Ohio State Football 2024

Maybe. But I would then question conditioning. I mean high school kids regularly play both ways. College ball is a full time job, seems they should be in better shape than high school kids.

Did you really just compare high school football to college? Also, most of the big high schools the players only play 1 way

Well, you guys are proving that denial just ain't a river in Egypt.

This thing is serious because it goes right to the integrity of competition. I think when the sanctions come down, the collective denial will disappear painfully fast.

But we will see. The NCAA, having been ridiculously harsh in decades past, has been remarkably lenient in recent rulings. But there are some indications that they are going to bring the hammer down on this one. Cinch up your jock straps, Wolves. :)
Arizona State University received their punishment for illegal recruiting during the Covid period. Michigan's infraction were far more serious compared to ASU. I found vacating records a very interesting punishment.
"On Friday, April 19, 2024, the NCAA and ASU announced penalties for the ASU football program after an NCAA investigation into recruiting violations by the Arizona State football staff during the COVID pandemic.

The agreed-upon penalties include four years of probation for the school, a fine, a self-imposed postseason ban for the 2023 football season (which already had been announced last year), vacating records for contests in which ineligible student-athletes competed, scholarship reductions and recruiting restrictions in alignment with the Level I-mitigated classification for the school."

And if you add in 15 minute quarters in college compared to 12 minutes in high school, college is playing a 5 quarter game compared to high school. Comparing to Ohio high school football, there is no running clock in college.

They are older and on a much better training regiment. It’s silly to think they can’t play longer than in high school.

You are the one that brought up high school kids for comparison. Rotating players in college makes sense. They are older and have a much better training regiment. It is a much longer season in college. The starters should not be ran into the ground.

For all you Ryan Day haters …. Name the last coach at one of the elite schools with absolutely no head coaching experience that has done anywhere near the record of RD? The fact that all his loses are to other elite programs and none to also rans is amazing .. throw in that anytime they beat someone you guys no downgrade it to an unimportant win … he is bound to be a failure in your eyes … this guy has done what almost no other first time head coach has done …. and all you do is whine.

Dudeeeee. They are going to call you a fake fan, because their opinion is the only one that matters. 😂

Very sensitive individuals in this thread lmao. Saying he hasnt met expectations is not a novel concept you only hear on here. Bruce Feldman is as locked in as anybody and he said its championship or bust. If Day was that good then....

Against teams that are actually good, a lot of your guys need at least some rotation for freshness IMO minus the QB, OL, and maybe some select actual “elite” players.

In high school just about all of these guys are always by far the best or at minimum the most athletically gifted. Against a legitimate college opponent the playing field is significantly leveled, and those guys eat, lift, practice, etc. as well as your guys. If you are exerting max effort you should get tired.

Very much agree. Think of Larry Coker at “The U”…elite program that had better talent than anyone in the late 90s/early 2000s. Program gradually slid downward and eventually off the cliff after a few years as it became “his program”. They’ve never recovered.

There are things to nitpick with Ryan Day and yes, he can be better against Michigan and in the postseason. He also quite literally has been perfect against the also ran lesser talented teams and has continued to maintain the high level of talent that he inherited when he took over. Whether he does or does not get over that hump, he has put legit effort into making changes to improve with staff changes that he’s made these last 2-3 years.

A lot of folks would win at Ohio State, but they could certainly do worse as IMO you have been looking at his floor due to his initial inexperience. They haven’t had any fall off, recruit well, and he’s been very open to making changes to try to improve whether bringing in Kelly, Knowles, etc. I’m not that old, but I remember John Cooper. Any talk of getting rid of RD right now is absolutely nuts unless you’re a lock to bring in an Urban, Saban, Kirby, etc. level coach that already has won national titles.

Really? I said college should play both ways? lol. Read better.
I will explain this like you are 5.

You said "they are older and on a much better training regiment" with "regimen" misspelled.

I said "By your logic", which means that I extended your logic. The same is true of NFL players. They are older and on a better training regimen. So using your logic (or lack thereof), NFL guys should play both ways too.

Understand words better.

lol. I guess I missed where I said they should play both ways. Glad you made that clear. Post better.

I remember years ago Woody saying when college only played 10 games and the Pros were playing 14, how if a pro team went 10 and 4 everyone would say how good they did and then Woody said if OSU goes 8 and 2 they want to fire me.

I hear you and agree. Who else could Ohio State get that would be better? Yet the inconvenient truth is, given the expectations in Columbus, he is on the hot seat.

That isn't really apples to apples. The talent level on every NFL team relative to every other NFL team was way, way higher than college.

You also have to factor in the fact kids can just leave now without penalty. All these kids are Day’s players now. He leaves I guarantee a lot of them leave

Yep. He's got a loaded QB room because kids like Sayin talk about him as a "quarterback whisperer". He definitely has a bunch of the kids bought in. Why else would Sawyer, Egbuka, JTT, Henderson, etc. come back when they could have been drafted?
