Northwest Conference 2024

I know very little matters in 7 on 7 but to be honest McComb was worse than bad the night I watched them they completed more passes to the defense than they did to their own team. Not sure but imo their JV QB was far superior to the one they had playing with the varsity- if McComb has to pass they are in for a long season. I now know why they are not playing PG this year. It got ugly last year and would be hard for the Panther faithful to stomach again this year
Why isn't McComb playing PG, those are 2 of the top teams in the league. That would be dumb

Scheduling 10 teams in 8 weeks means there has to be teams that don’t play each other. Who knows how they came up with that criteria though. The MAC does it so that the best teams don’t play the worst teams. Having the defending 2nd and 3rd place teams in the league not play each other is pretty dumb.

My thoughts exactly.
Maybe Crestview saw the posts about a local team needing the coconuts to play Marion, challenge accepted. Marion should get some points because Crestview is D-6 and Marion is D-7, at least this year.

I also believe a Rosenbeck has coached at Crestview for 10 years or so and still lives in Maria Stein.

There is a Rosenbeck (HS math teacher on the schools website currently) who coached football at Crestview but that was over 4-5 years ago I believe.

Okay, I didn't think of that but those two teams need to play! I understand the top and bottom not wanting to play each other but tell the bottom team to get better.

Props to having the guts to schedule them. Unless MSML has a drop off, it could be an ugly game. Good though in showing where you want to be in a firsthand experience. May have to watch it next year.

I don’t know if it was ever offered, but they don’t need a home for all sports. The SCAL has every sport that Ft Loramie’s got except for football. Same reason why Anna is a football-only member of the MAC.
Also I know for fact in Basketball for sure SCAL plays each team at home and away.

Any updates on how scrimmages went last night for NWC teams??
Grove scrimmaged Bath and Delphos St. John's, looked decent. Not great, not awful, like most first scrimmages. Offense looked better as the day went on, and defense only gave up maybe a couple scores. Had some pretty big hits defensively and several times the refs blew the ball dead before the QB took a hit

How did everyone else look? I'm curious what Bluffton looked like against Arlington and the Steiners, and how LCC looked

I was at Lima Sr for the 4 team scrimmage. LCC vs Lima Sr was more or less a track meet. I didn't watch a lot of this one as I was more focused on VanWert/Ada but there was scoring going on the whole LCC/Lima Scrimmage. Against Ada, LCC looked dominate, but that may be more because who they were playing. Even though they have some fast receivers and the QB looks good. Didnt see him throw deep but accurate on the slants and short routes. They should contend in the NWC this year

What were your thoughts on Van Wert?

I was able to make the scrimmage for a bit, I thought like you said for a first scrimmage Grove looked good but not in full season shape yet. I always think the 2nd scrimmage is where teams pull away; the good ones get better and some teams may have peaked in the 1st scrimmage. I suspect they will be ready for PG!

Honestly I was surprised how easily the Ada D stopped them at 1st. I think VW was on play # 6-7 and had only gained 5 yds. They eventually scored on their series of downs but on the very last play. After that Ada/ VW pretty much played even. I did not watch those schools JV’ much as I was watching Sr/LCC a little closer
When VW played Lima Sr, Sr did what they wanted and pretty much scored at will. But things got a little chippy between the teams and this must have fired up the Cougars. Lima Sr definitely “won” that scrimmage but VW played a lot better when they had a chip on their shoulder and played good ball after that. VW has some nice athletes but not sure how well that will translate to wins in the tough WBL. Hope I’m wrong since I have always followed VW from afar and root for them
