IUDOGS: 2024 - 2025 Ohio High School Head Football Coaching Changes

Good luck with this job. They are in an impossible situation in the OCC. They went 0-7 in the league this year and their division was probably as weak as it’s been in years.
Agreed. It's going to require a lengthy overhaul, minimum of 3 years and possibly up to 5, to get this program acclimated into the OCC. Requires a lot of things that there are not enough hours in the day, and not enough days in the year, to get them in a competitive situation there.

And that's if the next coach can be afforded that long of a rope (~4 years.) A lot of things need to come together, stars needing aligned, in order for them to keep their head above water.

I never understood why Logan was on board with Teays Valley to make the move to the OCC. I don't see them ever competing with either Pickerington, the Olentangys, Hilliards, or those other big schools. Maybe I am wrong though, next guy comes in and gets it rolling

They just aren’t getting a consistent crop of athletes to roll through the door down there like they do in Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, Lancaster, Canal, etc. Those are all growing areas. Logan is not, or at least not anywhere to the aforementioned extent. They struggled in their old league and those were a bunch of smaller, SE Ohio schools. Like I said, it’s a dead end job. As I mentioned above, the Buckeye was down this year. I can’t imagine what a loaded PC does to them.

Buckeye was down this year? 8/8 made the playoffs, 4/8 made it to the second round. That's a pretty good down year. Sure Logan has it's issues but it also has it's merits... Incredible facilities, probably as good a community backing as anyone in Central Ohio and you are almost certain to make the playoffs every year. I'm not a Loganite but had the pleasure of watching them back in the day on the hill. That was a high school football experience like no other. It's not impossible. It's definitely a more attractive job now that they have a conference.

They’re a far cry from the days on the hill, sadly. Logan needs someone who understands the level of depth and program-building necessary to keep their head above water in the OCC. It’s a level of football that requires a 365/1 & 24/7 churn of urgency. TV understood that and it has generally paid off JMO.

The part that hinders Logan’s situation is two-fold: one is controllable, other is out of grasp. They can control writing schedules where N-Y & Warren are the prelude to Pick Central, and whether they want someone whose only experience of big school ball (to guide them into the OCC) was in WV. They can’t control the demographic gap issue that is widening, not narrowing, in their district.

As for the Buckeye;

Reynoldsburg has been a general mess these last two years. It seems like their unconventional hire over this summer may (?) have breathed new life into the program, but they have a long way to go and who knows how long the leash is.

CW seems like they’re stuck in the mud. Been to multiple games there these last two years and there’s a lot of contention against the coach that bears out in the stands when they repeatedly mess up the clock inside a minute to go before half/end of game.

The Gales seem to be in program purgatory. 3-7, and one of those wins came through the ‘buy a win’ lottery (Akron North, seriously?) They restructured the JH program a few years ago hoping it pays off, but there’s concerns about nepotism standing in the way.

That’s not saying much considering the number of Div. 1 teams that make it.

Pick Central, Lancaster, Reynoldsburg were all down by their standards. If Newark continues to get on track Logan is really in trouble. I’m not sure when they can win a league game.
