CHL 24/25 Preview/Thread

Mariemont 53
Finneytown 47

Final

Mariemont went on a huge run early in the 4th quarter and by the time the hosts kicked it back into gear it was too late.

Looking at the stats from this game and it appears to have been one of the worst combined shooting performances I can recall in a long time.

Mariemont shot 1-17 from 3 while FT shot 2-10 from 3. The combined percentage for both teams was 11.1%. Mariemont also shot 9-19 from the FT line and still won because they made 53% of their 2-point shots (largely in part due to Stalzer's efforts).

I'd like to see a case study 3 % at Finneytown games. Their gym has such dim lighting, I wonder if that affects the shooting if you're not in thet gym every day.
I had heard they fixed the lights, but not sure if they did or not, since thy're getting a new gym/school.

LOL, classic.

I get it. It’s hard when you have certain expectations for your team. Guess the open enrollment didn’t help much in Three Rivers, set to close at 2026-2027 school year or pay tuition pursuant to JECB (Admission of nonresident Students)

The glaring stat is the assist. Wyoming 20 vs. Taylor 6! No one from Taylor is putting their teammates in scoring positions or playmaking.

That reeks individual play or role players afraid to shoot. Guys are just jacking the 3 ball up. 27 three’s attempted!!
The boxscore puts stats and proof to it, but just watching them play, you can tell it's very individual play and yes, guys just standing around the 3-point line. Not a lot of cutting action by off-ball guys, big guys catching the ball at the elbow and looking to pass immediately

Lol we lost by 9 to one of if not the best small school programs in the city.
You must not read well, as stated MANY times in this thread and a bazillion others I'm VERY realistic when it comes to sports and giving my takes. We struggle to rebound. We have to share the rock better. Someone outside of 1 or 2 kids need to be lookin to score.

Wyoming is the team to beat....

We will have our hands full tomorrow with MM as well. That's a team kinda Wyoming football Hancock left Hancock right just insert stalzer ....

And what does OE have to do with anything ? We could just pull a gentry and say all these kids are homeless and bam

I’ll leave Red alone😂 No bullets in the gun and it gets personal. The typical go to move. Now, I can’t read🥲.

I’ll stay above the fray and keep it hoops.

The OE was in reference to some schools don’t have to do it, to be competitive or attempt to be competitive. Taylor came in the CHL in 89. Was it open enrollment back then? Or just recently to help boost the sports morale.

Again, I get it Red. You had huge expectations for this team. Branch back. Dean older and seasoned, the 6’4 young kid making an impact, Snell following the footsteps. The season is still early, hang in there. I’m a fan of how you fan!!

Impartial observer but you seem to have an axe to grind with Taylor.

Is it the open enrollment aspect, the coach, the school, or do you have an issue with 93 red Is? I don't know the man, but he represents his school and its conference better than any other poster on yappi.

By all accounts, Taylor's coach seems to be well respected and gets his kids to buy in and maximize their potential year after year.

I'm curious what your primary issue is?

I won’t put up with anyone giving Red a hard time. The guy is a Jacket fanatic, as he should be, but is always fair in his comments. Coach Holland is a great coach. He took a program wallowing in mediocrity and turned them into league champs and always relevant. This coming from a Mustang fanatic!

I would ask Red what his primary issue is?

He mentioned 68 was most points against Wyoming since 2021. I simply responded said Taylor made 20 free throws. He then throws me in it, saying I must have did the game, blowing my whistle”😂

Guess he doesn’t like my assessment on Taylor, but swallows everyone else’s opinions on Taylor. Oh well🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m still a fan of how he fans!

My understanding is that the gym will stay up. The gym and the Performing Arts Center will be rehabbed, the other buildings will be replaced.

At least back in the Griggs days it seemed like FT always had decent shooters. Here's a season where they had 5 of the top 15 3-point shooters in the league, and three of the top six:

Vertically challenged as usual (Nelms, who played center and led the league in rebounding, was 6'2"), but good shooters.

The last Griggs team was even better, shot 36% from three. Of course in later years when they stopped doing anything well, shooting was included. Or that's how it seemed; stats are hard to come by for some of those games....

I stated a fact? Nothing more nothing less....

Taylor wins over MM 84-58

Didn't catch who was leading scorer, but Holland must have seen yall post lololol 😂

I think the leading scorer may have had 14 or 15 and they had 4-5 guys in double figures.

Man you're crazy.... I'm prolly the most realistic poster on this forum when I give insight and posts of the school I root for....

And given your name is why I made the remark blowing your whistle.... I guess that was hard for you to figure out?

Holland and the Jackets must have been reading some of the posts here in this thread and made some adjustments vs MM

I'm a nice guy trust me, my family owns the bar in town stop down I'll buy ya beer!

I usually fire back at people claiming refs are biased for or against certain schools but the comments in here are making me rethink the whole topic.

Told you to hang in there, it’s early in the season. I’m glad coach Braswell made the adjustments (C.A.P..E.) basketball.
Definitely confused by your bias against Taylor and their coaching staff. Do I think Holland is great as a coach? Remains to be seen imo, but he’s been around and people seem to like him enough.

On the game last night, what in the world happened in the 1st quarter? In quarters 2-4, Taylor was +5, but were +21 in the 1st. Seems to be a statistical anomaly unless they were getting into their bench in the 4th

Taylor did play some some of their 8-10's in the 4th. About 3-4 minutes

1st qtr Taylor's D was pretty nasty and MM prolly had 4-5 TO's
