Ohio State Football 2025

Day was on Klatt’s podcast, said he expected Frye, Knowles and Kelly to move on and already had plans in place to fill all open spots. I wonder when that expectation came for all three of those guys. There was an article on 11Warriors yesterday that Day said he knew Kelly could be a one and done, so maybe he had always expected Kelly to leave. He and Knowles butted heads bad after the Oregon game, I’m guessing he expected Knowles to dip after that? Both of those seem logical.

Frye is interesting to me. It never seemed like his seat was hot from Day, despite the chatter from the fan base, but I do wonder if the recruiting misses started to catch up to him - be it him not enjoying the recruiting process and the criticism that came with it despite the good to great on the field product or recruiting not being up to OSU standards.

There was no way Kelly was staying long term, he has been a head coach at two major college programs and two NFL teams. I didn't expect more than a couple years max with him. Knowles made at best a lateral move to Penn State. I have no doubt he did not like the discussions had after the loss in the first Oregon game. Well, it proves Day and others in the program were right because the defense was lights out after the loss in the first Oregon game, so good riddens to Knowles if he resisted the changes and criticism after the Oregon loss.

Rumor is Hartline will be promoted to OC, Billy Fessler (offensive analyst and defacto assistant QB coach) will be promoted to QB coach.

NFL > college, it's that simple. I am sure Frye received a pay increase as well, personally, I thought Frye was a great O- Line coach. Just like there are very few really good HC's same with position coaches hopefully OSU can fill his shoes.

Had to go with Hartline. He has earned his stripes . If they were to have gone with someone else , if I was him, I would have started to accept offers from other schools as well. Good GlenOak kid . He will do fine .Plus Day will probably call plays . Day learned alot from Kelley this yr so I expect Day to be better this time around in game

Agreed, plus they cannot lose the #1 wide receiver recruiter in the nation. It is Hartline's turn to rise up the coaching staff ranks.

And how would those examples you posted change the outcome of a game? Tell the truth bk. If Ohio State and Michigan present status were reversed, you would be the happiest person on Yappi.
I will tell you the truth. Life demented pathetic actions will always trump a football sign stealing issue every day of the week (IMHO). And I will never change my mind about that. Hopefully that gives you the truth you were looking for.

Are you sure you want to go down this road? Why did Michigan fire its offensive coordinator a few years ago?
If you have read my posts, I am the one that keeps saying they are all corrupt. They all have skeleton's. It is who gets caught and how bad was the offense. But there are many teams that are snakes and just haven't got caught.

I agree to a point that all big time programs have skeletons but in the end, UM was dumb enough to get caught.

Now that NIL (paying players) is legal, virtually everything is ok to do…..except what UM got caught doing.

So are mics in helmets. Imagine that. Catching up with the times. I don't care if poor osu or anyone else got their signs stolen anymore.

I get why it is Hartline and I get why it more or less had to be him. There are questions and doubts any fan would have, but I also see the possibilities and upside in terms of the right now and the future.

I don't think Ryan Day will be here for more than 3 more seasons, less if he wins another championship in the next 2 years and even less if his family gets death threats when they lose some games this fall. It feels like Hartline is being groomed like Day was. If that is what is happening, it's best to keep him here rather than let him go somewhere else and then try to retrieve him. But he has to do well with play-calling to put himself in position to be the official or unofficial head coach-in-waiting. He will have Day to help him and hopefully he soaked up everything he could from Chip.

But in the meantime, the WR room and recruiting should be stable.

Has Hartline been named OC?

From looking at the 2024 and 2025 OSU football threads, it seems that Michigan is deeply in the heads of OSU fans, since both have turned into "All-Michigan, all the time." Surely there are better things to discuss.

You’ve got it twisted. The Michigan fan keeps talking about Michigan in the Ohio State threads. Ohio State has broken him and it is all he thinks about now.

Birm and Ward, essentially state media, both seem to think Hartline will be the choice as well.
Yeah, I was listening to the 'live show' with them and B. Carp yesterday, but haven't heard TPD yet today. They still thinking Wilson in some type of support role for Hartline/OL as well? They've also seemed to project the whole co-DC approach with Guerrieri and Walton to maintain consistency.

Feels good to be king
