2024 St. Ignatius Football

My understanding (from this past summer) was that there was mutual interest by Ignatius and Pittsburgh CC to schedule again in '24. That was before the Wildcats were blown out by PCC in week 3.
The process of scheduling games in PA (and the WPIAL) apparently is different than in OH and any scheduling has to wait to see what weeks PCC will have open. Whether there’s a mutual date when both schools have an open week probably won’t be known until early next year.
The WPIAL are total dictators with scheduling. In 6A, PCC has some freedom to schedule some games. 5A does too because there are not many teams in those classes, those schools can schedulea few of their games. But 1A-4A, the schools can schedule the 1st game of the season then the WPIAL schedules every other game. The schools have no say after week 0. Really stupid, but that is how it is done.

PCC really does need to see what their commitment to the WPIAL is before scheduling outside their masters wishes.

*Second offer. Got an offer from Purdue a day or so before. Still big-time offer for Cody who is bringing them in quickly.
Certainly not a hard prediction to make, but I said he was going to be blowing up sooner than later after returning from injury. Put a lot of good plays on tape in a short amount of time.

Franzinger should bus the returning players down to Canton and make them watch Eds raise another trophy.

Not sure the Eagles are doing anything particularly better on that side of the ball besides having Messrs. White, Mason, Armstrong, Armstrong and Roebuck. Maybe we can copy that.
Then what’s happening on the lower levels? They can’t beat Eds either.

PDC - you are 2 for 2 on predictions for St. Ed’s championships. Are you predicting another one? I’ll feel a little bit better knowing where you stand! 🍺

Saw ST Iggy this year. In D-1 , You need jimmy's and joe's to win. This years wildcat team ws the slowest team of theirs i have ever seen. No WRs to threaten down field and no fast rbs. They are light years from Ed's and expect at least another season of beatdowns with that schedule.

Can any Ignatius posters offer me some help with this? Were Brian Hoyer and Anthony Gonzales the only future NFLers on the 2002 Ignatius team?

WR/CB - Darnell Martemus - Vanderbilt
OT - Kevin Sheridan - Boston College
LB - John Haneline - Bowling Green (2004 Grad)
OL - Mike Eynon - Ohio (2004 Grad)
OL - Steve Miller - Ohio (2004 Grad)
TE/DE - Mike Massey - Michigan (2004 Grad)
QB - Brian Hoyer - Michigan St. (2004 Grad)
DE/LB - Jim Ramella - Boston College (2005 Grad)
DB - Sean Kavanaugh - Miami(OH) (2005 Grad)
DB - Greg Baitt - Princeton (2005 Grad)

Hoyer & Gonzo are the only two that made it to the NFL.

Worm check out my new thread. I’m sure you’ll be able to add to that. Maybe some Glenville WGH games.

Part of it could be PA is starting a new 2 year cycle. If so, the week 1 week could move to match up with Ohio. Versus a week 0. I need to do more research on that. But that is a possibility, which means it's hard to schedule OOC games yet for PA schools.

Sean Martin has decommitted from Toledo and switched his commitment to Northwestern.
Congratulations to Sean.
For his junior year, he was 2nd team all-Ohio. This past season, he received zero recognition from the writers, not even being named honorable mention NEO Lakes. He had some injuries and may not have had the stats, yet nobody targeted passes to his side of the field. In the Mentor playoff game, there was only 1 pass to his side of the field, which was incomplete. There were games with no passes thrown to his side.
Most importantly, Northwestern recognized his talent and he's the kind of person they want in their program. Congrats!

I don't see Cody Haddad on the basketball roster. Concentrating on Football? He played basketball the way he plays football, and it was very effective as long as the refs ate their whistles. Would like to see him in scarlet & gray in 2025. Buckeyes need to restock on Wildcats with Eichenberg graduating.

Hopefully Martin and St Edward Northwestern commit Troy Regovich have communicated. Both should be contributing players at the next level and it never hurts to end up with a degree from Northwestern.

Aidan Hubbard has become a significant player on the NU defense, and Michael Kilbane will have played in the maximum number of games without burning a redshirt year. Najee Story from Solon is a stud on their d-line. Cleveland should be well-represented on the Northwestern defense the next few years.
