General NFL Chat

Stafford is a great qb, played a really good game but also had 5 sacks for 33 lost yards, 2 fumbles losing 1. Unfortunately his team lost.

Allen had 2 td’s, who cares if they are rushing or passing? The ball is in Allen’s hands. Allen had zero turnovers and took 1 sack for a 1 yard loss. Most importantly Allen & the Bills got the W.

LAR wr Puka dropped a sure 1st down pass and Bal te Andrews dropped a two point tying conversion pass. Both great all pro players. Do you think both teams would love to have those plays back and have their qb’s rush for a first down or successful 2 pt conversion?

Allen is physically the most imposing & talented QB since John Elway. He can most definitely throw the ball all over the field. His receivers are Amari ‘on the wrong side of 30’ Cooper, a rookie, a 2nd year guy, a vet te Knox, a 2nd year Te Kincaid & rb Cook. All solid players but none are all pros.

Today’s two games were both in bad weather. The only WB not to throw a int or out the ball on the deck…..Josh Allen.
Do you want to hear a little fact that will blow your mind? The guy who leads the Bills in TD receptions with 6 (Hollins) is also the GUNNER on the punt team.

The Bills also tied an NFL record for the most different receivers caching a TD pass with 13.

Over the season Allen did more with less then any of the QB's in the divisional playoff round with the possible exception of Mahomes. This is why Mahomes and Allen are the two best QB's in the NFL followed closely by Jackson & Burrow. And if he can duplicate this seasons play next season, Jayden Daniels will be joining those 4 to make it an elite 5.

KC and Buffalo have very good o-lines and defense, QB does not need to be great to win for either team fortunately for Buffalo cause how many times did Buffalo make the SB relying on Allen and Diggs answer zero.

Edit: Philly is another good ex. less you think Hurts is a great QB. Very good o - line and the addition of Barkley to take advantage of that line.

Allen has turned the franchise around with his elite QB play. There is no rational argument disputing this. Before Allen arrived the Bills had gone 18 straight years without making the playoffs; 26 straight years of not winning a playoff game & 24 straight years of not winning the division.

Since Allen was drafted the Bills have made the playoffs in 6 of his 7 years; won the East 5 straight times and have a 7 - 5 playoff record and are making their 2nd trip to the AFC championship game. And there were times in the playoffs where Allen was dominant and the Bills lost - remember "13 seconds" against the Chiefs?

If you don't think Allen is a great QB you don't know football. IMO the stats and on field performance clearly place Allen as the 2nd best QB in the NFL just behind Mahomes and a little ahead of Jackson & Burrow. Can you imagine Allen's production with the Bengal WR's?

FYI, Allen has set all sorts of jaw dropping QB records since entering the NFL including my favorite where he has gained at least 4,000 total yards & scored at least 40 TD's for FOUR straight seasons. The best in the history of the NFL before this was only two straight seasons.

And for the record, before this year the Bills had at best an average and often a below average O line. Allen's extreme athleticism allowed him to extend plays that few other QB's could. As a franchise, the Bills prioritized defense at the expense of offense. Diggs was the ONLY big time offensive player signed by the Bills in FA since Allen's arrival. And in the 2019, 20, 21, & 22 drafts the Bills used their 1st round pick on defensive players NOT offensive players.

As for Diggs, it clearly was addition by subtraction letting him go and swallowing the 31 million dollar dead cap hit this season. Allen elevates WR play. Where else does a punt coverage gunner lead their team in TD receptions? Diggs was a diva and a lot of Allen's INT's were forcing throws to him.

Josh Allen may be the most important player on his team in the NFL, Mahomes included. He's durable, he makes big plays, he makes small plays, he defers when necessary. He's not in your face all the time, very humble. Don't see alot of drama around him.

Never heard him ever talk about a contract. I think he currently has the 13th highest yearly salary among QB's. I am 100% confident that he will follow the Brady example and remain grossly underpaid in order to enable the Bills to put the best players around him.

It's freaky how perfect he is for a community like Buffalo & Western NY.

It's amazing how some guys don't get it and never will vs. the guys that do. Meanwhile you have Lamar throwing his helmet on the sidelines when things go wrong. There's one way of doing things, and the winner's way.

Ok, so here we go again. Last year, Caleb Williams was an up and coming QB. Drafted by the Bears, was going to be the savior. Things implode, coach gets fired. New coach is hired, rather, rinse, repeat. Some of these coaches have spent 15-20-25 years to get to the top of their profession, and they get canned in less than a season, meanwhile the drafted QB stays. It's madness. How long do you think Ben Johnson lasts? Also, now that Dan Campbell has lost both his coordinators, and pending losing players to free agency, how long before his seat gets hot? NFL, Not For Long.

I think people expect way too much of rookie QBs. The Daniels of the world are the exception to the rule and most are much closer to Williams. He has a chance to be good as long as the poor quality of his team doesn't get him killed first(e.g. Tim Couch). Get him some decent linemen and a good back and he could be just fine.

As for the rookie QBs, outside of his injury issues, I thought Penix was the best of the bunch with Daniels. If he can get past being injury prone he could be good. He also has a much better surrounding cast than most young Qbs.

A Ravens fans take on tailgating and attending a Bills game. Remember it was 12 degrees & snowing lightly with a wind chill of minus 5 at Sunday's playoff game. I've attended a lot of games across the country and tailgated before a lot of Ohio State games. But the Bills tailgate is just different.

I think the rookie QB thing needs to be examined. Here's the thing, do teams play their rookie QB's to placate a rabid fanbase, or do they really think they are good enough? How many times have we seen a rookie QB start when there is a better veteran QB on the roster? Isn't it about winning, or selling tickets? I'm a Tennessee Titans fan, I know Mason Rudolph isn't a franchise QB, but I also know Will Levis will never be one. Rudolph gave the Titans the best chance to win each Sunday, yet Levis was the starter for about half the games. I think Anthony Richardson with the Colts is the same thing. He's not an NFL QB. Athletic, great arm, but he's not a quarterback. Last year, Garner Minshew gave the Colts the best chance to win each Sunday, he was gone this year.

The Panthers are another example. The new coach finally had his fill of watching Young be awful and put in Grandpa Dalton. They then started doing much better. Dalton eventually gets hurt. Young ends up back in the starting role and with a little observation time and seasoning actually plays okay as the season winds down.

Very true. I feel for guys who are veterans and THEY KNOW they are better than the young buck, but they just swallow their pride (along with getting a big paycheck) and be the backup . To me part of pro sports has died where it's not about the competition anymore, it's about marketing, it's about constant change because of fan interest. Is it a shock that Baker Mayfield is having success now? Maybe to a point, but maybe the Browns just pulled the trigger too quick and didn't let him fully grasp the pro game. There were QB's in the 70's and 80's who were with the same team for 8-10-12 years, going through multiple seasons. The powers that be understood that if the team was bad in alot of areas, the QB would suffer, heck think about poor Archie Manning? How long would he had lasted in today's NFL?

Part of the real problem with Baker was that he was hurt and the team allowed him to push through it and play. He was then judged by his performance when injured. If the d!p$h!+$ at the Browns would have sat him down and not gotten a woody for Watson, he could have led them to plenty of wins once he got healthy. He'd have never been a star but his slightly better than average would have worked with that roster.

Yes, that is true. But the other thing is I think the fans were done with him. Too many fan bases have too much of an impact on teams. The push to win every year is too great. Just think if the Browns hung onto Baker? They'd have their QB for the next 5 years.

Cleveland fans would have latched right back on the second he became successful again. I was at the game where he first came in for an injured Tyrod Taylor and I've rarely felt such excitement in that place. In actuality, his bigger problem may have been his lack of popularity in the locker room rather than his popularity with the fans. He was not well liked by his teammates.

“maybe the browns didn’t give Baker enough time” when he never completed more than 64.3% of his passes until this year is certainly a take. Hell, before Tampa he never completed 64%+ in a season.

Kansas City will beat Buffalo in a close hard hitting game. It should be a very exciting game with the Chiefs pulling it out at the end.

Even though it seems like the Eagles dominated the first half, I think the Commanders still have a good opportunity to win this game.
