that’s for the other forumThe OHsaa baseball brackets are updated as of Saturday afternoon.
The softball brackets were not updated on the OHsaa website until Tuesday of this week.
It was on for both semis.Yeah. The semifinal game Badin played vs Indian Hill had the scoreboard running. Yesterday did not. Pretty pathetic. It's probably worth noting that the guy who runs the scoreboard at Mason is a volunteer. I'm sure he does the best he can juggling his own schedule along with Mason Baseball and now the tournament games - not to mention PBR tournaments taking over that field during the summer. If he only missed one game, I'd say that's not too bad. If complaining about a scoreboard is the biggest problem of your game experience, I'd say that's a good day.It was on for both semis.
All of that is understandable however it was a regional final. Not a silly pbr whatever event. Lol.It's probably worth noting that the guy who runs the scoreboard at Mason is a volunteer. WTF does PBR have to do with this? It's probably worth noting that the guy who runs the scoreboard at Mason is a volunteer. Chill my man. It's not that big of a deal.WTF does PBR have to do with this?
Most of the venues we went over 6 yrs of that travel garbage venues rarely turned on their damned scoreboard.
For a regional HS to not have their scoreboard on...that is complete horseshit.
Unacceptable.
,unless they had a last.moment electrical issue...what an embarrassment.
Yes, it is a big deal.Chill my man. It's not that big of a deal.
But in those sports the game is, in almost all cases, called by the scoreboard keeper and book keeper. Baseball is different. Balls, strikes, and outs are kept by the umpire and everything else is kept by the home scorebook. A scoreboard isn't even needed, and in all honesty, is just bonus for the fans.Yes, it is a big deal.
Ever see a tournament hoops, football game when they didnt run the scoreboard?
H o p e.
Been to enough games at the travel level that dont use them and it detracts from the game.
big time.
It’s just not a good venue for d2 baseball regional. Nice field, nice dugouts, nice seating etc. Way too many spectators without a place to sit. Scoreboard adds to the issue. It’s been in Mason for a long time and I doubt it’s going anywhere. I guess shut up and play should be the mantra. But in those sports the game is, in almost all cases, called by the scoreboard keeper and book keeper. Baseball is different. Was Prasco being used? If it’s that bad, maybe ask for Prasco? It’s just not a good venue for d2 baseball regional. FWIW, I've seen high school football games played without a scoreboard. It's definitely not ideal, but it can be done. I don't think basketball could work with no scoreboard. Score changes too often for it to work in my opinion. But baseball? Nah, not needed at all.
95% of the time we have a working scoreboard at my granddaughters 7th - 8th grade summer ballgames. Not to have a working scoreboard at a H.S. baseball tournament game is sad. It is not that difficult to run a scoreboard couldn't find anyone in Mason to operate a scoreboard?Stop.
Basketball has an official scorer as well at the scorers table. Let's just put a countdown clock and be done with it. To hell with the score, qtr and fouls on the scoreboard....that is just a luxury to the fans.
Football has the first and ten markers on the field. Time and TOs are kept on the field as well. Backjudge notifies QB when the play clock is at 10 and 5 I do believe. Lets just take the scoreboard away in football as well, it is just a luxury to the fans.
You dont think players and coaches, and the media rely on the scoreboards?
Hell, we run our scoreboard on the main diamond for all Freshmen, JV and varsity games and scrimmages as well as summer Jr. ACME and Sr. ACME games.
Bring the games to Mercer Co. guarantee the scoreboards will be operatingIt was on for both semis.
I suggest you call all the other colleges and ask them to put in a bid to host then. OHSAA cant force people to host. And they are under no obligation to do so. With many summer tourneys starting earlier this year they - if they rent at all - are going to follow the $$$ which OHSAA is not known for making them.
I believe the OHSAA does pay any official scorekeeper and scoreboard operators. Its technically thru the host school but you are paid. If host school is not paying those people that is on the school.Kudos to the guy who volunteers for Mason games to operate the scoreboard but for a tournament game either the host school or OHSAA should pay someone to do it.
The sites receive a flat fee for each game hosted. There is no fee schedule set by the OHSAA for the workers at each site.I believe the OHSAA does pay any official scorekeeper and scoreboard operators. Its technically thru the host school but you are paid. If host school is not paying those people that is on the school.
I have no idea on the scoreboard but the venue is just not satisfactory for the level of play. Mason staff does nothing wrong. Just not good enough.Do we know the real reason why the board was not operating or are we griping without fact because it's the OHSAA?
Honestly...I place 100% blame on the facility/AD/tournament manager and not the OHSAA one bit.Do we know the real reason why the board was not operating or are we griping without fact because it's the OHSAA?
Pretty certain we do locally because the guy said he always feels guilty getting paid for what he does for free all yrI believe the OHSAA does pay any official scorekeeper and scoreboard operators. I agree with your opinion of the venue.I have no idea on the scoreboard but the venue is just not satisfactory for the level of play. Mason staff does nothing wrong. Just not good enough.
