Ohio Heritage Conference 2022

What’s your problem with Central? They had one bad game and you act like they are horrible. This team is better than I expected. They lost a d1 player to graduation and the qb bailed for greener pastures. But they still won the first six playing with a lot of toughness and determination. They might be the best coached team in the league and Daniel Kamara is an excellent back. That makes them a real threat to win almost every night.
before this week i thought central would be the clear-cut second best team in the south. i would’ve confidently picked them against greenon and southeastern, but now i think it’s a toss up. i can’t deny that Dimitroff has done an outstanding job this year for what he’s been given. don’t think he’s on the same level as Buescher, Forest, and Haines, but he’s brought stability to a program that badly needs it and has gotten the most out of what he has.

After Greeneview, at this juncture I would say the next four teams in the South have little to no separation between them. All are capable of beating each other on any given night.

Central has done the best job of getting the most out of what they have and of being consistent from week-to-week. I don't think anybody thought they'd be great with what they lost, and they've vastly outperformed any and all reasonable expectations IMO. 7-8 regular season wins would be a fantastic season for them all things considered.
spot on.

Greenon played OK last night. 2 of their best players were dealing with injuries so they were in and out of the game. the OC did a great job killing the clock in the 4th quarter once they had a league. gave SE almost no chance to make a comeback.

if Central is going to beat Greenon next week, i think they’re going to have to heavily rely on the pass game.

Nothing wrong with CC. They are a threat to everyone. So everyone needs to bring their A game.

What's everyone's take on when you score a lot in first half and then play JV. But the JV give up 2 TDs. I understand keeping kids healthy and giving JV time. But I always hate giving up points. I argue to leave the Varsity D in and play JV O. Then rotate 2s and 3s into the D with the 1s. Many of varsity want to keep playing and work their butts off to do so. But then get only a half to play. Then when you play a tougher team say in playoffs you are not used to a whole game. I think they need that extra playing time on D to keep that endurance ready. Thoughts?
I know its a double edge sword...health vs the endurance.

depends if there’s a JV game the next day. i prefer a team work in the backups in with the ones until at least the 4th quarter. give the guys reps that you think will be seeing the varsity field next year.

i think starters should at least be rotating in till the end of the 3rd- but at that point should just be practicing your system on D and getting your guys in uncomfortable situations. it’s better to put your guys in a disadvanted situation schematically for the first time when you’re up by 40 than in the middle of a playoff game.

I think your right after G’view there isn’t much difference between the teams. Every team needs to play their A game to win. Last night Cedarville played well and won. Irish did have one injury, the center came out looking gimpy. That did affect the game when the number two center had the bad punt snap but that’s not why they lost. I think the Irish should be favored Friday because it’s at home. They will be clear underdogs at Jamestown and that makes the game against SE huge for both teams. But the chance for Irish success is in the hands of the qb. Kamara will get his yards, they have to have some success passing to keep teams honest on defense.

Greenon is pretty stout against the run, but if you guys pass the ball decently you have a good shot to win. either way, i think it’s a toss up.

What's everyone's opinion on what this Friday's BIG game is? What is THE game to go see?
I think that there might be a few decent games. I think the Fairbanks vs Mechanicsburg might be a decent game, WLS vs Northeastern might be a decent game also but WLS will have to bring their A game, and Cedarville vs Jamestown could be a decent first half game. All the under dogs have a chance to push the favorites but I think in the end, the favorites will be too much. We shall see though, anything can happen in High School sports.

Like somebody else said, I guess it matters if the JV is going to be able to play the next day or not. They didnt have a game the next day so I think it was ok. It does annoy me to no end though when the team getting killed leaves their starters in against JV just to make their starters feel better by beating up on JV players. That makes me want to put the starters back in and score a couple more times on them. Clearly a classless coach.

especially when the coach is throwing up bombs over a short, freshman corners head

Greenon @ Central. Greenon is in the playoffs with a win, is out with a loss. thing game has been REALLY chippy the past few years. we will see how this year goes. i’ve heard firsthand there’s “bad blood” between greenon and central players over the years. but Greenon is hanging on for dear life to there playoff hopes.

I think this is the most interesting game with implications attached to it. I mean all do, but it's in or out for Greenon. I think they may just pull it off, but you can never tell with SCC. they have some serious speed.

I have wondered why they havent moved Northeastern to the South Division? There are 2 other Springfield teams in the South and it just seems to make more sense. Give the North Madison Plains.

Who knows?! Probably made sense to someone at one point. Hard to tell.

Madison Plains is further south than NE.
It is but you are missing the point that there are 2 other Springfield teams in the south.....It would cut down their travel costs immensely, plus it would start a competitive rivalry with all the Springfield teams and you could throw Southeastern in there because they are a stones throw away from Springfield also. Just my thoughts.

I can't see MP going for that. I think the only way NE gets in the south is if they add 2 teams in the north and make the divisions even at 8. But at that point they might as well just split into 2 different conferences.

Madison Plains would leave the league immediately if they had to play in the north. the south is the best geographical situation they’ve ever had. the north would be a nightmare for them geographically and competitively.

i do think at some point some of the south schools will break off to form their own league and Northeastern will be apart of it.

Really doubt NE would leave the OHC. They were an original member. I was told, their old football coach was one of the guys that started the OHC. Don't know if that's true of not, but that's what I heard.

i think at some point there will be a smaller league based from clark, madison, and greene counties. if Southeastern would leave, Northeastern would as well.

I dont know why they dont put together the old Kenton Trace conference, but just add Northeastern, Catholic Central, and Greenon and drop Clinton Massie. I think Yellow Springs used to be in back in the day when they had football, but those days have long past. Waynesville and East Clinton struggle to compete in their larger divisions they play in. Maybe dont add East Clinton.

the old kenton trace conference was a phenomenal league!

If they do that, then the north can add Riverside and WG and reconstitute the WCOC.

Northeastern's problem is that the two current divisions are effectively the little KTC and the little WCOC. 4/6 schools in both divisions have long-standing history and close geographic proximity. Even though NE is a charter OHC member, in the current power dynamic with who's been added I'd argue they are an outsider.

at the time of the formation of the OHC, Northeastern was the only school who came over from the CBC. Most of Northeasterns deeper historical ties are with a most of the original CBC schools (london, greenon, shawnee, northwestern, urbana, kenton ridge). i believe the only other schools they played routinely in most sports before joining the OHC were southeastern and mechanicsburg.

Catholic Central has played NE for at least fifty years in fb and bball. I remember playing out there and the kids throwing stones and yelling “kill the fish”. The next year we played at Wittenberg on a Saturday afternoon. Some of our guys picked up gravel off the track and used when they made a tackle. You could say it got intense at times. Then KR got built and the teams at NE found it harder to maintain quality teams.
