Failed levy(ies) leading to budget cuts are a big contributor. Edgewood and Ross are heading that direction too. Tough sell right now. Historic property tax hike in Butler Co won’t help.
 
Simple math fellas…everything is more expensive…fuel ( big expense for a bigger district)..supplies for classrooms…building maintenance, utilities..and they are on an extremely restricted cash flow/budget..businesses in the private sector raise prices…not an option for non profit schools…they rely on levies…that aren’t popular…so potential cuts? It isn’t pretty or popular but it is reality
 
Everyone wants to blame salaries but that is a fairly static expense…the rest I mentioned are volatile market driven expenses that are hard to anticipate…especially in tax driven budgeting!

Ross had to pay large amount of money to get out of SWOC after this School Year. Where that money come from?

He was a coach for 1 year at Springboro. That school has had 7 coaches in 10 years it was the school not the coach. At least Colerain would get someone who wants to coach and be there.

Little Miami passes levies, has lots of young families moving in, lots of new neighborhoods going up, and a very active and well-run youth program. They were also significantly improved this past year from the previous year. I'd take that over Colerain, easy.
 
Heard Monroes job opened up. He teaches at Fairfield and wanted a teaching job at Monroe that was open and they wouldn't give him his years.

Not mentioned is who is joining Fleming at X. When you have one of the all time greatest coaches in Cincy hoops history on your bench in Martin it will definitely help. And I also heard that the X administration has opened their eyes and now has some funds available for kids like Moe and LaSalle have done for years.

Again, they will be improved with good coaches and good players coming up the system. But state title contenders is a huge stretch. Here's where I think things in the GCL land this year:

Moe
LaSalle
X
Elder

I could see X and Elder flip-flopping. All 4 teams should be decent, but Elder will take a step back.

Sorry it was another poster in another thread that said St X will be scary good and are state title contenders. Not sure if he was trolling or serious.

I found it on their board agenda from their June 15th meeting on BoardDocs. Under 'approval of supplemental positions" Alstatt is listed as Head Basketball V at THS Step 6.

Looks like he was the Girls Coach at Bracken County (KY) for a while but that is all the background I was able to find.

It's a fit in that he's from the area and lets be honest it's a tough job to fill. Colerain gets a guy with big time coaching experience as an assistant and he had a terrible gig at Springboro for reasons that have already been talked about. Hes still a young guy and will care about the program. They didn't get a guy with no experience or just wants to moonlight his way into coaching retirement. I'm not sure what better hire there would be for a school like Colerain.
