2024 OHSAA Girls Volleyball Statewide Brackets

Congratulations to the OHSVCA Division Poll Winners.
Division 1: Seton
Division 2: Anthony Wayne
Division 3: Archbishop Hoban
Division 4: Archbishop McNicholas
Division 5: Lake Catholic
Division 6: Coldwater
Division 7: Fort Loramie

Do any of these teams win state in November?

For southwest Ohio - D2 & D4 should be entertaining.

D2,
- SUA has to be the overwhelming favorite as they are the #1 team in the State per MaxPreps but they will run into another GGCL foe in MND where anything could happen in their 3rd matchup
- Interesting to watch the ECC schools battle each other as they have had an overall great year (IMHO the best public school in SWO - the GMC "aint what it used to be") - Anderson vs Loveland play right out of the gate! Loveland gave UA all they could handle up through the mid-point of the 4th set.
- Kings plays SUA on Thursday to prep for the tourney so let's see how they fair against SUA's front line

D3 - UA should walk to Columbus and eventually meet Gilmour

D4
- I think this is a toss up between Roger Bacon, CHCA, McNick, & Mercy McAuley. All of these schools have played/scrimmaged the "big boys". Outside of CHCA, the other three have played those schools extremely tough. Interesting narratives going on RB beat Gilmour but split with CHCA and beat McNick. CHCA split with RB. McNick lost to MND in 5 & MM has lost to RB & McNick but beat MND - who to pick?
- Will give nod to Taylor that went 20-0 and only dropped 2 sets during the year. They have a huge opportunity to make a statement in their first round game against RB but Taylor hasn't seen that type of fire power so let's see how they react.

The McNick loss to MND was without Savannah Stacey. Six rotation OH.

McNick lost head to head to Roger Bacon in a very tight 5 set match. That rematch could be awesome with a trip to state on the line but both have work to do to get there.

On one side of the regionals, the CHCA/MM winner will likely play Roger Bacon. On the other side, the likely match-up is McNick vs Kenton Ridge. Kenton Ridge is 20-1 and were #1 in the state most of the season. They are a bit of an unknown.

MND also played senior heavy atypical lineup so no need for excuses.

Have to like Seton in D1.
Likewise SUA in D2 but tougher division than 1 IMO.
Hoban is undefeated in 3 but not overall as tough as schedule as UA or Gilmore.
Edge to RB in 4 with the head to head win over McNick. Kenton Ridge does have some nice players but not tested much like Taylor.
I'll go with Lake Catholic in 5.
D6, 4 of top 6 from MAC. I'll take undefeated Coldwater.
D6, Last years D4 runner up Tiffin Calvert or Fort Loramie.

D1 is going to be Seton or St Joseph - A team with a lot size could give Seton problems
D2 is going to be SUA (I don't see anyone beating them in D2)
D3 is going to be Gilmour or Ursuline (I like Ursuline if their top pin is healthy)
D4 is going to be Mcnick, Roger Bacon, CHCA, or MM - all four teams are built a little differently and on a neutral court I am not sure I would give one team a strong advantage over another.
D5 is going to be Lake Catholic, I don't see anyone beating them in that division

D2 got a little more interesting that Kings beat Mason last night in 5 - Kings vs MND has the makings of a great match! Can Kings keep their GGCL win streak alive? How big a threat are they or is SUA that strong that everyone is playing for Regional Runnerup?

SUA is going to spank everyone locally in D2. I think they are the best team in the Cincy area.

Notre Dame Academy may be the best team in the area even though they are just across the river. SUA should be considered favorites in D2, but Seton was favored last year when SUA knocked them off. I'd like to know more about the Anthony Wayne team ranked ahead of SUA on Maxpreps. They have a loss vs St Joe's, wins over Toledo SUA, Magnificat, and Watterson.

St Joe's lost to MND twice this season. Once in August and once in October. MND didn't win a set this season against the top 3 teams in the GGCL.
However, St Joe's does have one of the best players in the state. Belle Grooms might be the very best.

Worthwhile matches this week in SWO

D2
- Anderson vs Loveland (Weds) - Loveland playing well in October, took UA to 5 / Anderson - haven't lost since Aug, won the ECC - heard thru the grapevine that they may have scrimmaged Seton but not sure how they did
- Kings vs MND (Sat) - Kings playing well, took a set from SUA and beat Mason / MND is battled tested (which teams shows up for them)

D4
- RB vs Taylor - (Tues) - Taylor has had a great season, big game for Taylor & CHL - will they be prepared for RB's hitters / Roger Bacon is hungry to get our of the Region & is battled tested with big win over Gilmour
- CHCA vs MM (Tues) - CHCA played several parochial schools north & south of the river to prep for this match / MM will bring it

Give me Anderson and Kings in D2 and I’ll take the MVC schools in D4.

Sad state of affairs at the OHSAA.

It's Monday 10/28 and all the District Championships have been completed yet the regional brackets for some divisions are still showing entries such as Northwest 2 or Southwest 3.

Breaking the GGCL into all these post season divisions really shines a light on how dominant the league is. In the past, Seton, SUA, UA, and MND would knock one another off at regionals.

Agreed, but in district play trying to find which team was in which district was often a challenge. OHSAA needs to bring back the 'Find my Team' functionality for the brackets.

D1 - Seton vs Mason on Saturday. Seton beat Mason earlier in the season so the are favorite, but I think Mason's Block could give Seton problems. Seton has to be the shortest team in the State.
