In Professional football, as I am sure Bill Walsh was referring to, I bet a QB would be more likely for injury.

Bill Walsh started his coaching career at Washington High in Fremont CA

He coached as an assistant coach at Cal and Stanford in the ;ate fifties and early 60s

He returned to Stanford as head coach n 1977-78 and won two bowl games

He did not coach a 4 wide receiver no-protection offense at any level

That is shocking. It is crazy to think a man who is known for developing an offensive system, didn't use another system at any level. I assume that Darrel Royal/Woody Hayes/George Halas/ had their criticisms of the West Coast offense, who cares.

I know Lad has said that High School players are not skilled enough to be in an exclusive passing offense. There seems to be plenty of succesful teams out there passing the ball all over the field from a 4-5 wide set. Seems that Lad is set in his ways. No big deal, but it would be silly to say otherwise.

Just like saying that SLC was bound to lose because their QB was set up to be hurt.

Consumerman's attempts to claim that every team that runs the spread offense is leaving their QB exposed is laughable. Give me a break. No doubt Consumerman knows better than the thousands of high school, college and professional coaches who run similar offensive sets.

He can't provide ANY evidence or facts to back up his statements. It's just heresay.

Bill Walsh said so. He also ran a little option during the replacement games.

It appears that ESPN will put Katy #1 in their final ranking.

http://katytimes.com/articles/2007/12/22/sports/00state.txt

If everything else stays the same (which may not happen) that will result in the following from the human polls.

MNW - 3 #1 rankings
StX - 2 #1 rankings
Katy - 1 #1 ranking

On the other hand, the article about Katy as #1 may be hearsay because ESPN would have to leap frog them over a couple of teams. We'll see in a couple of days.

It appears the "other hand" is the truth here. ESPN's rankings were final a couple of weeks ago. There is a national poll that has Katy #1 but it's not ESPN. It's some kind of bogus TV fan poll.

The article linked above is wrong.
