2024 OATCC Polls

A couple of points.

D1 NE region is very weak. It could be the worst in the history of the sport. Columbus and Troy should dominate at state. NE could all finish 10+ at the state meet in D1. No team had 5 under 17:00. MasJACK had a 2-minute spread from 1-5 and finished 2nd. MasJack was a regional runner up and they lost to St. X and Creek by 80 points at an earlier meet. Chardon qualified with a 17:47 man.
St. Iggies only finished with 6 and they were 4th overall. Was someone hurt?
Eli Ig is running very well and will contend for a state title.

Woodridge #5 is at 16:44 v. Hudson at 17:00+ is a huge difference maker.

The Woodridge system is awesome.

Your Woodridge bias is awesome.

The D2 state meet should be a battle.
It is impossible to compare regionals. The D1 race at Boardman is incredibly crowded. Everyone tries to get out, so the bottlenecking around the first turn down to the fields, and the hairpin, extends all the way into the first straightaway down to mile 1. Watching kids try to weave through the crowds make this a much more difficult race when you're not in the first group. While it's true there are fewer enormous schools in the D1 race up here, and may be fewer schools capable of challenging for the title, it would be foolish to discount the teams up here that make it through Boardman. I have seen, and coached, teams that were ignored after the regional race, that beat heavily favored teams from the south.

Fairfield Union

Most years this $oodridge lineup would win, but FU is so tough up front and at 4 and 5

Lexington third, CVCA next.

Bay has lost it's way in October, but could rally like 2023
I'm going to go out on a limb and go with Woodridge. They seem due. FU 1,2 Then Woodridge will put 5 in before FU's 4.

Depending on the conditions, Woodridge puts 5 in under 16:20. FU will probably put 5 in under 16:30. Neither team has any margin for error vs each other. They seem equally good through 6-7 too. The been there done that edge goes to Woodridge. The good thing for FU and Woody is whichever team pulls it off, will have earned it. This is going to be earned. Just a nice story where the underdog only ranked #5 going into the season and then dropping to #7, has somehow scratched and clawed it's way into contention with big bad #1. Who doesn't love and underdog?

Dual meet, 27-28 either team.

No arguments on Lex and CVCA.

The big question is where will the TROY region end up? Although they look miles ahead of the teams from last year.

Will be interesting to see if the Troy Regional is as dominant as the voters think it will be. CVCA and Rocky River seem a tad low. Especially compared to Bay. I mean, since both those teams have finished ahead of Bay the last 2 weeks. LCCC district is represented well.

1. FU
2. $oodridge
3. Lexington
4. CVCA
5. Bay
6. Rocky River
Other than your glaring hatred of Woodridge and all teams from the Troy Region, I think that is closer than the polls.

What a wonderful story if Woodridge could pull this off. The enrollment deficit they have compared to FU and Lexington, and CVCA and Bay and Rocky River and West Liberty Salem + Versailles added together.

Do they have Fairfield Union shirts? They should.

3 in the top 8. 3 in front of Boardman 3rd. That would be dominant.

Way back, last year, Boardman put 6 in the top 7. How far the kings have fallen.
The good old days were that time when Troy only got three qualifiers but finished 1-2-4. Nobody knew who Woodridge was. 😁

Ignatius' #2 Spellacy was spiked and was not able to finish the race. He's expected to run on Saturday

1 year out of 50 is impressive.

Odd you hadn't heard of Woodridge. Girls were state champs in '95 . runners up in '93 and '96.

Re: discussion of D1 boys NE region ... did they take all of the bottom 6 spots and 7 of the bottom 9?
Pretty hard to justify all those extra spots to the NE Region for Boys D1. Especially with teams like Tippecanoe, Loveland, Dub. Scioto, and Perrysburg watching at home. "Worst in the history of the sport" ended up being accurate.

I would say Troy Regional looked pretty good! West Liberty-Salem #4, Versailles #5, CHCA #7, and Oakwood #12. (Crazy to think West Liberty-Salem and Versailles went #4 and #5 in D3 last year 😳 would've went 1-2 in D3 this year 😳

yes. Very nice job.

D1 was nice too.
Woodridge had their 5th at 16:16 and finishes 3rd overall. Unreal for D2 teams. Great job by Fairfield Union and LEX. Lex and Woodridge bring back already great teams and FU brings back 4 that are very good. Woodridge almost ran exactly what I predicted they would, but FU ran much better. Did not have a single kid underperform even a little. Top 3 teams would have competed well in D1.
