Cleveland Browns 2025 Edition

They've again restructured Watson's contract, converting some of the money to a signing bonus, freeing up some salary cap.

They've again restructured Watson's contract, converting some of the money to a signing bonus, freeing up some salary cap.

Well, the Browns went from being about $20 mil over the 2025 cap to now having $12.5 mil in cap space. The updated cap number for Watson:

2025 - $36.9 mil cap hit
2026 - $81.6 mil
2027 - $28.2 mil
2028 - $17.9 mil
2029 - $8.9 mil

Watson is a free agent after the 2027 season so his cap hit currently extends 2 years past. The Browns will have no choice but to do the same thing next year to reduce the $81.6 mil cap hit.

It’s a contract that just keeps giving and not in a good way.

He's going to end up with contract payments longer than Bobby Bonilla.

The recent reports could lead one to believe that either the Browns are planning to draft Sanders or are sending up a huge smokescreen:

With Sanders in the spotlight more than any NFL quarterback prospect in recent memory, it's led to conflicting rumors about the budding star. Longtime NFL reporter Josina Anderson first reported that one team's quarterbacks coach said Sanders came off as "brash" and "arrogant."

This was followed by NBC Sports' Matthew Berry reporting that two people from different teams called the quarterback "unprofessional" and "disinterested" during their meetings.

Numerous analysts and media members have come to the defense of Sanders, and other teams have also offered positive reviews of the expected top-10 pick.

One of those teams is the Cleveland Browns.

As Cabot reported, the Browns specifically left the meeting "impressed" with Sanders and "didn't find him to be arrogant or brash."

"The Browns first met with Sanders one-on-one at the East-West Shrine Bowl in January and came away impressed. They didn’t find him to be arrogant or brash, but confident and engaging," Cabot explained.

"Kevin Stefanski also received a glowing report on him from his former Vikings colleague Pat Shurmur, the former Browns head coach who spent the past two years as Sanders’ OC at Colorado."

I don’t believe almost anything I read during draft season … some could be true … most are just smoke screens!

Teams might be more apt to pursue Hendrickson, since he would not be as expensive as Garrett. Some might even go for Bosa, but he's rarely healthy enough to complete a season.

I watched Stephen A. talking about trade partners for the Browns if they trade Garrett.

He listed Buffalo, Philly, Detroit, and Dallas.

They better offer a couple first round picks AND two starters.

Garrett won’t have any say as to where he is traded. I’d trade him to Carolina or the Giants.

You are not getting two 1st rounders and a couple of starters. Anyone who trades for Garrett needs to have the cap space to extend him for 3+ years and $100+ million with most of it guaranteed.

A 2025 1st and probably a 2026 3rd that can become a 2nd or 1st based on 2025 production is more likely.

Then I would let him sit out.

Another part of the Garrett trade will likely be a contract extension with the new team as teams will not pay a premium for him unless they know he's there for the long term.

If the Browns are dead set on not trading him, they're fools. Everybody is tradable for the right price. I suspect they're saying they won't trade him to increase the offers, counterbalancing the decrease in his trade value caused by him saying he wanted out. Then again, maybe they're not that smart.

I would think the best value is to trade him before this years draft to get a 1st rd pick this year. Waiting until after this year’s draft only leads to Garrett becoming disgruntled and hurting his trade value.

I don't understand all the talk of trading him to these contending teams. The return will be garbage at the bottom of the round. If they are going to trade him it needs to be to a bottom feeding team that will result in a high pick.

A HOF in his prime with 2 years of control? The bidding starts at 2 1st. Anything else is a waste of time.

They are fools if they trade him. He's a centerpiece of the team. What are you going to do with the pick you get in the trade...draft Myles Garrett. You have him, build around him.

If I'm Garrett and I'm still here and Stealin Jimmy couldn't take a mtg with me, I would say "see my behind? Now see it sit and watch you fail even more"

Jimmy is a multi billionaire. He’s ungodly wealthy whether Myles ever plays again. Myles is wealthy, but he only has so many of these prime earning years left. He would be a fool to sit out a season in protest. Ask LeVeon Bell how smart it is to waste a season of your prime.

A lot of Browns fans are not thrilled with the idea of the Browns drafting Sanders to play QB. Scouts are a little mixed on him too. But what if Cam Ward is there for the Browns when it’s their turn? Does Ward excite the fan base? I think it would. A new QB always sparks interest and optimism. Ward looks the part of a franchise QB more than Sanders.

Ward has tons of arm talent … probably the most physically gifted of all the prospects … not sure he is a perfect fit for Stefanski’s offense … but hopefully that could be worked out … the good and bad is he reminds me of Jameis Winston … Winston can all the throws an NFL team would want (and so can Ward) and looks good for most of the game … but as most of you know … he will also make a few head scratching throws as well (and so does Ward) … if fact, IMO Winston would be a good backup if they draft Ward … similar skill set. The question with Ward is will he be good Jameis or bad Jameis … or both … or can Stefanski coach the bad out of him???

No thanks on both

Guess who the Browns are interested in perhaps drafting at running back?

NFL teams are noticing, especially the Cleveland Browns. They’ve shown interest in Skattebo, and it’s easy to understand why. The Browns are looking to enhance their offense, and with Skattebo’s size, vision, and speed, he might be the perfect fit.

As Cam Skattebo continues to generate buzz, it’s clear that his future in the NFL is full of exciting possibilities. Whether he ends up with the Cleveland Browns, the Arizona Cardinals, or another team, one thing’s for sure—his skills and determination are impossible to ignore.

He could be a nice addition for a bad weather outdoor team. A more talented Payton Hillis.

I just like his versatility, and... how many times do the Browns get inside the five and have to settle for a field goal because the runner can't power his way through? And, his toughness is a major benefit. I'm tired of the scatbacks.
