2024 Elder Football

Doesn't Kentucky have some form of NIL, too? I remember seeing something with a couple of Cov Cath kids last year. Is that much of a thing in the Commonwealth?
They do indeed have NIL, which is surprising given how conservative the state and KHSAA is regarding everything.

So, it will only be a matter of time before it comes to Ohio.

That makes no sense. Minors do not have a right to earn $.

Seems to be common theme among many players these days. It's "If I'm not starting, I'm bolting."

I will say, overall it is more difficult to transfer schools in KY than OH. It's not the wild west in KY like it is in OH now with kids playing for 3 or more schools during their career.

But, to each their own.
as bad as OH can be, it pales in comparison to CA. MD & Bosco live off transfers. I have no idea why other schools won’t step up and kick them out of the CIF. As I’ve said before IMG, Bosco, MD, Gorman, St Francis, and Aquinas should just form their own conference and stop competing w/ actual HS.

39 states allow parents of high school kids to supervise their child’s NIL until the child reaches 18. Kentucky is one.
Ohio, Indiana and Michigan are 3 of the other 11.

OH schools are living off transfers. That's how teams are winning now, not through development, but transfers.

This is surprising to me. Not in a negative way, I just did not realize the schools had any relationship whatsoever and figured Taylor would prefer other options besides Elder.

The Taylor High School football game at Mariemont is still on as scheduled for Friday night. The Taylor football team plans to practice at Elder today. https://x.com/TRLSDjackets/status/1838714260878180456…

I love hearing that Elder is willing to share its facilities with another westside school in need!

About five years ago Moeller asked Elder if they could do their senior night at the Pit because Moeller could not get a field that year (probably COVID related).

Elder of course said yes and it was the right thing to do.

I wonder when/where Taylor is practicing since the freshman game is in the stadium. Panther Park? The soccer field at the PAC?

I don’t think it was, I think they should’ve told Moe to shove it up their a**.

Helping Taylor is the right thing.

New, younger AD at Taylor who has more connections with the Westside catholic schools so I’d imagine that lends itself to more Elder connections

Taylor was taking the field at The Pit after the freshman game so I guess they were going to be practicing under the lights.

F em. They’re not friends.
Many years ago, Moeller stepped up in-season and helped an Elder QB when his family home was destroyed because of a fire. I could be wrong but I believe they raised $10,000. It was incredibly kind and benevolent of the Moeller administration.

The competition (and non friendliness) can be real on the field or court, but afterwards it’s a different story. A lot of these kids know each other, and are friends now.

The schools are all businesses, and I get that. But when it comes to certain life situations, I’d like to think they do the right thing for each other.

Everyone who has attended any of the GCL schools knows there is a greater mission and purpose than sports. Everybody wants to win and the competition is intense but besides Omar I think everyone else is aware of what these schools are truly all about.

MANY is the key word, that debt is repaid.

That’s lame regarded bs.

I guess your values are just different.
It would appear so. I care about Elder and only Elder. The other GCL schools can fend for themselves. And I’d expect them to feel the same way about Elder. At the end of the day, it’s all a business and they’re competitors. Don’t do favors for the competition.
