Who will be MAC champions

My guess is because of the spread offense yes, I agree with you, but you are not going to beat Kirtland relying on throwing the football. Likely why Otten is running the football more this season.

Edit: Only 4 teams in the MAC have more rushing yds. than passing yds. CW, ML, V, and FR. 2 of those teams will be playing for a state title why because they are committed to running the football IMO.
The only thing I will say is that it’s all about yards per carry. While Fort Recovery has more rushing yards, they average only about 3 yards per run and their passing game is atrocious. Minster averages about 6 yards per carry and has both Stephey and Schmiesing who average 7 and 6 yards per run. Same with Osborn from Anna who is close to 6 yards per carry. They can run the ball, but they both can pass the ball especially Minster with Stephey.

Also passing stats are inflated because a lot of teams flip the ball on jet sweeps, which are technically passing yards, swing passes/swing screens, and quick wide receiver screens. Those are essentially run plays that get added to passing totals.

Final MAC standings:
1. Marion Local 8-0
2. Coldwater 7-1
3. Minster 6-2
4. Anna 5-3
4. St. Henry 5-3
6. Versailles 3-5
6. New Bremen 3-5
8. DSJ 2-6
9. Fort Recovery 1-7
10. Parkway 0-8

Marion won its last five regular season games 208-0.

And that includes matchups against Versailles, Minster and Coldwater.

Minster gave the Flyers their toughest game - and the two will likely meet again.

And 10-0 Columbus Grove appears to be a really strong D-VII squad, with a great running back in Trent Barazza (he gained 245 rushing yds vs previously undefeated Bluffton in week 10).

So the Flyers still have some hurdles to clear to capture another title.

After last nights game its safe to say ML has zero hurdles ahead of them

I wouldn't say that. Flyers are not real deep on the d-line. Like Otten said in the paper very difficult to run up the middle vs ML with Ungruhn at NT,
If he went down that would be a big loss to the interior of the d-line and at tackle on offense esp. vs Minster or possibly Columbus Grove.

Edit: If Knouff was to get injured it would be a real dogfight with Minster. Flyers stay healthy yes, they win state IMO but Knouff and Ungruhn are not easily replaceable, Knouff on offense makes the Flyers special, ML does not have another 11 second flat 100 meter QB on the team who also has great running instincts.

Yes - an injury to Knouff would diminish Marion's offensive productivity a lot and make Marion truly vulnerable

Flyers are currently somewhat banged up - if healthy they almost certainly beat Minster when that playoff game comes around

But if not healthy, Minster is a very real threat - you don't sleep on talent like Brogan Stephey

First year with a new coach end up 5-3 couple plays from 7-1 in the MAC cannot complain. Just had to look it up, we haven't won even a share of the football MAC title since 1996.

Tbh I'm not sure who he's talking about
Winner played with a broken hand last night, and only played on defense I believe. Bills who is the Flyers kicker missed the Minster game and only kicked xp's vs Coldwater. Heitkamp has mostly only played linebacker last several weeks very little fullback.

I guess I was aware of both of those except for winner but those injuries haven't hindered too much. Eifert has been solid at fullback in Heitkamps place. Hopefully that continues

The kid only has kicked 2 field goals all year, they'll be alright

Never said differently someone asked about the injuries and I posted who is injured that I know of. He only kicked 2 FG"s because ML did not need to kick FG's but his kick offs are near the goal line or into the end zone. Close game that could make a difference. Minster will likely have Niemeyer back vs ML if they play again, he is Minster's 2nd best offensive player and one of their better defenders as well as Schwieterman who also played both ways last year. I am old and I have seen a lot of teams that were unbeatable get beat. 2010 like CJ said ML beat Minster 41 - 6 in reg. season than lost in the play offs to Minster 30 - 26. Now this ML team is better than that ML team but ditto for Minster.

Niemeyer played against the Indians on Friday.

I'm almost in tears... that is about the nicest thing you have ever said about Minster in Yappi...you been day drinking today? LOL!!

^^^ Niemeyer, Schwieterman, Stephey

Any local fan of hs football knows those guys are really good - particularly on offense.

Marion will be favored, of course, but will have to play well to defeat Minster in their (very likely) playoff matchup.

If I am a member of FR's football team and also plan to play basketball I would want to opt out of this playoff game to avoid any potential injury.

ML vs FR is a 1 vs 19 matchup - hugely lopsided.

It's David vs Goliath - and David doesn't have a slingshot.

Leave it to a MAC school to not opt out. Hopefully Fort has a good week of practice to help build for next year.
There’s no reason FR should have to accept this assignment. Already had a disappointing year, no reason to add insult to injury. It’s a broken system, shouldn’t come down to this.

The punishment should be that Lockland, Cedarville, and New Miami should be ineligible for the next post season if not 2.
I would agree with Lockland. You competed for a spot all year, then you decline after securing your spot? If they had declined earlier, like Bradford did at least once a couple years ago, that would be different.
