Jerome is a career backup on 4 teams in 5 years and all of those GMs and coaches (including Steve Kerr) failed to recognize he (as an effing shooting or combo guard) is such a talent that he could be the starting point guard on a team with the best record in basketball. He's averaged 17 mpg and 2.7 APG in his career but he should be the starting point guard because he's had a nice 16 game stretch. That's may be more ridiculous than thinking a rookie with 1 career win at the time should start a deciding game of a World Series.

Five players — Emoni Bates, Max Strus, JT Thor, Luke Travers and Dean Wade — will not play for Cleveland on Friday, and Caris LeVert could also sit out, as he will be a game-time decision due to a knee injury, per Evan Dammarell.

Hmmm. Still plenty of time left in this game, but the Cavs are down by 12 in ATL. If it holds, it is a bit disturbing that two of the three losses will have occurred in NBA Cup games, where something…money…is on the line. I’m enjoying the hot start as much as anyone, but we really won’t know anything about this team until we see warm weather again in NEO.

My question is wtf were these last 2 games? Was like jumping off cliff, oddly

Brian, stay quiet
The game Wednesday had quite a few players out and the team being too comfortable at home and looking forward to the holiday.

Today, there was actually something on the line. Taking seven to beat Orlando last year was not enough to convince me this team has the guts to win games that mean something. I hope they do, but we won’t know until at least May.

The village clownboy shows up for losses, what a surprise. Seems like his magic posts do not work, after all. Shocker.

Mitchell has off shooting night, the other team plays well. It's gonna happen. Welcome to professional sports. Season is 25% over, and 17-3 is not too shabby. Anyone expecting to win at this pace (69-13) will be disappointed. Finishing 60-22 would be amazing as long as they key guys stay healthy. Really need Wade in the rotation.

Statement win for the Cavs. Mitchell with the superstar 4th quarter.
What’s the statement? That you can squeeze out a win a home in early December with Boston down two starters, including an all-NBA player in Brown? Yeah, it beats losing for sure, but unless they tie for the best overall record and head to head comes into play it means very little. Let’s see what happens when teams turn it up after the all-star break and turn it up even more in the playoffs. Until then it’s just entertainment.

But the Cavs did it with only 6 points from future hall of famer Ty Jerome!

It beats losing, though.

I agree, but it’s a pretty low bar to consider it a statement win, IMO.
I mean, it's a nice regular season win, especially being down double digits in the second half. It's the defending champs, albeit minus two key players. But as far as statements go, I'd say the loss to them in Boston (minus Okoro) when they were getting crushed and fought their way back was probably more of a statement.

When Boston squeezed out a close win at home over the Cavs (minus Okoro, Levert, Wade) you thought it was the end of the world. You said Garland always shrinks up against tough teams. Garland last night: 22 / 8 / 5 with zero turnovers.

Care to walk any of that back?

Here is my statement: Boston and Cleveland are the best 2 teams in the East by a wide margin. They will have a lot of close games. It is nice to win one and build some confidence for themselves.
