Bishop Sycamore Head Coach Roy Johnson Accuses Suburban Schools of Recruiting

I joined this site just to get some clarification as to what is going on here on ESPN. They seem to indicating that they were conned or something. Doesn't ESPN have anyone they know connected to Ohio football that could have tipped them off about this clown show called Bishop Sycamore ? there is no one connected to the Hall of Fame that was clued in, or heard the rumors? Sycamore looks like an underfunded youth program. The paint is coming off their facemarks and helmets revealing that they were obviously bought second hand and painted black.
Yes, multiple people were told exactly what kind of program Bishop Sycamore was. ESPN and others simply didn’t care and scheduled the game anyways.

ESPN doesn't book these games. Paragon Marketing does.

And they only care about recruits and fell for the scam. There's no due diligence.

Will there be any fallout from this? Will St Edward keep them on the schedule? Will Bishop Sycamore have the money to travel to these long distance games?

I'm not giving advice.... But there's gonna be enough covid canceled games you won't miss them if you cancel

I doubt there is any fallout. Ed’s knows exactly what this program is. They’ve scheduled them every year since they were COF Academy. This isn’t even the first time this program has played IMG! Just the first time it’s televised.

they never pay the travel companies, so yeah, they’ll still find a way to travel.

When you can only get maybe 4 Ohio teams on your schedule for over 20 years you get forced into these positions. Most programs value a 10 game experience for the kids and look at any options available. It is what it is and St. Edward is fully aware of what they signed up for. Feels like this question gets answered multiple times every year yet no Ohio teams come calling.

ESPN and their national audience have now figured out what has been common knowledge on this board for years. Bishop Sycamore is not a high school, nor are they a prep school. They are a farce. The people in charge of that operation have stayed afloat for three years by way of fraud, misrepresentation and dishonesty. Anyone who schedules them ought to be embarrassed.

Glad Massillon moved the usual scrimmage to actual games with St. Eds the last two years.

Given the information out there and the BS record, and IMG smoking BS last year too, lots of blame to go around here.

not true. Eds is 1-0 vs BS, and never played COF.
They scheduled COF. Cancelled the game after OHSAA couldn’t confirm a division for them. But they scheduled them, buying into the lie back then, and then continue to support the scammer by scheduling Sycamore.

You’d hope with the expanded playoffs more in state teams would take risks in scheduling the big Private schools. However, it doesn’t appear to have changed anything at all.

I have long been of the belief conferences should coordinate with AD’s of member schools to encourage each school to schedule harbin friendly out of conference opponents.
For example if everyone in the conference scheduled a “gimme” D-1 game the resulting l2s would be enough to get extra teams from your conference in the playoffs every year. It’d be bad for high school football as a whole but good for any given conference
