Dover football 2025

Whats everyone's thoughts going into next year? Got some good kids coming back and had some young players have to step up due to injuries and got alot of playing time. Any word on who's gonna be the coach? And anyone know who our non league games will be against?

I don’t believe in football (as they’re not playing a full OCC schedule)- I think that starts in 2026. Maybe in the other sports, though?
I thought it started next year? But either way I'd like to know if anyone knows a schedule? Are we playing green again? I hope we keep that series going.

No it looks like most sports in 2025, football in 2026:

Here’s the latest schedule that I found in another thread:

DOVER
1@ Canton GlenOak
2
3(H) West Holmes
4(H) Columbus Academy
5@ Ashland
6(H) Steubenville
7@ Wooster
8(H) Mansfield Madison
9@ Linsly (WV)
10(H) New Philadelphia

Edit: added week 4.

Looks like just missing Lexington and Mansfield from the OCC. Unfortunately no Green or IV next year (at this moment). Also apparently ended the series with Canfield? But I could see them waiting to fill the other weeks first, as those two also seem to find a week to play.

IV picked up NP next year on their schedule, so I think they chose not to play both Dover and NP next season. I hope they get back to it again in 2026 as it’s a great game and a great gate for both schools. It’s the best attended game of the season for Dover, besides NP and possibly Steubenville.

CANFIELD
1(H) West Branch
2
3
4@ Poland Seminary
5@ Youngstown Chaney
6
7@ Louisville
8
9@ Warren Howland
10@ Boardman

It might be possible for Dover to play Canfield week 2. That is the only week they are both currently open.

Dover will need 1 of the 2 openings to be a home game so that will likely be the deciding factor.

a as was

IV does not have NP on their schedule next year, they have them in 26

Why, does he have something against Garaway I'm just wondering I would love to visit Crater again. Yes Garaway is smaller but will almost guarantee 8 to 10 wins every year.
It's kind of a lose/lose for Dover. If they beat Garaway it's because they were bigger, but if they lose it looks worse.

Why is it always the narrative that Dover rejects other teams, maybe Garaway is not interested

It would be a great game again it's not like garaway won't win 8 to 9 games next year. Close bring in great crowds. Maybe one day
Garaway scheduled Cardinal Mooney & West Muskingum. They are not afraid to schedule tough teams, and I'm sure won't shy away from Dover. Still for someone who grew up in T County its wild that there is even a discussion that Garaway and Dover should play each other!

As others have said, Dover playing Garaway is kind of a lose-lose for Dover unfortunately, but I think it would be a great scrimmage, and think they should start there.

I agree especially your last sentence. I think Dover was about 10 years ahead of the rest of the T county region back in 2006 when Dover made its first trip to the regional finals followed by 5 more in the next 6 years, but now I think IV proved itself with 3 pretty good games and 1 win over Dover and Garaway and Ridgewood would both be tough outs when playing Dover during good years.

Definitely, and I think that is a testament to Ifft's legacy. While so many teams in the county bunkered down with the Wing-T ad Power I, he began to throw the ball more. When those Wing-T teams began to throw the ball a bit more, he went full air-raid. I remember he was one of the first coaches to take plyometrics and speed training seriously and supplemented his strength training with them. In a way, Ifft's innovations kinda forced the other local coaches to see that if they don't adapt, they will fall behind. Once they embraced it, the playing field began to level out.

I agree with this. It makes Garaway a better football team but for Dover it doesn't do anything for them. You don't get better in division 3 by playing division 5 schools.
