But they are going to need other guys to step up and score the ball when Greer is getting face guarded. And take care of the darn ball. Depth has always been an issue but Coulter has never gone deep into his bench ever, so that’s not changing anytime soon.

That’s not true. A simple look at the GCL website would show you that.
 
CJ goes into the half up 35-18. Quite a shock after their recent performances but it’s CJ/Alter so you know you’re always gonna get a great effort.
 
Watched the game on YouTube. I saw none of the swag or confidence that Alter showed earlier this season. Seemed like CJ flat out wanted it more. It seemed like Alter had a ton of turnovers and CJ had a lot of 2nd chances off of offensive rebounds. Alter is way too talented for a showing like that right before the tournament.

Other than an overrated Greer...he's MAC player at best. Who on the Knights is "talented" at a State contending level?
 
Just food for thought here. Maybe the Knights didn’t take this one serious. Night before Alter beats Badin. Emotional senior night chance and to clinch GCL outright. Coming off a tough toss against Northmont just 3 days prior. Win that. Then play a meaningless the following day down at CJ. You already won the GCL, you already locked up the 1 seed. Again just thinking out loud here but to state the obvious the knights didn’t look like a state or even regional contender Saturday evening huge let down

A meaningless Alter-CJ game?! You really must not be a true Alter fan. Where's the mute button.
 
Shoot you could even tell that the kids don’t care as much about the rivalry as past generations by looking at Alters student section turn out Saturday night man

Prime example right there. This game just doesn’t mean as much to the kids as it did 10-15 years ago. 0 students standing up cheering. ZERO.
 
Keep making excuses. CJ doesn’t give you enough student tickets for much of a student section. No one’s students stand and cheer during a butt whoopin like that. That picture was later in the game. A lot of their students left.

Can't articulate what best describes this version of Alter. Polite? They got enough size they should be absolutely pounding the boards and denying lane buckets. They have enough defensive backcourt depth to press. Everybody D2 coach in the state and every league opponent knows they'll roll out that 2/3 matchup and ride it until trailing. Lately the Knights havent generated enough offense to assume they can finesse their way to another district trophy on formula alone. It's the anniversary of '99 team that won scrapping and clawing through something like 6? consecutive OT games...Imo ratcheting up the pressure, being MUCH more aggressive 3/4 court might cure this lethargic trend and generate some better pace. They got a whole half or better to give up 5 meaningless fouls denying and ball hawking high.Alter has kids riding pine w pretty decent court sense who played better athletes en route to the Glenville game in football. May be time for a little testosterone trial in the earlier rounds. Tactical changeup with what they got is very doable, none of the top 10 guys are total newbies.. In another age that show vs Chaminade would have merited a long RTA bus ride and reflecting walk back to E David. Sad effort.

CJ has had a tough year, losing a lot of close games including four in a row leading up to the Alter game. One might have expected CJ to be the team to give up. Instead they came out hungry and determined to win. Every time somebody beats Alter it becomes what’s wrong with the Knights? Same thing with the Fenwick loss. Maybe Alter just got whipped. How about some credit to CJ and Fenwick for playing harder and out playing them?
 
Fenwick won. CJ won. Facts. $$ bet Alter's aspirant 6th and 7th graders can recite Alter 101= beat Chaminade, win vs Fairmont, don't lose to Carroll. The Coed sorts itself...

I’m still trying to fathom why this would be the line of thinking for the Alter kids. Sure the league was locked up but these are the premier two div 2 programs in the area over the last few years. Last time I checked CJ is the team in this league that’s won the regional three times in the last 10 years. Over that time frame, the series almost dead even. Why would the Alter kids not care about the rivalry?
