CHL 24/25 Preview/Thread

why wednesday/saturday games? is that the norm for chl boys
They did this when my kids were in school. Some were convinced the girls games didn’t fill the stands because they were on Saturday like the boys did on Friday. They switched it up a few times each season and ended up with small crowds on both Friday and Saturday. Sounds like they are trying it again.

Reading kept it close w/Harrison for the 1st half. But they fall to 0-3. I think its going to be a LONG year for the Bluedevils. and still no stats from any of their games played so far this year.

Our league needs to do so much better from an admin stand point.

FInneytown AD page not 1 post about them having a girls bball game last night.
MM AD a pic saying there is a game....

not 1 update from the game on either side.

Phelps didnt post a IH girls final until this morning (KINDA ironic the whole title IX push/friday girls games came from IH more than anyone but the AD doesnt even put a final score out there for the girls bball team until the next day??) but the AD posted qtr by qtr update from the last boys bball game.

Come on do better. promote your school programs.

I'd give him a break. That guy is constantly on my timeline posting updates (with typos lol).

Were the football guys from Taylor not starting vs Deer Park just because it was their first game back? Or do they traditionally come off the bench

I would imagine they arent in Bball shape yet?
Holland has alot of tough decisions to make night in and night out.

I would say Noah Wentz and AJ Dean are starting every game as you 1 and 2.

after that you have 4-5 kids for 3 spots

Snell (9ppg 5 rpg 1 spg)
Henline (7ppg 3 rpg 1 spg)
Mcfarland (9.5 ppg 3 rpg 1 spg)
Branch (DNP last year due to injury as a freshmen avg 7ppg 7 rpg and 1 asst)
Larkins (6 ppg 4 rpg 1 block per game)

Those 5 will be fighting for 3 spots.
IMO holland doesnt have Larkins and branch on the floor at the same time. So it REALLY comes down to Mcfarland , Henline and snell for 2 spots.

Final

Mariemont went on a huge run early in the 4th quarter and by the time the hosts kicked it back into gear it was too late.

Taylor 68

Final

CHL sure seems like Wyoming’s to lose. Taylor relies way too much on their guards and 3s. Also got caught a couple times playing sloppy with the ball and then were lazy/slow getting back on defense. Branch and Larkins touch the ball in the post plenty and almost never look to shoot or take it up strong. The rebounding thing showed up again as well; too many guys standing around waiting for a board instead of finding someone to box out

Reading finally updated a few games w/stats. still no stats from the Aiken L.

Did reading play Madeira last night? Not 1 tweet I can find w/ a final score?

All I was able to find was that Madeira was up 46-18 at halftime and ended up winning. Manning had 20 and Hopewell had 15.

No final score yet.

man , going to be a long year for the Blue Devils. Connor Davis isnt playing so I am sure that has some bearing on these results

why would you start them? they aren't 2 of the 5 best on the team.

Agreed, Branch is a shell of himself from the Indiana Elite days. He was never very skilled, but he at least looked at the rim! When he played bully ball. No longer the biggest kid in the gym, the lack of skill is on display.

McFarland barley looks interested in playing, had some wide open looks and deferred in the games I watched.

Taylor appears to be trying to simply out score their opponents. No solid buy in to defend, living and dying by the three ball. When other teams can score at the same pace or faster, it could get ugly for them.

Dean is truly the only bright spot offensively, with his frame he can only give you so much defensively.

they need a more balanced scoring attack to be successful. can't rely on the 3. wentz and dean aren't strong enough to take it to the hoop though. need to have more involved in their offense, or maybe the others need to look to score.

Yeah, I said Larkins and Branch need to look to go up strong (their backs were almost always to the basket), but other guys were passing up open looks as well. Taylor stats aren’t in yet, but Wyoming shot 22 FTs; I’d bet they went to the line way more than Taylor

The game ended up being lost for Taylor everywhere but the free throw line (although they did a good job of matching Wyoming on the boards).

The glaring stat is the assist. Wyoming 20 vs. Taylor 6! No one from Taylor is putting their teammates in scoring positions or playmaking.

That reeks individual play or role players afraid to shoot. Guys are just jacking the 3 ball up. 27 three’s attempted!!
