Cavs 2023-24

Watch how much cavs get worse next year without ty jerome.
Because there won't be any other career 7 point scorers available to be the 3rd SHOOTING guard for the Cavs. Jerome will make the (G-League) All-Star team next year. How is it that all of your Cavs heroes- Jerome, Porter, Merrill, Osman...are all pretty much backup role players.

Oh, and at the pace they're playing, it's highly improbable they will repeat it next year and that has nothing to do with whether Jerome is on the team.

I got a ty jerome jersey.
Just for you. Merry Christmas.🎅

Generously listed at 6'3", Sexton doesn't have the size, length or defensive chops to defend wings. Yet at the same time, he doesn't have the passing vision to be a point guard in an effective offense. Can he be a score-first bench weapon? Perhaps, but that type of player isn't worth a major contract.

Because of those limitations, Sexton cannot scale up next to other stars very well. He is a good player who is bad in all of the wrong places to excel in the NBA. The Cavaliers saw it and moved on before they were pot-committed. The Jazz are now coming to the same realization, but they may be stuck with the Collin Sexton experience for years to come.

I went to to try to get a Brian jersey, but they were all sold out.
But, you can get this sweatshirt:

Great article on the relationship between Atkinson and Mitchell:

The Cavs and Atkinson had a plan. They wanted Mitchell to be at his peak for the playoffs. They wanted him to be as healthy as possible. They also wanted him to “take a step back” in terms of minutes and shots during the regular season. “By doing that, he would empower Evan (Mobley) and others,” Atkinson said at a recent press conference.

“But a big part of Donovan is his humility,” said Atkinson. “He wants to be part of something bigger than himself.” Mitchell could have said, “Wait a minute, I’m the best player on the team and I have the stats to prove it.”

But for the team to advance, so must Mobley. Mitchell also has worked hard to grow the game of Darius Garland, who is having the best season of his six-year pro career.

The Cavs have the NBA’s best record at 26-4. They are doing it with their best player doing less – and others doing more. That was exactly the plan for the season, but it never would have happened had Mitchell not agreed to embrace the new vision for his own role.

Point taken. We all feel compelled to keep Brian from wandering out into traffic.
Brian gets very emotional when watching the games, obviously. One thing I will say, though, is Brian knows HS football. He took a lot of heat for that Nordonia/LaSalle game, but he's always pretty dialed in on HS football.

Agreed. He won the Summit County pick 'em that I run 3 or 4 years ago. Around the same time he predicted Riverside would win the region including beating Hoban and they lost very early on in the playoffs. In doing so he lost a bet to me and couldn't call for the firing of any coach on Yappi for an entire year!

Haha! That is very Brian. I’ve always appreciated that he has always contributed to my annual D2/R6 thread, even though he doesn’t really follow a team in the region. He still brings solid info, though.

I really should have received some award from Yappi.com for getting brian to not call for a firing for an entire year.

It seems like just yesterday that brian was giving us 40 times for Nordonia players that would have qualified them for the US Olympic 4 x 100 team.

He probably got Denzel’s time right, at least.

Another nice win for the Cavs. Nice performances from Mitchell, Mobley and Garland. Garland is really coming into his own under Atkinson.
I’m no longer a big NBA regular season guy as for using it as a measuring stick, because the NBA is truly about the playoff grind, but I do watch a lot of the Cavs games for entertainment and to see how I think they might do in the postseason. I’ll reserve judgment until I see what this team does when the league picks up after the all star break and gears toward playoff mode, but it’s hard not to be encouraged by Atkinson’s usage of the roster and playing to the strengths of the roster as opposed to making it play to the coach’s preference. The strength of this group has always been scoring. JB wanted them to be a defensive force, which retarded the advantage these guys had. Atkinson wants basic D, but he also is going to pressure opponents by making them keep up with the Cavs scoring. That’s smart coaching. Do what you do best and make the other team chase you.

Agreed. The regular season is merely a preview. That's another reason to just overlook the unexpected losses to lesser teams and to be patient during short slumps. Those things happen to even the best teams.

I haven’t looked at the Vegas odds, but Atkinson should be running away with COY at this point.
