I don't think they need much of anything out of the current Big Ten West, although I think at least one of Fickell and Rhule will get their program on good footing.

I agree with AEW. They are perfectly fine if the PAC brands are just at their current level.

Washington and UCLA are big brands but are typically very up and down, with UCLA usually more down. USC has been just OK recently. Oregon is the the most consistently good program. The conference will need a blueblood Big Ten team to step up in the West.

Outside of the OSU-ND game, there hasn’t been a single worthwhile game yet featuring a Big Ten school, nor will there be except when OSU, Michigan and Penn State are playing each other.
That’s a good point. I just figured since the Big Ten no longer uses ESPN that Gameday also no longer went to those places. I will say that Penn State vs WVU in week 1 would have been better than UNC vs South Carolina.

Peak Iowa football tonight beating Sparty 26-16 in a game where one offensive TD was scored lol.

Lots of boos and "Fire Brian" chants at Kinnick Stadium tonight as daddy's boy guided the Hawkeyes offense to 222 total yards on 59 plays, and 2/13 converting on 3rd down.

In one of the more interesting obscure but must follow storylines this year, Iowa is behind pace through 5 games on meeting the 25 ppg component for the OC to stay employed. 111 points on the year and 22.2 ppg so far, and tonight they may have lost their starting QB for the rest of the year.

Big Ten football scores week ending 9/30/23

Michigan 45 Nebraska 7
Penn State 41 Northwestern
Minnesota 35 Louisiana 24
Purdue 44 Illinois 19
Maryland 44 Indiana 17
Rutgers 52 Wagner 3
Iowa 26 Michigan State 16

The usual suspects held serve, but Maryland is 5-0? What gives.

fyp - I think.

Turtles beat Hoosiers more soundly than the Bucks did, fwiw. Improvement needed.

A little weird Maryland isn’t ranked. Yeah they haven’t played anyone good but they’ve blown everyone out so far. Plus they have Tua’s brother at QB. Media loves that kind of thing.

Rutgers/ Wisky could be a sneaky close game. I don’t think the Badgers are playing all that well and aside from the Michigan game, the Schianos have looked decent. Could be a bad time for UW if caught looking ahead to Iowa.

Ohio State got off pretty light in 2024, compared to Michigan and Penn State. Washington got off pretty light compared to the other three ex-PAC 12 teams.

I think UCLA was going to get tOSU on the schedule before Oregon & Washington were added. While Penn State sells some tickets it is not on par with Ohio State, UCLA probably would have liked the cash infusion with a big fan base buying tons of tickets to the Rose Bowl.

2026 should be a strong slate though - home against Oregon and Michigan, at USC.

Hawkeyes with another win, but fall a few more points behind the 25 ppg average Brian Ferentz needs for the year.

Need to average almost 28 ppg the rest of the season (plus bowl) for junior to keep his job. Seems like a major stretch considering the replacement QB went 6/21 passing today, and didn't complete a pass to a WR.

If you base it on just this year and who they have played, maybe not. Them and PSU have terrible sos right now. But I don’t think PSU nor OSU can beat them right now.

I find it interesting that two of Michigan's starters on the O-Line are portal transfers from Stanford. They reload. Disappointed that Frye coming from the Pac-12 didn't grab those two.

He came from UCLA and saw Stanford first hand. Same with Arizona State. Did UCLA play Louisiana Monroe or San Diego State? You think Michigan's Coach Moore knows something about offensive linemen....CP?
