Any high expectations for any school this Spring?

I know traditionally over the years many of these schools have produced next level talent.

Red Raider, how is Kent's youth program?
There's a travel organization called Kent Colonel's that was doing both baseball and softball but I don't know what it's really like. There basically is no rec program or city program. Whatever they have isn't very good, I do know that.

Feels like they get enough kids playing on travel teams and they have a strong coaching staff which keeps them at least competitive most years and they've also had some really good teams as well.

My middle grandson ( 9 years old) played on a team that played teams from Brimfield, Streestboro, Mogadore, Crestwood, and Springfield. They really worked on fundamentals, which at that age, is so, so important.

Yes.

Actually, it may have been 8U, he didn't turn 9 until after the season was over.
That's good to hear. I am not completely privy to everything but from friends with young kids they tell me the youth programs in general are pretty poor.

There are some fathers, that have played HS baseball, that are working with a group of kids.

Been a long time since I've been involved in youth baseball. But if I recall, there are a handful of decent travel programs near Kent. Do the Longhorns still exist? How about the Ravenna Titans? I do know the Diamond Boys are still around. I think there are a couple of newer ones, but I could be wrong. Been a while.

My oldest grandson played against the Diamond Boys a few times. I think there's an organization called the Ohio Titans, maybe they are the ones based in Ravenna, that were pretty good. There are a lot more organizations out there, and as in the past, some very good, some average, and others that not only lack talent, but are poorly coached.

Longhorns are still around. Some Kent boys do play for them. I don't know how many.

Not sure about the others.

How will Talmadge be this year?

Is Cuyahoga Falls really that bad?
Not close to the program at all anymore but there were two very good Senior players that led the team last year; Keagan Gilbride and Mark Manzo. Losing both of them is going to be tough to replace. Tallmadge will still be solid as the Tallmadge Little League feeder system is still in place. Not sure how deep of a run they can make in the tournament. This isn't the same level of Tallmadge team that won the state championship 8 years ago but they should be able to compete against just about anyone on any given day.

what div did they drop to?

III or IV?

While we lost some studs from last year's team I still got Tallmadge winning the burb as the seniors on this team are still solid and hopefully can stay healthy.

Tallmadge had some trouble scoring runs last year and lost a couple hitters. They will be in the mix, but to be successful may have to win a number of lower scoring games. They may have a pitching staff that allows that.

This may be true. Not sure of the thought process to enter a conference where you come in larger than any current member (I believe) and you are a growing district.
I believe that Tallmadge just followed Kent Roosevelt and Cuyahoga Falls when both made the move. It would have left Tallmadge isolated in a league far from any other school.

they seemed to do just a-ok in the old suburban in the mid 2000s out there by themselves when they were playing green, highland, nordonia, wadsworth, cloverleaf, revere, and copley

leaving a league you were competitive in for 30+ years to join a league with ravenna and springfield. pfffff i plead the fifth :censored:

Tallmadge is growing????

I thought they were shrinking.
There is a several hundred house development that is only partially completed -- the vast majority are family homes. New zoning approval for apartment complexes just passed -- again likely a place a family may live. Some of the newer facilities I have heard are already too small (especially at the elementary level).

I just know not too long ago they were D2 in most sports and now D3 in everything.
