EBC Wrestling 2023-2024

The top 4 of the EBC, Carrollton, Salem, Minerva, and Marlington are going to be neck and neck for the dual title this year. I'm going to predict that none of them go undefeated in league this year and we have multiple teams tied for the top spot at season's end
Carrolltowns gonna bring home the bacon!🐖

Considering the west branch coaches blatant alt account from last years thread just posted that minerva is a dark horse right after the dual tells me that minerva won by a boat load lol. ^^
Thank you it’s not a blatant alternate account. It’s his wife!! I have nothing to hide and again Minerva has a strong team. See unlike some of you that hide behind your accounts and stir up drama like 16-year-old high school girls do, credit can be given to other teams when credit is due. West branch is 80% freshman 5% kids who wrestled previously and came back out again this year and you have probably three or four that were on the team last year. Wrestling is one of the toughest sports that are out there. Rather than continuing to make it as if it is some life determining situation, made dramatic through social media; how about we just realize that there are some teams and some wrestlers that enjoy wrestling. Minerva’s football is no good I’m sure there are jerks out there that make a field day with Minerva when it comes to football. But I’m also sure I could get onto the Yappi football thread and not see disgusting comments about coaches. So whatever you guys have up your butts about my husband just keep it there cause at least it’s keeping your s*** plugged up in your head.

Oh and before people come at who won and lost tonight, yes my kid, “the coaches kid” lost. It’s also okay he lost. Wrestling isn’t determining his life. Also, people should gain a little bit of background before they start running their mouths too. When you take a kid who didn’t do anything for almost 8 weeks due to personal health reasons and then you throw them in to the season, yeah it’s going to be hard. One thing I feel a good majority of you on here. Need to understand is that I don’t think any of you put yourself in other peoples shoes. This site does nothing but bashing. We are a league and yes, good friendly rivalries are awesome to have however, over the years especially the last two years this site has been beyond disgusting hence why I did create an account.

Carrollton 43
Marlington 24
That's a great win for the Warriors, have the box scores?

Minerva 57
West Branch 18

Minerva FF 113
West Branch FF 215

Minerva is, like most seasons, a great dual team. The end of the year should be very exciting.

Salem 43
Alliance 26
Box score for this would be interesting too, how'd the Quakers fare at 190 and up?

All EBC teams will compete tomorrow and Saturday at TopGun. Salem is back at TopGun for the first time in recent memory. Another good add to their improved strength of schedule this year.

There will likely be a good share of dual previews on day 2.

Look for Carrollton to be top 5 again, Minerva rounding out the top 10, Salem/Marlington top 15 range, Alliance bottom 10, and West Branch should be wrestling to avoid a last place finish.

After R16-

Salem 4th
Marlington 6th
Carrollton 24th
Alliance 25th
Minerva 28th
West Branch 33rd

Carrollton seems to have only entered in a handful of guys, possibly due to points or load management. But their main four at 106, 113, 132, and 138 should still be enough to propel a solid finish.

Other notable wrestlers out -

Marlington - Hall, Hancox
Salem - Harmon, Jezek
West Branch - Wayt
Minerva - Norris
Alliance - Mozden

Is Mozden going to be able to wrestle this year? Heard some rumblings he might be done for good

Carrollton 8th, Minerva 12th, Salem 19th, Marlington 21st, Alliance 41st, West Branch 42nd.

The top four teams placed well barring some missing wrestlers. The most impressive/surprising showings were Minerva’s 120 and 132. Carrollton 106 also had a win over previous projected state champ. Overall, still a solid showing from the EBC.

What are the "IRON BOYS" events that I see on some team's schedules? Thanks.
Over the past 10 or 15 years junior varsity tournaments have become tougher and tougher to find. About 15 years ago I realized that our JV wrestlers at Marlington were likely to only get 5 or 6 matches during the season which I thought was unacceptable. That's when we started hosting "Ironboys" at Marlington every other Monday evening from 5 to 8pm. (Several of us coaches called them "Ironboys" because they were 'just a little bit' below the level of the Ironman Tournament. -Tongue in check sarcasm intended.-). We would invite 5 or 6 teams to send their "true" JV wrestlers to our field house and we would match them up and try and get each kid 4 matches in 3 hours. The popularity exploded as coaches saw this as way better than a 6 hour long double elimination JV tournament on the weekend. When I stepped down as head coach in 2015 and Andy Lamancusa took over he expanded it even more. They now run six mats and sometimes have 150 wrestlers. It is rapid-fire JV wrestling. No team scores kept, no admission charge for spectators, no questioning officials' calls......just lots of great mat time for less experienced wrestlers. You have to see it to believe it. The field house is packed.

One of the better things i have seen on here in awhile!💪

Salem and Minerva should be a good one, the rest I can't see being very competitive. Give me the Lions in a tight one
Alliance and Carrollton was streamed on Straggat Media on Youtube. Didn’t see/hear final score, but Alliance won 44, 65, 75, 90, 285. Carrollton wins 7 of the last 8 matches. Carrollton dominates.

Salem beat Minerva 40-24 via Minerva’s Facebook. Minerva gave a FF at 113, wrestled their 175 at 190, and Burt beats Brocklehust at 138. Salem wins the last five matches of the night. Salem cruises.

West Branch and Marlington score?
