Ohio State Football 2024

tOSU adds former Michigan State and Seattle Seahawks coach Brandon Jordan to the staff as a defensive assistant. No details on the official role (i.e., analyst, quality control, etc.), but is not counted against the 10 allowable position coaches. He was a pass-rush specialist in Seattle, and reportedly a successful recruiter with the Spartans. Before that, he ran "Brandon Jordan Trench Performance", working with several NFL Pro Bowl players like, former Buckeye, Cameron Hayward.

With Michigan under investigation and possibly facing sanctions, could OSU be the first program to reach 1000 wins in college football? If Michigan must forfeit games they could end up losing up to 39 games. Michigan number is 1004 wins before sanctions. If they forfeit the 39 games, they would have 965 wins. Alabama has 965 wins and OSU has 964 wins.
Would be an interesting race to watch.

I just don't see Michigan being in jeopardy of having to forfeit wins. The alleged cheating perpetrator is gone along with most of the coaching staff. Also suspensions have been levied and served, along with the fact the NCAA enforcement authority has been neutered.

Michigan may deserve the death penalty, but I would be shocked to see anything other than a small reduction in scholarships come out of the investigation.

Unfortuneately you are probably right. Money is the main goal of the NCAA. The NCAA has been neutered. For Michigan to get anything less than what OSU got for tattoo gate would be a travesty. With the NIL now the rule of the land, most of the past infractions are none issues. Cheating is one of the last provable and serious infractions left on the books. Will justice be served?

It is interesting hearing more about these behind the scene personnel. Curious how much effect they actually have on recruiting and other player matters. How many people know who they are?

When Michigan defeated O$U this past November, it was win #1001. 1001 in Roman Numerals is MI. Can't mess with what was destined to be ours.

Didn't hurt to have a solid WR named Roman, either

Hail!

2023. Harbaugh stated this was his best and most experienced team he ever had at Michigan. Yet OSU was in the game until the end. Playing at Michigan with a first year QB and a weak offensive line. Overall the weakest team OSU had in the last three years. 2021 and 2022 OSU with one of the best teams in the nation. A future first round QB and an offensive line with future pros across the board. Yet with lesser talent on the Michigan teams, they were able to soundly beat OSU in back to back years. You don't find anything suspicious about that?

Not super suspicious when Ryan Day has continuously fallen flat on his face against other good teams
I think you could even apply that to Urban Meyer. Ohio State since 2014 has only one win against teams in the CFP. I love OSU football, but the reality is the program is rarely as good as its fan perceive it to be.

Yep. In all honesty I think the program as a whole is overrated. Yes there is the sustained success and never a total drop off and futility but OSU also doesn’t have the titles

I would not go that far. With Saban retired now, the entire landscape of college football may change, similar to when John Wooden retired at UCLA and college basketball opened up.

I’m not talking about the here, now, and after. I’m talking about the history up until now

Nope, and already explained

Either, you don't know Football as well as you thought, or

You're simply trolling

Have patience my friend. The hammer is coming.
Is NCAA still investigating Michigan?

The NCAA sign-stealing investigation is likely to LAST MANY MORE MONTHS. Michigan has not yet received a notice of allegations from the NCAA, formally detailing the accusations, and will have 90 days to respond once it does.Jan 11, 2024

I have to give Maple credit. Takes some balls to double down when you know the train is coming down the tracks
Yep - Maple is an interesting person.

He/she supports Michigan and thinks either that there was no cheating or that advance knowledge of what play the opponent is going to run is not an advantage. He/she will continually support that position.

Loves the Dodgers and claims they are prudent with their money and do not overspend on their roster. Thinks baseball is fairly set up in terms of no salary cap or salary floor. Will defend all that with his/her last breath.

I have no idea if he/she support a basketball team. It is probably the Harlem Globetrotters, and he/she will say that all of their wins are earned and they have no advantage in their games.

My understanding that his only tie to Michigan is that a couple guys from the local high school played football there and were good students.

Practice Day 1 notes from 11W during the media observed portion of practice, defense first:

- Sonny Styles worked with the LBers. During an 11-11 formation Styles was the 2nd team Will LB behind CJ Hicks. Interesting development there. Cody Simon was 1st team Mike next to Hicks. Arvell Reese took 2nd team Mike snaps next to Styles

- DL first team was the expected sawyer, JT, Hamilton, Williams grouping.

- Jermaine Matthews Jr rotated in with the first team defense along side the expected Burke, Igbinosun and Hancock

- Downs and Ransom at S

Offense:

- Luke Montgomery was 1st RG and Fryar at RT. RT is still a huge question mark. I’m encouraged with Montgomery seizing that RG spot.

- Somewhat surprising is Hinzman was first team C and McLaughlin was second team C. 11W notes they expect that to switch soon though.

- LT and LG were the expected Simmons and Jackson.

- 2nd team OL was left to right Zen Michalski, Austin Siereveld, McLaughlin, Vimahi, Tegra Tshabola

- similar to C, incumbent Devin Brown ran with the first team first. Will Howard rotated in then Keinholz followed by Sayin and finally Noland.

- 6 players fielded punts and went in the following order: Egbuka, Tate, Inniss, Ballard, Rodger’s and Jeremiah Smith. Personally I think have Inniss as the punt returner until (if) he pushes for a starting role. No need to risk injury to WR1 and WR2.

Wow, Maple peed in some Cherrios. He is a good dude, had to eat $chit sandwiches for 20 some years so he is playing retribution catch-up.
I just view it as finally having some good, warranted banter. Even though there were some close games and a few wins by Michigan, the overall dominance for a twenty year period (coincidentally almost the entire time Yappi has been around) left a lot of Michigan fans deflated. They blew out OSU 2 years ago, won with some cushion last year and had an all timer in The Game’s history this season. It’s renewed some of the fire in the rivalry and you’re seeing that here.
