2025 Massillon Tigers

I just won’t be surprised if by next July Haines is 6’4 190lbs and coach has the thought: well I know he has running ability and also has a solid arm so I can work through the growing pains and by the time you get to the homestretch of the season he has turned into a very capable QB
I wouldn’t be either ! Let the D carry this team early in the season.

Gotcha you threw me off when you said same build as slaughter. You meant when slaughter was that age
Yes and over the last 4 years, Slaughter has put on a little bit of weight but he is just a lanky kid that you can tell it’s hard for him to put on weight and muscle. Manny is a little shorter but let’s hope he can put on 10-15 lbs this winter.

bobby huth as a soph was listed at 5-8 138lbs.. he turned out ok... that said..let them compete.. Haines has that size and looks athletic and Eli can compete too although as someone mentioned if gains some weight he might be able to be a factor on D.. .... we have choices and the defense should carry this team till we figure it out...its ok to move guys around for awhile.. the end goal is week 10 and 16... i hope we find some"normal" opponents weeks 1-6

one other thing about manny, it looks like he throws very catchable balls with a nice touch..

You guys all make solid and good points on a lot of things. But if we don't find some lineman and can run the ball without our back having to run in circles to gain yards like Gamble had to, it's going to be a rough year. I know we have a ton back on defense. I basically laid it out a couple weeks ago what it might look like next year. We have like 12 kids back that started at least one game on defense or something very similar to that. But we have to get this whole offensive line thing figured out or it's not going to matter who the skilled players are. A long ways a way before week 1 next year. I hope these guys understand what's in front of them (players)

And to answer someone's question about a Running Back, yes a new kid transferred in to my knowledge. Very quick and good speed. Nice player. He has some experience at QB and DB as well.

Experience at QB there we go DaOne part 2 lol. Mobile/running QB is the X Factor is highschool football. Now let's work on that line

We haven’t had an oline for years but there are those that will quote stats, how many yards rushing etc blah blah blah.
I’ll clarify… the oline has been good enough to man handle the mid level teams but when it came to top notch competition. Severely struggled.

I heard the new kid was just touring then dipped.

Moores proved he will play the best player. His own kids in the mix and I believe he’ll do what’s best for the team. He’s given me no reason to doubt that over the last ten years.

Whether is he Eli, Manny, Haines, Owens or someone else, the player who puts us in the best chance to win 26 will be under center.

Its not a matter of being small. More a matter of being tough/physical. We have had 165# rb’s or qbs before but they could take a hit. Even Huth ran the option at times. GO just had a very good running QB at 160. Manny is actually pretty strong for his size but idk if he’s like that or not.

Okay, ONE kid in a span of 20 seasons that was very undersized ended up being good.
Right and that was a different era, you have to be able to tuck that ball and run. Look at Anderson and Avon both of those QB’s can pick up 1st downs with their feet if need be.
Owens showed us what we have always needed, this year we didn’t have that and it really showed. No offense to Slaughter, great kid and a good QB he just didn’t have the wheels to do that.
With the size and talent of the OL that we are going to have here each year we have to have a QB that can run.

If it were me, I would've used Jalen and put Carter in at QB at times. I know he wasn't a big kid. However, he was an absolute playmaker that I feel like we could've done something with. We barely threw him the ball so I don't see why that wouldn't have been in the playbook. But it's all in the past. But going forward I agree, I would like us to have a couple QB's that can run whoever that may be

I’m confused, is there a new player, or did he just took a tour? Thanks.

You give me 22 players like Bobby Huth, Bo Grunder, Mike Wright jr. Austin Brawley, Austin Jasinski, all under sized. I will win a lot of games.

Agreed but we’re talking about QBs who can run. Danzy, Clark, Hurst were Slaughters size too weight wise, but different kind of guys. Huth was tougher too. Idk what Manny or the others bring to the table but you do have to be able to pass also. We’ll see.

Many is smaller than that he's 150 and not built to run.

Danny Clark slaughters size weight wise??? Lol maybe 6th grade

The other Clark. Hymes was another buck 60 kid who could run.
Yeah Hymes could run if needed too I never thought him or the other Clark was that small. Hymes wasn't used like people are talking about being too small to run. They are talking about being big enough to have designed runs like Owens. 160 isn't going to cut it for that
