Ohio State Football 2025

From looking at the 2024 and 2025 OSU football threads, it seems that Michigan is deeply in the heads of OSU fans, since both have turned into "All-Michigan, all the time." Surely there are better things to discuss.

My reading comprehension is fine. How do you then explain how both the OSU football threads have turned into just talking about Michigan? I figure I'd go to one who claimed that OSU is in the heads of Michigan fans. Maybe it's just because there is nothing else to be said about the season or the next one....But then., I'm not a fanatic, not that there's anything wrong with being an OSU fanatic. Every team needs people who are filled with zeal about them.

Fanatic : a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal

Simple. A Michigan fan keeps coming into the Ohio State forums and downplaying the Buckeyes natty. Not really hard to figure out how if you really read the posts

I think we need to take a wait and see approach to 2025. Too many variables exist as to coaching staff, roster, revenue sharing and OSU's opponents. The close of spring practices and the April portal will give us a better clue. State will be in the Big 10 and CFP discussion, but hopefully without the championship or bust angst of 2024.
Every year at OSU is championship or bust.

Sadly it seems that way. It just seems following Buckeye football in my youth was more enjoyable because the expectations were not amplified by the internet. Street and Smith was the preseason . Paul Hornung of the Dispatch was game day with TV being replays on WOSU.

And how would those examples you posted change the outcome of a game? Tell the truth bk. If Ohio State and Michigan present status were reversed, you would be the happiest person on Yappi.
Still trying to figure out how players getting tattoos changed the outcome of games.

1970 - 2002 no NC's (I lived those years), 3 decades of bust years. After Hayes, 9-3 Earle set the program back as did Cooper. When Tressel was hired no big names even put their name in the hat for the job. Came down to Tressel and Glen Mason those are the facts. Edit: Tressel/ Meyer / Day changed expectations, but again OSU is just one of 3 teams to win 3 NC's this century, might be another 10 years before another NC it is very difficult to win a NC.

Sure it is but the opportunity to win one is much different than it was from 1970-02.

For much of that span, the Poll Era, you had to be pretty much perfect to win a title...it was a popularity contest.

Then the BCS cracked it open slightly, still had to be damn near perfect but at least you got to compete for it on the field.

The 4 team playoff brought yet more opportunity with a little wiggle room for a slip up during the season but still pretty exclusive.

In a 12 team playoff there's no reason for the expectation to be anything less than winning it all. Of course that won't happen every year but you better be in position by making the playoffs. If you lose more than 2 games at OSU something has gone terribly wrong. That's the standard that has been set by Tressel, Meyer and Day and what makes OSU one of the top handful of programs in the country.

Being satisfied with 9-3 Bruce or lose every Michigan game Cooper is the death knell for a program.

Reporting out there would suggest Tyler Bowen, from Va Tech, will be the next OL coach. Has been a full-time assistant coach since 2015, with stops at Fordham, Maryland, Penn St, the Jags (w/Urban), and most recently, the Hokies.

Interesting. He’s been OC there since 2022, along with coaching TEs in 2022 and QBs the last two years. Last coached OL for Maryland in 2017. Held various recruiting coordinator titles at Penn State from 2018-2020. Played OL at Maryland.

I’m intrigued but frankly a bit confused. Edit: not that confused now that I’ve thought about it some. Day is clearly going for a recruiter at that position, a drastic change from Frye and Stud.

Definitely not a big name hire, but as you suggest, the recruiting side of the OL coaching equation. You are spot on .

He's definitely set-up in the DMV. I'll be interested to see how this strong 2026 Ohio class (Greer, Riley, Guthrie) responds.

Bowen was o-line coach under Joe Moorhead at Fordham, who is being rumored as a candidate for OSU's OC.

Because there’s a lot of attention-starved Michigan fans with nothing better to do. Been watching a lot of football this year instead of playing it.

If it helps to keep Hartlne at Ohio State it is a good move.
This ^^^
Keeps him getting poached by another school or the NFL. Keeps his recruiting skills and WR development on board. Only concern would be actual experience meaning Day may have to take a step back from being a CEO coach. Still a solid move.
