Cavs 2023-24

Now we are resting bench guys that play less than 20 minutes a game 😂
Dude Jerome has had a nagging injury, why on earth should they push him to go out there in a truly meaningless game?

Just chill out. They have the 1 seed all but locked up. I hope they give guys plenty of nights off the rest of the way. Play enough to stay sharp and not lose momentum, but most importantly, be near 100% healthy ready to go once the playoffs start.

Respect the game. I abhor trying to throw games. There's no such thing as a meaningless game, they turn on the lights you are supposed to compete.

Did Allen hurt his ribs in the playoffs last year because he played too much? Injuries are going to happen regardless. Resting those guys meant everyone else had to play extra minutes, it's cutting off your nose to spite your face. Play everyone, get up 25 and then they can rest.

Apparently you don't understand that Ty Jerome has reached elite status and needs to rest like other superstars

There’s been a lot of talk lately about how the media covers the NBA. One criticism offered by some is that talking heads focus too much on the Lakers and Warriors and not enough coverage has been given to the Cavaliers (55–10) and Thunder (53–12).

But as I said in last Friday’s Traina Thoughts regarding Charles Barkely’s rant on this subject, and in Monday’s Traina Thoughts regarding Robert Griffin III’s claim that debate shows ruined sports media, we are in a supply-and-demand business. The viewers dictate coverage.

Saturday’s Lakers-Celtics game drew 4.6 million viewers for ABC. It was the most-viewed non–Christmas Day regular-season game since 2018.

The previous high since 2018 was 4.58 million for a Pacers-Lakers game for the finale of the 2023 in-season tournament. The most-viewed game of this season came on Christmas Day when the Lakers played the Warriors and 7.9 million people tuned in.

Just two weeks ago, when the Lakers played the Mavericks in Luka Doncic’s first game against his former team, TNT drew 2.5 million viewers. At the time, it was the most-watched non-Christmas game of the season behind Opening Night.

Meanwhile, for those clamoring for more Thunder coverage, OKC’s Sunday afternoon game against the Nuggets at 1 p.m. on ABC drew 1.87 million. The Suns-Mavericks game that aired right after it drew 2.03 million. So that’s all you need to know about the Thunder’s appeal across the country.

What does all this mean?

While you may not like the abundance of coverage given to the Lakers, the team moves the needle more than any other in sport. It sounds nice to say, “Oh, please stop ignoring the little guys like the Cavs and Thunder,” but that’s not how business works and sports are a business.

Who compares a Sunday 1 pm slot to Saturday night prime time?

Jerome has been pretty injury prone in his career- sprained ankles...ankle impingements...groin injury requiring surgery...

He's now been fighting an ongoing calf issue, so I have no issue with giving him a night off.

If this was Mitchell or Garland, brian would be telling us that they're soft. :D

Don’t forget brian would mention he’s never taken a sick day in 20 years

No Donovan, no problem. Cavs go into a Western Conference playoff contender and win their 16th in a row. Early in the year I said we could really judge this team after the all star break, when things heat up and the Cavs have faltered the past few years, but this team is on fire. Very impressive!

To me the difference between them and the teams they are beating is …. they are getting easier shots because most of their shots are coming off of their offense/pattern … not just going one on one … they other teams are relying on one or two players going one on one and making incredible difficult shots … that and their defense is also good and forces bad shots … this means when the Cavs are not shooting well that they are not falling way behind … this is an extremely talented team … that is extremely well coached … and playing extremely unselfish basketball .. really enjoyable to watch!

So much better than the JB do nothing for 15 seconds then run a sloppy pick and roll or iso for Donovan offense.

And yet, whenever the talking heads talk about the Cavs, they always cite the playoff failures of the past two seasons, not taking into consideration the new coach and philosophy. But, let them continue to underestimate the team and focus on the Lakers; it relieves some of the pressure.

I made a comment earlier in the year that, even with the red hot start to the year I didn’t expect the Cavs to touch 70 wins.

I dont think they’ll hit 70, they’d need to finish the year 14-2 after this current 16 game win streak, but they should easily get close. I don’t want to celebrate too early but what a regular season by this team and this staff.

Kenny deserves COY, but the league is in love with OKC for some reason.
