Who's everyone got for OPOY and DPOY?

I'll say Knouff for OPOY and Miles Pottkotter for DPOY. I think Anna's Aufderhaar can be considered. Led the league in sacks.
I like Stephy for OPOY , with Knouff a close second, done some great things, playing without his two top receivers being hurt all year....

Knouff or Stephy for OPOY. No idea for DPOY but will probably go to a Flyer, although Brody Schwartz deserves some mention. Led the league in tackles by a pretty wide margin, was pretty dominate for our D.

after checking the Stats out for OFF player of the year... Stephy 2,056 yards passing 18 TDs 4 Interceptions
901 yards rushing with 14 TD's

Knouf 1527 yards passing 20 TD's 4 interceptions
575 yards rushing with 6 TD's

two GREAT players and both very deserving players.. but Stephy did it with his two best receivers being out for the year. Niemeyer got in a few plays last week and Schieterman has played a few plays also. the Cats had several players step up to the plate and pick up the flag for those two players... with Dylan Heitkamp should be considered for 1st team WR this year.

Knouf did it by halftime and only ran 2 or 3 games, one due to weather, this should also be considered.

Assuming you attended the ML - M game a few weeks back, who in your opinion was the best offensive player on the field?

This should give you you're answer for who OPOY should be.

I'm sorry I genuinely don't understand Brody Schwartz only getting honorable mention. If you saw St. Henry play this year you know he is our best and most important player IMO. Led the league in tackles and probably damn near doubled up our next highest tackler. If you want to give the whole first team to Marion, Coldwater, and Minster that is fine, but give some credit where credit is due.

All League is out there. No Werling or Wendel at RB, esp. Werling ok. Too bad for Schwartz believe he is a sr. Where does the athlete line up at on a football field.

As expected, Cale is honorary 1st team. Nice touch.

As for the OPOY...i dont care for individual awards. I said on the CW/MSML thread that if i was picking a QB to lead a team to a title I would pick the mSML QB over the OSU Commit from Bellefontaine so......

Minster QB was asked to do much more than the MSML QB on a daily baiss and kudos to coach Goodwin on develping alot of talent to give themselves as many playmakers as possible. Teams who have players with Nintendo type of numbers often times have coaches who feed said players for the sake of chasing stats.

Goodluck to the MAC.......better get it done this year because next sesaon the mac is gonna be way, way, way down.

Yes Schwartz is a senior. That's what I don't really understand. We have 18, really 17 I totally get the spot for Cale, spots for offensive players but only 12 for defense? So we are just admitting that Offense matters more now, or whats up?

Defense matters more , always has, but scoring is sexy. I am impressed with 90.5 tackles in a season, perhaps he will get allstate honors .

It sounds like Schwartz is the real deal - hopefully football fans in SH and elsewhere recognize his skill and contribution.

However, a person must be careful when placing value on number of tackles.

The leading tackler on a defense that just can't get off the field will have considerably better stats than the leading tackler on a team that forces a lot of 3 and out possessions upon their opponents. Some defenders are on the field for 60+ snaps/game, while others could be limited to fewer than 30 (e.g., ML starters in most games this season).

And some schools are apparently quite liberal in awarding tackle assists, while others kind of rarely award anyone but the defender who makes initial contact.

And yes I know I'm simply stating the obvious here.

Totally agree and not trying to argue with you at all. Just saying he got 2nd team last year, and if seen play it was instantly recognizable how important he was for us. If we had a tackle for loss he made the play, if we got pressure on the Qb he was making the play, and oh so man times meeting a man one on one in the hole and bringing him down for minimum gain. I get SH still is not in the upper tier of the MAC but we had a good enough year to deserve one 1st teamer I would say. But then not only that to only get honorable mention. I just don't see how it is plausible that there were 4 better middle linebackers this year. At the end of the day I don't really know the kid, met him a few times and he is a good kid. I am sure he won't let it bother him, but does just sucks to see him not get the recognition that I think he rightfully deserves.

he is a very good player.. but one thing i have noticed about tackles.. the stats guys( or sometimes coaches) for each team counts a a tackle a different way for each team... i go by the EYE test

well then..I guess we just found out that Tosu doesn't have you as the recruiting Coordinator.

No...i just have seen the type of QBs who win state titles, and TSC just does not run the ball often even in scramble opportunities

Like for CW....I would take Brody Hoying over the likes of Keith Wenning, record setting QB at BSU< and drafted by the Ratbirds then got demoted to the Bengals for a couple...

I agree, and also sometimes a team is running away from a stronger defender right into your arms. My son had many more tackles his junior season than his senior year. When he was a senior and a defensive end, they simply ran to the other side. He was recognized by the conference in the end as coaches did vote him first team. Things have a way of working out.

Big difference between what makes a good college QB and a good HS QB. TSC is a pro style QB, Knouf can run or throw, I believe Knouff had 520 yds. rushing and passing combined vs Coldwater and Minster. I will take TSC at OSU I will take Knouff at the HS level.
