Cleveland Browns 2024 Edition

Reports are that it will cost Cooper and some draft picks (+ a large contract for Aiyuk). Not sure if it's worth it at that cost.
The window for this team is pretty short. If Watson fails, it's going to be total rebuild mode again. They might decide Aiyuk helps them get the Super Bowl now.

Report this morning is that the Browns did NOT include Cooper in their offer. That's difficult to believe.

Maybe they trade next year's first rounder?

Not a bad move because you will need a receiver to potentially replace Cooper next year, and if you keep that pick,
who will you get that will be better than Aiyuk?

Receivers are coming out of college and having success in their 1st year of the NFL. The advantage to this is the cost - it’s far less than the $25+ mil a year it will take to sign Aiyuk.

If the Browns do make the trade and give up the 2025 first rd pick, that would be four years without a first.

Are sure thing Pro Bowl receivers going to be available with the 20th pick next year? I doubt it.

I’d make the trade if I could lock him up for four or more years.

Plus you have him NOW, and don’t have to wait til 2025.

Yes, please. Patriots were ruled out.

Aiyuk, Cooper, Jeudy, Moore, Njoku is quite a nice array of weapons. Of course, it will cost something to get Aiyuk. Curious what that might be.
Most reports still have Cooper included as part of the package. If that's the case, it might be a small upgrade at WR, but I still don't think the cost is worth it. I'd rather have Cooper and hang onto draft picks.

Maybe if the Browns get Aiyuk w/ no player(s) going back to SF in the trade but reports are Cooper is involved. A upgrade from the standpoint you go from a 30 year old whose in the last year of his deal to a 26 year old who you just gave a new deal of say 4 year, $100 mil w/ $75 mil guaranteed. It would probably also include a 3rd pick in 2025 going to SF.

If Cleveland offers a 2025 1st for Aiyuk with no player(s) going back to SF, who of your 3 wr’s moves to slot? Aiyuk & Judy both get paid so they should be happy but Cooper is on the last year of his deal and may not be too happy if he’s having a down year heading into a FA offseason. Plus, it would then seem like the browns are completely dependent on Watson putting the ball up 30-35 times a game. He hasn’t been that qb in 4 years.

The reported Steelers offer to SF for Aiyuk is a 2025 2nd, 2026 3rd and 3rd year unproven wr/pr Calvin Austin. That appears to be the deal to beat if you are the browns.

As much as I would like Aiyuk, I am in the "do not give up Amari Cooper" camp. He is such a pro. Great route runner, great hands, rapport with teammates. We need him this year.

That Steelers offer should be easy to match / beat. I realize they will probably not trade Jeudy, and SF may not want his contract, but I would prefer having Aiyuk in place of Jeudy, so I'd give up Jeudy and a 2nd or 3rd. Or maybe a 2nd and a 3rd plus Tillman.

To your earlier question, Cooper can play slot. Terrific route runner and hands, declining speed.

I don’t think Jeudy is very highly thought of around the league. Jeudy is owed $60 mil ($41 mil guaranteed) over the next 5 years. To offer him that deal based on his productivity thus far in the league was risky. SF has Purdy’s pending contract so I’d assume they are wanting that cap space $$$ available for him. WR’s….far more easy to come by than a quality QB.

I think SF is definitely going to want a receiver as part of any deal.

With that said, Aiyuk looks like he wants no part of staying there, so they may not get exactly the WR they’d like to.

So maybe I have been under a rock, but I was shocked to hear that Watson was just cleared for full contact. I figured that had happened weeks ago. Anyone else concerned about him not playing in the opener?

Just last week one of the Browns vets was comparing Hall to a young Aaron Donald. Hopefully the kid gets his life in order.

Let's wait to see what comes of this incident before we make assumptions. Maybe he did something wrong, in which case he should be punished appropriately. Maybe he did nothing wrong.

After I posted the above, ESPN released a story about the incident. IF the story is true, I doubt he plays for the Browns.

Why? Browns have a pervert at QB, picked up Kareem Hunt a few years back after he kicked a woman. Looks like Hall and the browns are a match in "Heaven" or maybe purgatory.

Shame about Mike Hall. Seemed like a good kid at OSU and certainly a heck of a player. I think the fury level that football players need to compete, along with immaturity and too much testosterone, makes some of them behave like cave men. They just cannot control that rage off the field. We've seen it a hundred times, unfortunately...

The Cleveland Browns are locking up one of their best players for years to come. After months of speculation, they’ve finally agreed to terms on a contract extension with star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. According to a report by NFL insider Ari Meirov, the star defender is signing a three-year deal worth $39 million, which includes $25 million guaranteed.
