D7 Region 27 2024

Symmes used to be badass in the 00’s under Rusty Webb. They are the answer to the trivia question “the only SE district program to defeat NC in the smallest division’s playoff.” If it was widened out to the general playoffs, it would be them and Paint Valley.

Can we name the R27 playoff program that is undefeated against NC all time? ;)
I witnessed that NC/PV overtime game…very good game. PV went for two and got the win.

FC & GCC headed to OT. FC picked GCC off in the red zone with a minute left.

edit: guess not. GCC ball with :45 left FC punting.

edit: GCC walked it off

Looks like Trimble is locked at the 6
Danville will be the 1 if eastern meigs beats southern

Not a lot can be taken from this game

Notre Dame 48 (5-5)
East 6 (1-9)
Titans will host a playoff game I believe at 5-5.

Monroe Central 52 (9-1)
Shadyside 0 (3-7)
Tigers take one to the chin to end the regular season. On the road for week 11.

Frontier 7 (4-6)
River 6 (4-6)
What a shocker.

Southern and Eastern Meigs play tomorrow.

Grove City Christian 20 (8-2)
Fisher Catholic 14 (4-6)
A valiant effort by the Irish.

Berne Union 7 (3-7)
Fairfield Christian 6 (3-7)
Courtesy of @The Dock the Knights missed the game winning field goal.

Strasburg-Franklin 41 (3-7)
Tusky CC 0 (0-9)
Tigers going to Steubenville CC round 1?

Cameron (WV) 62 (8-1)
Bridgeport 7 (3-7)
Bulldogs probably eliminated.

Threw the react I did for a reason.

Nah. Not uh oh.

Don't care what the range of outcomes would be, or how it's not the best of round 1 matchups to draw.

Football is hard. Playoffs are supposed to be hard. Time spent feeling sad/gloomy about 'what may happen' is time not spent well.

-- -- --

This team sounded like they were hanging on by a thread mid-way through the year. Injury bug and the general schematics of where the injuries were, how it was just making the wall to climb larger and larger.

Plenty of schools in that county want to see that program lose, to get humiliated, to be done with. And they want to see the whole place become a drop of water in an endless sea. They don't give two [blanks] about what’s honorable, what’s respectable, what the basis of even having these games are in the first place.

Come into the house of one of those, hell they got nothing to lose. Already drawn out of playoffs by end of week 8. Too many kids on the other side acting like The Great One, except The Great never lost to the Green on the field. What happens? Outhustling them to loose balls with less knees to work with. Going multiple rounds in the ring, there ain’t no bell being rung, in the trenches. Winning, and winning, and winning. Blink of an eye, it’s 21-0. 21-0 and you got a sophomore catching a needless, stupid and dangerous crackback.

Four plays later? That same kid who took the dirty hit? A-gap, shot out of a cannon. Slammed the door shut. 28-0.

Forcing more turnovers between the 2023 game and the 2024 game vs them than they got up total points (set aside that touchdown that came with ~1 minute left.) Is that literal or metaphorical? IDK. The number’s about dead even.

Come into week 10 with a game that understandably would be dreadful to play. Just one minute away, or less, from breaking fantastic50’s 1% confidence interval that says you even had a chance.

--- -- --

IDK what the score’s gonna be. It doesn’t matter. All this talk about “well do we really need 16 teams in the playoffs?”

Let’s put it this way… they’re more deserving than some of the schools that wish they’d go away for good. Seen who the school down the street will play week 11. Seen their opponent four times in the regular season. Let’s just say, the Irish won’t have any apologies to proffer for being in the playoffs. As they shouldn’t. All anyone who cares or cared about the program can ask for is two things: 1) you come what may, and at the end of the day you shake hands when you win and lose. 2) You stand on your business every play, regardless of what the score is. You play the way the game is meant to be played at this level. You play the way what playing for your coach confers.

That’s all that can be asked of. Been away and will continue to be (not because of the kids, but for the kids), yet that doesn’t mean these kids deserve less dignity for what they are on and off the field.

FC is playing with house money, and if that's who comes to The Sty week 11. I'll be damned if I don't welcome Fisher with open arms.

Two schools where the difference in makeup is as wide as the Atlantic Ocean. 47 miles separate the two, yet in some regards they may as well be 4700 miles away.

And yet, they are bound by many of the same general traditions. Were these schools to do a student exchange, the first five minutes would be surreal. By the time the school day ends, though, it’d feel just like home.

It’d feel like home because there’s more in common than in difference. Camaraderie, the sense of family. Cut from the same cloth in the end. Both school-communities put their behinds into every single thing they do.

The best example I can think of? Maintaining the concept of respect for your fellow man in the process. That, and honoring your opponent.

Both schools have generally great athletics and rock-solid camaraderie. They pump out leaders (I am not one) hand over fist. Both of these school-communities understand athletics as an extension of the classroom to a T. Their kids understand that, and it gets beaten into their heads.

Phil may finally notch that winning record against the green and white, yes. Presuming that it happens, hats off to Phil and the entire Trimble community across the board. For a number of FC kids, it may indeed be their last time wearing the helmet. You can’t pick your opponent, no, but you can pick about how you respond to your opponent’s challenge. Score be damned, 48 minutes of why you play for FC is what counts. And this is the game where, in many regards, that matters.

"Bad things are gonna happen, how you react to them will determine the outcome of this game."

At the end of the day for Fisher, it gives them another week of practice for those kids who return. Those kids have 1 more week under there belt. And they get to experience playoff football. FC has always had my upmost respect, and if they come to Glouster next week, I know there giving us their best shot and more.

Too true. Seen too much of ‘that’ on the decade-plus I’ve been around the block. See too much to the point you question why you’re there to begin with.

They do. Appreciate that, for them. It’s always been an honor for my Alma to have the level of ambassadorship shown by the Tomcats over the years, even if the writing was on the wall.

The ambassadorship will always be alive and well! FC has nothing to lose, now. They've exceeded everyone's expectations. Even mine, truthfully. Week 11 kickoff will roll around, and these kids will be thankful they are playing one more week, no matter the outcome.

From Bridgeport to Danville, is it better to go 70 to 77 through Newcomerstown and Coshocton or to Zanesville and up 146?

Google maps shows both routes are a little under 2 hours. I’m just looking for recommendations on the best road to take from the interstate.
